    $25.49! I'm in! :)

    • lets start the negotiation… if i was to walk in and ask 23k yay or no?

  • +5

Same price as last Month on the ASX, I got an Outlander LS 2WD 7 Seat MY19 2019 Built & Complied for 29,990 with 7 year/150K KM warranty.

    • pretty sure last month didn't include the 2 years free servicing, but still a great price on Outlander.

      • +7

Yes it did , the 7 YEAR /150K Warranty, 2 year Free Servicing and $1000 Accessories Offer was from March 1st. Never Ever Pay RRP Drive Away prices !! I figured 7 year, 150K KM warranty for that price of $29,990 was good enough, I did not get the 2 year free servicing and $1000 Accessories though. But the face value of that is probably around $500-$600 for the accessories and $500 or so for the service.

If you check Whirlpool and Outlander FB groups, you will find most people got it in March with all the offers (7 yr, 150K, 2 yr service and $1000 accessories) for the ASX or Outlander for 10-15% off RRP

        • +1

You gotta be kidding me, thats like $5000 off.

          Which city are you in?

    • +1

I got the same one in Demo for $27k..

      • -2

More like a Dealer used but I guess that would not be eligible for 7 year 150K warranty

        • +4

It had run 50km..and it has 6 years and 11 months warranty..and stuff like tinting, paint protection and schmick for $500 instead of $2k..free roadside assistance..dealers are getting desperate..

        • Still eligible for warranty, but not capped price servicing…

    • That is a great price. Which dealer did you go to? I have been looking at used 2018 AWD models with 25kms for around $28k. Might as well get a new one for this price.

    • I found one for $28 driveaway you got conned

      • Bought mine at 2017 for 28.5k including tint windows, rear bumper protector, weathershield

    • Is there any current 5-seat Outlander with leather seats/heated/lumbar adjustment?

  • +127

I think the OPs definition of 'being given away' is fairly different to mine.

    • -4

In all fairness where can you find an SUV of this size that has 7 year warranty, and is not Chinese made at this price point?

      • +41

Still far cry from "being given away".

      • +19

You say SUV like that's some sort of amazing thing.

      • -2

Losses 10-15% value as soon as you drive it out…

      • +27

        SUV of this size

You mean an SUV that is the size of a Lancer, but costs more to run, service, and maintain while giving you worse performance than the Lancer where it will be driven 99.99999% of the time which is on roads? Ok then.

    • +2

not given away but definitely a steal

      • +54

I think your definition of 'steal' is fairly different to mine.

          • @fezzo: not a "steal" maybe, but a "reduced price" ?

    • +1

I'm curious to know his definition of "it's a steal" lol

      Edit: beaten above

      • Not at all. Here we go again

In all fairness where can you find an SUV of this size that has 7 year warranty, and is not Chinese made at this price point?

  • Which one is better? This one or Kona?

    • +10

all reviews would suggest Kona, but Kona way smaller in all measurements, and has near useless rear seats.

      Plus its fugly

      • +6

Am I the only one that thinks the Kona looks kinda cool?

        • +1

Nope, I like the look of the Kona too.

The ASX has an outdated look

          • +1

@BarginGrabber: Yea, same with the lancer.

        • Kona is too fugly

        • +2

Like many small SUV it looks cool, but impractical in the back.

          Basically hatchbacks on stilts!

      • Fugly? Must be new word in town. lol

    • Kona similar MY19 models (ActiveX, Highlander) are way more expensive than the ASX or even the Outlander

    • +10

Kona designed this decade at least

      • agreed, ASX debuted in 2010, I would prefer a newly designed car just for safety

      • The Eclipse Cross is more modern in looks and has a more modern 4B40 1.5L Turbo in it. But it's about the same price as the Outlander!

        • I hate the rear visibility in the Eclipse

  • +7

So what makes an SUV? They never seem very 'Sports' like to me.

    • +3

I think they all used to be 4WD or at least AWD but now just a taller hatchback. Yes not very sporty.

      • +1

        "Sports Utility…"

A biggish car just to throw all your sports equipment in? Lol

    • +25

      They’re just fake 4WDs. A hatchback with a 4WD-looking exterior.

I don’t get the appeal. Get a real 4WD or just get a normal mid-sized car.

      • +11

        Agree and cars drive better

      • +1

Cheaper and can sleep in the back is the reason I'm looking for an SVU. Although I'd like to have at AWD.
Although it did just hit me that a station wagon would do the job too.

That song played in my head.

        • +1

Dare I say it…AWD Commodore Wagon?

          • +3

@Boodek: Oh god those were thirsty

            • @spackbace: I'm talking about the current ZB rendition. There's a stack on Carsales for little money, and not thirsty like the RWD-based version.

              https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Holden-Commodore-20…

              • +5

@Boodek: Ahh, the Commodore we don't speak of 😂

              • @Boodek: 9.3l/100km for the vf2 vs 9.1l/100km is hardly an earth shattering difference. Especially if you are looking for a genuinely large car rather than a medium size car (boot volume on the zb is a big difference). Compromising size to achieve a slicker aerodynamic profile is probably part of the small difference in fuel consumption. It's really a medium size wagon trying to sell at the large wagon price point.

