          cheaper from the US one

          Isn't that in USD?
Also states that it doesn't ship to Australia
(This item does not ship to <city>, Australia. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally. Learn more)

Edit: Went to checkout to confirm:
"Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address. Learn more. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

          • @CC123: is amazon the seller?

          • +1

@CC123: It works for me. Screenshot $249USD which rounds to $350AUD.

            • @timliu1996: Okay so I opened the SSD in an incognito tab, that appeared to have shown that it does want to ship to Aus but it doesn't want to ship to me.

I apologise for that, should have checked all angels

Intel provides direct International warranty (pay for FedEx to/from) so no issues there…

      • -1

where does it say? for their processors, they exclude Australia

        • +11

Sorry but you're 100% incorrect they exclude nothing. I have RMA'd many CPU's & SSD's over the years without issues. Everything from Pentium II era, to an i9 7940X, and multiple 1.2TB Intel 750 SSD'd recently directly.

In every instance they have paid for FedEx pickup & delivery from Singapore without failure. Average RMA time including shipping to & replacement from was 7-8 days (calendar not business days), far better than any service provided by a local retailer or supplier.

          https://supporttickets.intel.com/warrantyinfo

Never once was I asked for a receipt either as they go by the serial number/ ship date in the event a receipt isn't available.

        • +2

I RMA’d a NUC purchased overseas their process was excellent.
They paid for shipping both ways.

    • nice find

$333 for 2TB SSD is insane. Can't wait for externals at this price.

  • Newegg have it for $310 before GST: https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/Product/Product.aspx?Ite…
They charge the GST so it ends up $341.

How does B&H work if they don't charge the GST?

    • Plus $15.96 shipping to au.
      Total 356.96 aud.
      But not bad at all.
Problem is my boot drive is 512gb nvme. How would I clone it to new nvme if my mobo has one nvme slot?

      • painful - maybe use a bootable linux install to do a 2 stage transfer or directly with a usb-nvme stick?

      • +2

you can buy a cheap pci-express adaptor

        • ^ this - there are various PCIe to M.2 adaptors out there on the market, you just put it in the corresponding PCIe slot and clone away.

      • +2

        Free mini partition wizard.
Whatever tool you use make sure the tool auto aligns ssd’s, otherwise performance is impacted

Sometimes a fresh build is cleaner

Buy a 2TB portable usb hard drive and clone it to that and then install new nvme and clone to the new drive

I just bought this cheap "USB 3.1 Type-C To NVME M.2 M-KEY SSD Hard Disk External Box Enclosure " a few weeks ago. It's done the job. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-3-1-Type-C-To-NVME-M-2-M-KEY…

    • I bet customs would see and charge you directly

      • +1

Customs are only tasked to collect GST for items adobe $1K.

        • -1

Incorrect mate it's also under $1k now. Blame Gerry for that

          • +1

@solidussnake: They just chuck GST on top if <1k

          • +1

@solidussnake: It is but the government has only tasked retailers with collecting the tax, instead of customs with collecting it as it enters the country.

Some companies (Ebay, Amazon) afraid of the backlash do collect it, but others don't. At some point the tax office may choose to take action against them but till then…….

This is the stupidity of making international sellers with no footprint locally tax collectors.

            • @xuqi:

              What action?

The Australian Government cannot apply Australian law to foreign businesses.

All it can do is intercept the packages they sell and further inconvenience Australian citizens who are already having their economy and themselves (profanity) over by the GST.

              Fools voted for this situation.

    • How does B&H work if they don't charge the GST?

They comply with the tax jurisdiction they operate in where the Australian Government has none to apply the unfair GST.

  • -5

Why don't they make it look a lot nicer?

    • Haha?

    • How do you mean? Do you want flashing lights like 'gaming' headsets?

    • So that you can custom print your own design and stick it on the chips.

      • NVRMND, it appears they come with stickers.

    • How often would you look at it? It's as small as a stick of chewing gum and will in most cases be entirely hidden by other components.

  • Their webpage says at checkout

    "Duties & Tax

Orders being shipped to Australia that do not exceed $1,000 AUD will be imported free of Duties, Taxes & Customs and Border Protection charges."

