Just saw this on Instagram. Facebook
10,000 units available. Redeemed through app.
The promo ends on the 28th
So only the meat is free? $13.9 for the salads & bun ;)
In store only offer. Scan App barcode.
Their App is not set up for offers when placing online order.
Free burger / 10500pts shows under Rewards.
No points or offer in my rewards.
Oooh, I've been wanting to try a beyond burger for a while now.
Booo, no locations near me.
Gotten the patties from Coles Mackay before, pretty good!
Jeff Novick says Beyond Burger has too much fat, more than McDonald's, he recommends the E2 Burger or something similar. If you can conveniently get it for free maybe try it if you are not overweight or trying to watch your weight.

It would appear he's got his maths wrong.
22g of fat in a 113g pattie is not "65% fat"
Just took a quick look, but the nutritional information seems to compare pretty evenly against a beef pattie.
I think he was calculating percentage of calories from fat based on the second burger's review.
No that's correct. There are roughly 9 calories per gram of fat and a single burger has 290 calories.
22 * 9 / 290 * 100 = 68%
But it's a moot point as it's either no different or better than a beef burger, depending on the brand and type of course.
Nah you read him wrong, it's calories from fat which is 65%. 23 grams from Carbs and Protein X 4 calories = 92
22 grams from fat X 9 calories = 198
I'd say 198 of 92 is about 65%.
It's a burger…regardless of whether it's made of meat or not you should avoid eating burgers at all if you're trying to eat better. But that said, in comparison to a standard beef burger (looking at a few at Woolworths now) a beyond burger has:
https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/316396/woo…
https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/732917/bea…
Not to mention it has far less of an impact on the environment than a standard beef burger.
burgers can be healthy. depends what you put on them
Fat still being treated as a demon lmao. I'm overweight and going to eat this, you can't stop me.
Also that Jeff guy's post reads an angry teen rant, absolute crap!
You part of the fat acceptance movement?
It appears that you are still believing the old myth that fat is bad for us ;)
I was going to say the same thing. It's like the old food pyramid which is now the opposite.
@freemoneyhunter: Where do you derive that wisdom from? Any recent paper in a peer reviewed journal you could link to?
CONCLUSION:
A strict, very low-fat vegetarian diet free from all animal products combined with lifestyle changes that include exercise and weight loss is an effective way to lower serum cholesterol and blood pressure.
The second half of that sentence is the crucial bit. Basically any intervention that limits calories and adds exercise, enough to lead to significant weight loss, will be just as beneficial.
@team teri: I already have unnaturally low blood pressure and fairly decent cholesterol despite being overweight.
I'm going to go eat more burgers.
edit: holy christ that link is insane. It's that you'll lower blood pressure and cholesterol if you crash diet and exercise for 12 days. That's not normal health advice for anyone.
@team teri: Vegetarian diets are bad for us…We are carnivores and you can't change that. It's funny how people that eat carnivore (100% high fat meat, no veges or fruit) lower their cholesterol without exercise and also get all of their required nutrients with proven blood tests years after starting…or how people who eat keto which is a high fat diet end up lowering their cholesterol. Fat is good for us and the food industry has destroyed many peoples lives with all the added crap they have allowed to be put in products
@Teedo: Enjoy your scurvy and colon cancer.
@Yarkin: It's funny you say that, because eating 100% meat with no fruit, veges or grains is a way to heal your digestive issues. In fact every poop is 'perfect' on the poop scale. Your body utilises meat VERY efficiently and there's not much waste until you start adding in plants or grains.
Added burger to cart. Doesn’t change price. How do I redeem?
In store only offer! Scan App barcode to pay.
makes sense in store only … stops people ordering 10 burgers online and getting them picked up …free offer promotions try to attract new customers, or offer the chance to upsell, don't get that chance if person on a bike picks up free burger and drives off.
"they may take our lives, but they will never take our beef burgers" - William Wallace 1305
How does one actually redeem this free burger?
On the rewards page it says 1 free burger, however when you go to order there is no option to redeem it.
