Hi all, This is likely your last chance to get Office 2019 via the Home Use Program for around $21.

All countries have moved to offering Office 365 at 30% off (per year subscription) instead of Office as a download. The US haven't started the 365 offer yet and if you use the old link to HUP you can still order Office 2019 for $14.99 USD (Windows or Mac) and Project/Visio offers as well. The new link says HUP is coming back to the US soon (and was due to launch at the start of the year) so this work around is not going to last long.

To get Office for $21 you need to have access to a company email address that participants in HUP. Most big companies do so just try your work email and see if you get an email back allowing you to order.

To order go to https://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/home.aspx?culture=en-US

You may need to copy/paste into the link in an InPrivate tab so the page opens without it going to the office 365 page (if you get the office 365 offer try another browser as it does work). Note: For me if I click the link I get the office 365 offer but if I paste it in the browser I get the Office 2019 offer.

Don’t change the country otherwise it will go back to office 365 just use company email address then copy link from email you receive and put in an InPrivate tab (again clicking the link may take you to the office 365 offer so copy and paste).

You can put you real address with state as California and zip 90210 😊(or whatever address you like), you can get a phone number from https://fakenumber.org/

Place your order and get your key and link instantly.

Enjoy and act fast as I doubt this will last much longer and is likely the last version of Office you will get without needing a subscription to office 356.

Didn't think it would work for my org but purchase went through! Awesome, been looking for an upgrade for my office 2013 from HUP

    • Great. Much appreciated if you can help on this. My organisation is eligible and I received an email to access the HUP offer.

The link in the email takes me only to Office 365 and not Office 2019 with Country as Australia.

I tried copying the URL and pasted in different browsers and yet only Office 365 is offered.
Even further, I entered each letter in the URL in my mobile browser and didn't work.

Also, noticed when I access the link by changing to the country to US, then it says below

The new Microsoft Home Use Program will be launching in the U.S. soon.
You’re invited to come back in early 2019 and take advantage of this exclusive program.

    • are there any big differences from MS office 2013 professional to the 2019 HUP version for those that use excel, and word mainly? 2013 had access to the onedrive cloud still so I am wondering if it's necessary to upgrade?

This is my 3rd computer I am trying to install my 2013 HUP on, and I am abit worried that buying the 2019 HUP would be rendering my 2013 HUP useless - as I think I read somewhere 3 computers max. So seems abit of a waste to be installing 2013 now then burning that last installation allowance, by replacing it with 2019 (which in itself only allows one installation, which I believe even if your computer dies it's tough luck? you can't reinstall on a new computer?)

Or can 2013/2019 HUP's be installed on new laptops if you notify that your old ones are gone and dusted?

  • Thanks OP and others with tips, got the home office for my mac.

  • Just use the workaround lads. Add a live.com.au alias to your hotmail or outlook.com or live.com address and use that email. live.com.au has HUP usage rights.

    • +4

I still get "Enter your organization's program code:" when I do this.

      • This

        • Well that changed in the last week. Ah well. Was good while it lasted.

          • @retro7: so you can no longer access the 2019 HUP through Hotmail or creating new email addresses?

      • Worked with live.com.au… this was 1 month ago for me

    • I have never had an @live.com email and apparently they cannot now be created.

If you have office 365 at work, you can load on home machine and use with your work login no subscription needed. Leave your work you have 30 days to subscribe or get new job with office 365 …..

    • +1

Yeah we know this, I don't want to work for a place just because they give out office 365 account to employees….

      That's not a bargain itself

  • +2

Stuck at organisation code. .. :(

  • +1

…you need to have access to a company email address that participants in HUP…

You may like to mention that a little earlier in your spiel.

  • Has anyone managed to get Visio and project 2019? I can’t see them in my screen?

    • It depends on your employer's licensing agreement with Microsoft as to which software are available.

    • +1

Visio & Project 2019 are add-on purchases with the 2016 & 2019 office suites and aren't included in Home&Business or ProPlus. Your work Administrator will have to explicitly add them for purchase on your Work at Home portal.