    Nice deal OP.

I have purchased a few things from B&H around similar price and can confirm I was not charged GST. This is as recently as a couple of months ago

  • 1tb

    • Yeah…and only have half the capacity!

  • How does this compare to samsung evo 960? Or 970?

    • Samsung's offering has better read and write speeds.

  • +3

PSA: It's a great entry level NVME, but performance benchmarks are more like SATA SSDs, ie not even close to Samsung Evo etc.
It's a result of the QLC productions, which lower the production cost and performance at the same time.

    • Definitely not the fastest NVME, the sustained write performance is weak compared to premium SATA SSDs. I can't find a 2TB SATA SSD cheaper, even the QVO SATA SSD costs $2 more.

So if you have a NVME slot on your board and require 2TB, this has to be considered an excellent deal.

  • Would love a thunderbolt 3 enclosure for my evo but soooo expensive.

  • Just trying to work out the use case for something like this. Are people using these as a boot and storage together to eliminate having to buy a separate ssd for boot and 3.5" hdd for storage?

    • +2

Hehe typical ozbargainer, prodding for unknown reasons to buy :)

      • +2

        caught red handed…

    • Yeah I will be using this as a boot drive and as well as putting a couple of games I play most on it. It's a bit overkill, but the extra storage means I don't have to worry when newer games come out. Hope this helps.

    • I'm thinking of building a mini itx pc in a small case. I could use my existing 512gb 970 evo for boot drive/os (windows + work apps + vm) and get this for music/games (which is around 1.5Tb, I also have an external drive for archiving), using this as storage drive will free up space and cable clutter from a traditional hdd or ssd. Most decent intel boards has 2 nvme slots, and many amd boards do too but with a slower 2nd nvme slot (pcie 3 x2). Given this intel drive isn't maxing out pice 3 x4 anyway and priced at sata level, it's a bargain for this purpose.

  • WTF so cheap…

  • Can confirm, B&H don't care about aussie GST & Tax laws, you'll be fine.

  • Would anyone have a clue whether this is compatible with HP Spectre from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240330 ?

Hard to find any info on the web but the motherboard is compatible with pci-e.

  • Shipping: $16.00

Did some investigation, just FYI the write lifetime of this drive is pretty low, at least compared to Samsung's drives. Hope these numbers are correct!

Intel 660p 2TB = 400TBW (Terabytes written) over it's lifetime. The lowest of the Samsung QVO series 2TB drive is 720TBW.

    Some comparisons:

    Intel 660p 2TB - M.2 (lowest durability, cheapest m.2):
    $333 = $166.50/TB (this offer)
    400TBW = 200TBW/TB

Samsung 860 QVO 2TB - SATA (lower durability, cheapest):
    $329 = $164.50/TB (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/448836)
    720TBW = 360TBW/TB

Samsung 970 EVO 2TB - M.2 (medium durability, avg price):
    $606.60 = $303.30/TB (eBay: https://bit.ly/2KiTGEe)
    1200TBW = 600TBW/TB

Samsung 970 PRO 1TB - M.2 (high durability, higher price):
    $413.10 = $413.10/TB (eBay: https://bit.ly/2VxssuU)
    1200TBW = 1200TBW/TB

    • Nice work. You may have convinced me not to buy the 660p!

      • Ended up pulling the trigger on this. 5 year warranty, plus some rhetoric on other forums.

But I'll still be backing up things to my NAS, as usual :)

    • Looks like the QVO is the way to go unless your device has no 2.5" bay. It's down to $285 now - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/449676

Purchased one of these, arrived today.

    Instant regret.

Watch this video to know what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OffzVc7ZB-o&fbclid=IwAR1_vul…

Terrible for large writes. Trying to copy all my games across. Was going at 500mbps (My SATA SSD Source drive limit). When the copy got about half way through, it dropped to around 70-90mbps - HDD speeds…

Better off getting a couple 1TB Sata SSDs and set them up for striping for better speeds.

    • The read speeds should be the same though, so once you've finished copying it across, playing the games should give similar performance as other NVME drives.
