I have one of these and would highly recommend. Screen is beautiful and the portability due to its lightness is fantastic. And it hands down has the nicest laptop keyboard I've ever typed on. The battery life isn't amazing however.

    • claimed to be 14.5hours, what do you get out of it?

      • I love my Surface as well, I probably get around 9 hours out of it.

    • Would battery be at least as good as a Mac air? How many hours do you get to say battery life is poor?

    • I do use it on 100% brightness and I use it mostly for doing work in word and some light Netflix and web browsing (using Chrome) and I get around 7 hours. I have tried Microsoft edge and that brought battery to around 8 hours although it isn't as great a browser imo. I would still say that this one con doesn't outweigh the pros at all. It is (imo) the best windows alternative to a MacBook in terms of build quality, life expectancy and display quality. (I haven't said in terms of performance as many windows laptops all use the same specs and the difference is miniscule amongst them.)

      • question, for Microsoft s, how do u get chrome

        • I'm not 100% sure what you mean but I assume you are referring to how the first generation of surface laptop's had Windows S as their OS however the second gen does not and instead has windows 10 home so chrome is easy to download and install.

          • @JAF: aaahh damn yeah, first gen have windows s, can only install things in the app store…..

  • I love the Surface line but… no USB-C, no deal! I'll just stick with my SP4 for now.

      can't you get an adaptor?

      • +1

Yea the lack of USB C is definitely annoying, I feel like Microsoft were going for aesthetic over function.

You can get an adaptor, but even with these full-sized laptops they only give you one USB-A port which is just ridiculous. Time to move on from their proprietary charging adaptor too.

For whatever reason the black colour is another $100 cheaper… I just bought one :)

If you are eligible for Suncorp Rewards (I am through insurance with AAMI) you can get 5% off JB gift cards (I could only order two $500 cards as there is a daily spend limit; seems to be $1000).
And then I'll claim the tax back on my upcoming trip to Indo at easter :)
    Total price down to $1,400!

I picked mine up for $1500 at TGG. Last one they had right at the end of the day. Mentioned Microsoft had them for $1597 then had 7% cash rewards so could pick one up for just under $1500. Pretty happy with the purchase. Thanks heaps for posting this deal as I've been wanting one for a while
