      Oh no

As someone who likes their circa-$200 Chinadroids, I'm not seeing much downside here?

Presumably no trouble whatsoever using it on Aus mobile services? (Had some troubles up front with a Sharp Z2 in this regard, an otherwise brilliant phone for the price.)

      720p on a 6.3” screen

      That’s absurd

To say 720p on a 6.3" screen is "Absurd" strikes me as ridiculously over-dramatic. I am not glued to my phone and social media, and my primary viewing device for movies etc is this remarkable old-school device called a "TV"; it's massive, beaut picture, it's unreal.

And get this- Im currently relating this info to you via the more-than-adequate-especially-seeing-as-they-barely-existed-10-years-ago portable internet-enabled audio & visual telecommunications device called a Vodafone Smart E8 on a …..wait for it….480x854 5" screen!!?!?!#@!!!

        The Horror!!

ahaha it only cost me $40 would you believe, and will be my backup for a few years yet I'm guessing.

I even watched a movie on it once when the power was out….and it was pretty damn good under the circumstances!

And I was not embarrassed at being reduced to such a pitiful state, questioning the futility and ignomy of the wretch that I was and had become, stooping to even bare my eyes at some amazing, tiny screen, an absolutely astonishing marvel of the modern age, and a profound testament to man's ingenuity…..simply because it didn't have 4 billion x 4 billion 8-dimensional pixels aged no older than precisely 5 hours or less, cascading and dancing off the screen, literally bonding with me at a molecular level, lighting my skin from within, making not only my whole body pulsate and glow with moody palettes carefully synced to the onscreen action, but doing the same also to my dogs arsehole as it happily snuggled alongside, because it's just an amazing high-end feature only a godforsaken luddite with the pov-pack sub-$1K screen (ewwwwww) would ever dream of going without.

So yeah, 720p will be just fine. Can you bear it?

        • Someone please give this man a Pulitzer Prize please.

What's adequate to you obviously isn't good enough for Thrawn. No need to take a big, steaming dump on him/her.

A simple, "I have a lower res phone, and it's good enough for me," would suffice.

        • Lol

No band 28 and NFC? Well some of Samsung by budget phone like the J5 Pro has these and it's falling to around $250 nowadays when not in super sale, with Samsung Pay on top. You also get bonus of local warranty and AMOLED screen but worse chipset, camera and lower OS version (Oreo instead of Pie but Pie is promised at year end). Same RAM and storage.

Anyway the budget and midrange segments are actually getting really crowded now there's no clear cut winner.