      • It's more than that, Visio and Project have never actually been included in any Microsoft Office editions, as they've always been standalone products which just share UI similarities and some format interoperability with other Office family products.

They are completely separate products with completely separate product keys and Project is by far and away the most expensive standalone Microsoft product, with the going rate hovering around ~$1,000 for a Project Standard retail licence and usually double that for a Project Professional retail licence.

  • Can it be installed on 2x Macs?

  • Does anyone know if you can install this on MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER?

The description states only one Mac or PC but I think it used to say that in the past yet with previous versions but could be installed on more than one.

I have a Mac Desktop and a laptop so I need to install it on both.

    • it depends upon your organization volume license agreement

      • HUP is a separate entitlement.

        • Correct ….if you have office 365 at work, hilup is an extra licensing and so cost to company…lots of companies now just tell employees to download office365 and use work account.

        • And is still part of enterprise volume license agreement

    • I guess it depends on the type of key you get?

  • +1

    cant work without HUP :(

  • Looks good but OpenOffice is a good alternative and it is FOC.
I have used it for the last 3 years, works well. There are a few differences to get used to, but I can do everything I used to do in Word, even save files in .doc format.

    • LibreOffice is far better.

But, if you use Linux then MS Office Online is free and is the bees knees for compatibility - especially Excel spreadsheets

      • Open Office - does excel and word still use same formulas and functions and the files created are still easily transferable to excel and word? As I'm considering these as an alternative?

If I can't get MS office to work that is.

  • No matter how I tried, copied and pasted the link or clicked the link directly, it pointed me to office 365…

When you guys activated for the first time, did you use your work email to sign in or personal email? I tried work email but it kept asking me to sign in again. Worked with personal email though

    • work email to submit claim

personal email to use but instead of signing in open any program and hit skip to add account the next page asks you to create an account or sign in do neither click the option underneath "I don't want to sign in or create an account"

then it asks you to input product key

  • Thanks OP. Got one for the Mac and one for PC. Shame we’re losing this benefit, have been using it for years.

    • Which one has the office for MAC?

  • I'm still using ms word 2016 :'(

    • 2007 here

      • 2010

Office 2003 on a dedicated Win XP box. Rock solid, pull down menus instead of ribbons and I can even activate Clippy if I don't feel like thinking.

      • Office 2003 works no problems on Windows 10 with the exception of some weird issues in Outlook. If you install it with all programs except Outlook and install Office 2003 SP3 you're good to go.

        • Yet Project 2013 was/is a known issue. Free upgrade to 2016.

        • …as long as you don't have any other software that integrates with Office. Otherwise you'll have a bad time.

      • The main issue with Office 2007 and older, is that Microsoft deprecated their interoperability with all modern versions of Microsoft Exchange Server (i.e. Exchange 2013 and newer) back in 2017, so connecting Outlook 2007/2003 to an Exchange Server or an Office 365 mailbox is no longer possible unless you run EOL versions of Exchange which no one does, and that effectively makes Office 2007 and older completely useless for organisations.

Not only that but those editions of Office being end-of-life means they are no longer patched, so they are vulnerable to a whole host of exploits that can be triggered by opening maliciously-coded Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents or even remote vulnerabilities.

    Hey Tecchies -
Any way to get this offer using either a windows live mail alias [email protected] - What program code do I use???
    OR
a plain old gmail.com email? Program code???
    Anyone?????
    Thanks - DD 007 ;)

    • gmail.com & live.com.au are not work email addresses so the answer is no. Your employer needs to have a large scale contract with Microsoft to be eligible for this 'work at home' program.

  • If I own 3 computer can I install and run it licensed across the 3 machines with the one license purchase?

    • +1

You can but you may run into one of the activation attempts getting flagged and you have to call the phone activation service then when prompted press either 1 or 2 on the phone keypad (can't remember which one) to say that you have removed the software from the old PC and are transferring it to a new one. After this they will all work no problems.