In store only offer!
Joined up in app, confirmed mobile number, 10500 pts (free burger) in Rewards🍔
Can you redeem it?
Yes how do we redeem?
Too far from the 2 stores in QLD to place order at the moment.
Will be ordering in store with bar code to use points. Some other food apps (eg Zeus) have difficulty placing orders with offers. So I ask staff.
Could ask on Messenger. Got a welcome message.
Do you get 10,000 points for joining?
10500pts shows in Rewards.
I assume 500 for joining & 10000 in promo.
States it's 10000 pts for a free burger.
May be able to apply to other burgers etc by scanning barcode in store.
Only 2 stores in QLD - Brisbane (Valley & Gabba)
Valley store was excellent when I went a year or two ago.
Another food review by stickyfingers😀
More like greasyfingers after that burger 🤤
@stickyfingers: If those fingers are greasy, how did you end up with sticky fingers?
They did the same in December or January. You can't redeem anything.
Edit: Check the reviews of the app too…
Yes same problem. Unable to redeem.. Free burger voucher shows up, but no way to find it or apply it when in the shopping cart
Have you tried scanning App barcode in store to pay for purchase? Had problems with another food order app, but worked in store.
Will give it a try
was the same same with the grilled relish offers, one was a free burger (pork and kangaroos) had to scan phone in store.
there offers are to build a business, so scanning in store allows them build up database of customers, and location services allows them to work out where their customer base lives ….
the businesses are getting smarter in what they give away, and what information they collect and relationship they build with customers.
So for those wondering how to redeem, I can confirm that you just show the app in person. The free burger should be visible under the 'rewards' section of the app. It is only valid for the Beyond Original burger.
My conversation with Ribs & Burgers on Facebook: https://imgur.com/rMPYSk5
Yes, these type of offers are usually in store only, not for online orders. Their App is not set up for offers when placing online order.
Scan App barcode in store (as I have been suggesting).
As offer is added as 10000+ points (enough for any burger) - I wonder if it is really limited to just this burger??
Thanks for confirming👍
Anyone knows if this has to be dine in or can we take away?
You can either dine in or take away. Asked in store earlier.
@joyfulpatrick: Thanks!
@joyfulpatrick: that's great. grill'd makes you dine-in when they have offers.
@tdw: Just to clarify, I went to the Hawthorn store in VIC. I was offered the original only but it looks like others were offered the option between original or the old school cheese. Based on this I’m not sure if different stores will have different policies about dine in or take away.
@joyfulpatrick: I was told I could only get the Beyond Burger with my points but was offered the choice between original or cheese at the Perth store.
@stickyfingers: Could you take away or dine in?
@ilovefullprice: Either. We dined in.
@stickyfingers: Great thanks!
Good to know, cheers
I was offered the original or the old school cheese
At rhodes only the original can be redeemed
Any reviews on the burger? Sure it doesn't contain meat but does it still taste good?
Next you'll be asking what animal … yes, it's miscellaneous meat, not it's not kosher/halal/vegan certified.
I have no idea what you are trying to say?
I just asked if it tastes alright.
If you are used to non-animal-flesh burgers you may find it confrontational; I liked and was sickened by it at the same time, will not eat it again in a hurry, if ever.
That said I know many who think it's great.
@fantombloo: Literally sickened, or mentally disliked the idea of eating something that tastes like meat? Because if it's the latter I'm confused why you'd try it in the first place!
Literally sickened, or mentally disliked
IMO these can blur into each other. In my case I'm pretty sure a nostalgic bend was in dissonance with my current frame of mind.
Because if it's the latter I'm confused why you'd try it in the first place!
Apart from sampling recent food tech, I thought i'd see what it is people keep trying to remind me I'm missing out on. It turns out not much really.
I tried the beyond burger patty yesterday which was frozen. We defrosted it in the microwave and then grilled it. I am a meathead and love meat.
There is absolutely no difference between a meat burger and this one. I was surprised and my mind was blown to be honest how well it imitated beef !
