    Not $1? Lol

  • Oh so it's actually working now is it?

  • I wouldn't pay more than $15 for this experience in my opinion.

      Let’s see…

Each gondola holds 8 people, and there are 21 gondolas with a 30 minute rotation. So the ride can hold 84 people per hour.

It’s open 11 hours per day. So 924 people can ride per day. At $15 per ticket, they can make $13,860 per day.

At $100 million to build, they will break even in 7,215 days.. or 20 years if the ride is at maximum capacity for every hour of every day, with zero operating costs.

This is Melbourne’s big white elephant.

      • You’re forgetting that the regular price for these tickets are usually $36.

        • The wheel is owned by the real estate company that also owns the surrounding shopping development. It also pays for itself indirectly through the higher rent they charge to shop tennants, on the basis that the wheel attracts customers to the shopping area.

@Jonty766: Even though the area is a ghost town so clearly customers aren't being attracted.

            • @sinewaves7: Ok, I'll rephrase as "it's meant to pay for itself by…"!
I haven't been for a while, but one positive thing was that the parking is fairly cheap for so close to the city!

        • I think I'm making enough assumptions to make my point.