                • @[Deactivated]: Claimed 9.1 is very good considering the old vz AWD adventra would be double that in real life

              • @Boodek: Geez that's a lot of specs for the price but who wants a Holden these days. Such hit and miss models with all quite frankly rubbish resale value

          • @Boodek: Say goodbye to all your petrol.

        • Used subaru outback.

      • +5

Size. That's the appeal. Hatchbacks are too small/low for people's requirements, likewise a normal mid size car has more limited bootspace and it's much harder to get items in like prams etc and older people cant just 'slide in'. At the same time 4WD would be overkill for someone who just drives around in urban areas.

        • +7

Then people complain that “parking spaces are getting too small these days”. I’ve heard that over and over again lately.

No, they haven’t changed. People are just getting cars that are wider than they used to be, and significantly bigger than what they really need.

On the odd occasion you need the space, it’s useful. The rest of the time, it’s a hassle.

I’m happy with an old beater 4WD for the weekend and a hatchback for the commute and shopping.

          • +4

@[Deactivated]: Maybe the rest of the population has different wants and needs than you?

            • +9

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Seems like all they want is to drive a car that blocks everyone's view of the road and is a pain in shopping centre car parks.

              • +3

@smartazz104: If you find it annoying navigate around large SUVs on the road because they 'everyone's view of the road', how do you manage with trucks, utes, vans, and the whole range of vehicles that are much bigger than SUVs?

                • @dread22: Some of those are actually useful and are not as numerous as "SUVs"

                • @dread22: Easy done. Drive a Unimog.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Yes, many cars are so wide they nearly take up the entire width of the parking space.

        • +1

I was considering buying a ASX so I rented one for week and it was just too small compared to a sedan. Storage space in a ASX is only 442 litres. A Mazda 6 sedan has 480 and a Camry has 587!

          • +2

@Thommo: Comparing boot size based on spec sheet is a noob mistake, you need to take into account the opening size, no good having a big boot if the opening is small.

            • @mlburnian: "no good having a big boot if the opening is small."

              That's what he said

          • @Thommo: Wow, a Camry could hold a whole 145 more cartons of milk!

      • I agree, but there is 100% a market for these things.

A lot of people like the look of a SUV but are not a big fan of the size (which is strange, I agree).

Also, the 'legit' 4WD are going to cost you 5-10k+ more than the small SUVs + they are most likely gonna have a V6 or V8 Engine, which will cost a lot of money on fuel.

I love 4WD and would definitely get one in the future, but if the prices are too much then a small SUV is a good alternative for me.

        • We only live once. Don't hold back and get a 4WD ASAP.

        • +1

Lots of old people, who want vehicles with high hip points also flocking to SUVs

        • +2

Get a Jimny then. Sub 30k, small engine, good on fuel, all the offroad ability.

        • +1

Just get a Vitara AWD. It’s not a real 4WD (if you want that, get a Jimny), but it’s capable enough off-road, drives well, and isn’t too wide to get around in shopping centres.

    • It’s to take the kids to Sport having the Utility to take all their stuff!
Oh and a high seating position so you can watch little jonney without getting out of the car

      • +1

Don’t think you understand volume of a boot. You don’t need an SUV to take all your stuff in the boot. A Kona, ASX or CX-3 are actually pretty small when it comes to boot size. Some small wagons actually embarrass them…

        • Wasn't talking about those small SUVs

    • +4

Oh I thought the "S" was for "Suburban," as that's their natural habitat

  • +10

    Jimny.

  • +14

    Just in time…Thanks OP…bought 100

    • How? I can't even find the button to add it to the shopping cart.

  • +28

Exact same car for what, 9yrs or so now? Just with minor wheel changes and stereo changes.

Base model lacks any modern safety features (Lane Departure, Active Cruise etc).

And unless they've fixed their CVTs, they're horrible gearboxes.

Interesting seeing how little has changed in 9yrs

    • +1

The 3rd gen ASX concept debuted in 2007 and launched 2010.
Heavy, slow, not that great economy.
And as noted, this is the bare bones model. Lucky its got Bluetooth I guess.
At 15000km service intervals an average owner may get 3 services for free.

      • +3

At 15000km service intervals an average owner may get 3 services for free.

Except it's every 12 months, so you'll only get 2 services. Which are worth $240 each

        • 15,000km or 12 months. Whichever comes first, no?

        • And $480 for 2 oil changes and 2 filters is not a great deal at all. The rest of service is just a series of checks.

One of my cars is still in final year of capped price servicing but got it serviced elsewhere where I can provide my own higher quality oil. Everything is an damn up sell attempt. Even rotating wheels which would take a few mins once car is off the ground is extra.

    • +15

I got a 2012 Aspire. The quality of the car is pretty poor.

      • AC broke after one and half years
      • exhaust broke after two years, Center-locking failed after 4 years
      • cheap plastic all over (including the body panels)
      • so noisy
      • absolutely no power. merging to highway is a nightmare
      • not to mention the terrible CVT gearbox

I would not recommend this to anyone

      • +2

Sorry to hear, but thanks for telling people :)