My only criticism maybe the price it was almost 14$ for 2 frozen patties.
No cute baby cows haunting your dreams tonight
LMAO. Laying it on thick aren't they?
Btw is it as filling as meat? Or does it just taste like it.
I've got to say though, for someone I've never heard of before, they've got quite a few stores around in Sydney.
Just finished mine :) Tastes great and a good size. Not too big but not too small either. Filling? Maybe not 'filling' but definitely satisfying. Can highly recommend and although not exactly local for me I'll definitely keep them in mind whenever I'm out & about.
🐮Some people have strange dreams🐮
Yeah, nice! Literally eating one from one hand while typing with the other :) Tastes great with that nice char flavour.
Thanks OP
Thanks op
Does it have to be redeemed in the next 10 days? Or once you have the points added to your account it can be used any time?
How do I find the barcode for them to scan??
Click on the 'card' button in the app
Just got back from the states and was suprised how many places (often meat based) offered Beyond burgers and impossible burgers… hopefully more places in Melbourne pick them up
Wishful thinking, but I wish that Mcdonald's would take up the beyond patty.
Impossible!
do they deliver?
For an in store only deal?
I can't even register. It's saying "You do not have permission to access this resource". What am I doing wrong?
10k claimed?
Not sure. But it wouldn't even work last night.
Maybe you should ask them before leaving a 1 star review, Le…
I sent them an email. Still waiting for a reply. You don't think having an app where you cannot register warrants a 1 star?
Update: I amended my review to reflect that I resolved the issue without their help - it's 4 stars from me now. Happy days pennypincher!
How long did you give them to respond before you gave a 1 star review though..
But cool happy days!
Just claimed 2 burgers this evening - scanned from the app in store on 2 phones and worked fine! Burger was delicious - got my vegetarian wife to finally get a taste of what she's been missing out on!
So she liked it? Date night sorted💘
A lot of vegans / vegetarians in Australia usually have tasted meat.
Those brought up in a religious faith forbidding it may not. That is more common in other cultures.
They're everywhere now!
Even a certain Ozbargainer in this deal was a Rugby playing son of a butcher - now a wonderful vegetarian😉
Wow, I picked one up from the Hawthorn store and well, wow. That was pretty damn tasty. It was juicy and messy and I loved every bite.
Best of all I seem to still have one available in the app. I'll be back.
Easy, install app, scan in store, uninstall app. Burger? Make up your own mind no meat apparently
Not good. Compared to the Beyond Burger I got for free from Grill'd it just tasted like burnt toast.
I think they intentionally char it to mimic a meat burger more closely. I don't like that taste though.
Then it has this sauce on top which is pretty sour. I have a sore on my tongue from the sourness.
The thick pile of salad is off-putting, but remove them (or eat separately) and you get a decent burger. The beetroot red makes a good pink beef colour. Paddy texture is too soft. These paddies are used in Lord of the Fries.
St Patrick's day has gone already.
Oops, I haven't stopped drinking since then
Claimed my free one today. Didn't enjoy it at all. Maybe it was under-cooked? What do you reckon? https://imgur.com/a/ZpOBo1T
I found it too soft/squishy. Was surprised they went to the trouble of emulating gristle somehow. That and the burnt flavour of the outside reminded me of Hungry Jacks - that's not a good thing, haven't been to HJ in years because of that.
Have had a grumbling tummy for the last couple of hours. Not keen to repeat the experience.
Same, it is too squishy and with a burnt flavour. The gristle emulation is good though.
My wife and I both redeemed our free burgers today. Both our burgers were burnt. Whilst I am grateful for Ribs&Burgers to offer free burgers, it was the least enjoyable burger I had in years.
choose the one with cheese. like others have said, they char the buns and patty but it wasn't over the top. it was also on the soft, squishy side but not to the point of feeling gross. probably just varies from store to store. my only gripe was that it wasn't filling enough.
Don't see anything free on the app… I can order it $13.9. Note that this burger is meat-free.
