Thought it was for the whole April. Then I re-read and it's only Tuesday.
Still a good deal, especially as it includes the airport access fee but I catch buses instead :(

  • For the duration of the offer, Bendigo Bank will refund eligible travel costs that are incurred on Tuesdays (which may include the Sydney Airport station access fee) up to a maximum of $15.80 AUD per day.

From Central to the airport is $17.84, so you'll still pay $2.08 (assuming you take no other public transport on Tuesday)

    • I wonder if Daily Cap is being observed with this card.

      • Yes, when using contactless you are able to take advantage of the daily ($15.80), weekly ($63.20), and Sunday ($2.70, if you haven't already reached the weekly cap).

This is why Bendigo is refunding up to $15.80 for the day, as that's the daily cap. (not including airport access)

It says 'may'. Such a weasel word.

      • +1

Pretty sure May is used as it would be incorrect to not use may in the sentence given they will not refund it if it was not incurred. In this case I think May means it will be refunded if it is incurred.

“Bendigo Bank will refund eligible travel costs that are incurred on Tuesdays (which may include the Sydney Airport station access fee) up to a maximum of $15.80 AUD per day.”

Should have used "including…" instead of "which may include…".

          • -1

@orangetrain: They should have structured the sentence better. I don’t think including works, because that means that eligible travel costs that are incurred on Tuesdays includes the Sydney Airport station access fee, when it doesn’t always

  • I was going to comment on how mediocre this deal would be for me since I still have to pay for the bus portions and I'd lose the $2 bus-to-train transfer discount. But then I read that the mode of transport discount isn't planned to be included anyway, likewise with the daily cap.

    • I thought it was because buses don't accept credit cards yet, or at least it didn't when I was using the AMEX deal.

      • Yes, contactless isn't yet supported on buses.

      • Yes, but it doesn't appear to be the reason for the lack of transfer discounts in general (i.e. with ferries and light rail). Also doesn't include weekly travel rewards, off-peak train fares, Opal Trip Advantage and free access to Park&Ride carparks.

  • $5 Account keeping fee if deposit less than $2000 per month.
    annoying for new applicants

I wonder if this applies to Up bank. :P

    • I would like to know this too.

  • Didn't work on the bus this morning; had to catch the light rail home instead.

    • Doesn't work on buses. Also the free travel is only processed later from what I gather.

  • Not totally related but I wonder what the fare would be if you had a qantas travel money card (MasterCard) https://www.qantasmoney.com/travel-money-card loaded with a foreign currency and tapped on at an opal card reader.

$1 AUD is currently £0.54 British Pounds.

    • I have seen no one has reported using this sort of card. I would say no coz these prepaid debit cards do not allow pre-authorization. Opal card reader does not accept it. I could be wrong, though.