  • Thanks, used my wife's work account. Don't need it at the moment but good to have for later.

Many thanks, vanleeuwen!! Was in the market for this but short of paying ~$199 or getting a dodgy one off ebay (which I wouldn't have anyway), there weren't any other options. You sir are a legend! Much appreciated.

  • It is asking for "Enter your organization's program code: Program Code required"

Anyone have a program code for the Education Department (SA)?

  • Hey guys, Much appreciated if you can help on this. My organisation is eligible and I received an email to access the HUP offer.

The link in the email takes me only to Office 365 and not Office 2019 with Country as Australia.

You’re invited to come back in early 2019 and take advantage of this exclusive program.

  • I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but here's what I've tried:

    1. I'm using my work laptop which runs Windows 7
    2. I opened an InPrivate tab in Internet Explorer
    3. I went to the address given in the deal description
    4. I entered my work email address
    5. I got an email at my work address saying "Congratulations! You’re eligible for the Microsoft Home Use Program" and there's a button that says "Login to start saving". I copy the address from the button and open it in the InPrivate tab from before.
    6. It shows a Microsoft sign in screen at the domain login.live.com. If I enter my work email address, it redirects to a few different pages but ends up at the same sign in screen, so I can't get any further.
    7. The only way I can get past the sign in screen is to enter my personal Hotmail address.
    8. It takes me to the Home Use Program page, but the only offers are Office 365 Home for AU$90.30/year or Office 365 Personal for AU$69.30/year. I don't see Office 2019 anywhere.

    Any ideas please?

    • +1

try this from b1ackmai1er which should be added to original post

    • I do exactley the steps your outlined and (step 8) it only offers are Office 365 Home for AU$90.30/year or Office 365 Personal for AU$69.30/year. I don't see Office 2019 anywhere.

I did not use any states like in the OP or any fake number, so I am not sure it's in the OP.

  • To bypass the office365 page I used a free VPN Android app called "Ultrasurf" (beta app need to be in playstore beta program) but still asks me for organization's program code so i cant get passed that umm got too see if i can find one of my live.com.au emails lolz

Anyway free VPN is located in California so handy for other situations, yes it's free not a trial

  • Can't work - on DSP -no joy

  • How does this work as far as 'tying' it to my 'Microsoft ID'? (which is my personal non-work email address).

The last time I did this for a 2016 Office I remember it was a PITA! I had lots of trouble downloading and activating it.

If anyone works for the education department in VIC and has edumail you can grab it here

    https://education-vic.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorV…

You can buy Office 2019 ProPlus, Office 2019 Home & Business and Office 2016 ProPlus for $83.22 total ($27.74 each)

  • Ahh need to get the program code boo :(

  • I moved to LibreOffice and haven't looked back.

Powerpoints have a bit of a compatibility prob though - just some formatting different. (I use Office file types).
But I can bring portable LibreOffice on a USB stick. If you have to share pptx with an Office user they might have issues

  • Worked well, cheers!

I have access to office through work, but don't want my work details to mix with my home details. If it's from me it's from me, not my business. So good one!

  • My billing address defaults to US when trying to pay. How do I resolve this?

    • They won't send you anything by mail anyway. Only way to get the deal is with an US address. Pick a random hotel in Los Angeles…

    • Care to share how you got to the payment page? My link either directs me to the Australian site with office 365 being the only option or upon changing to the US site it’s saying the HUP will be back soon

Try this link, check your eligibility. I did it this morning.

        • Did so, but the link received in the email redirects to the Aussie site or upon changing to the US site it’s saying the HUP will be back soon. Both didn’t present an option to purchase the 2019 office ProPlus on its own

  • If you're a university student, or work at a university, check onthehub - snagged Office 2019 for $20 working as a casual at UoN

  • Hi, does anyone know how to download for MAC. I was given activation code however pro plus link is only for windows.

    Thanks

    • +1

There are two versions of Office available:

-Office Professional Plus 2019 (Windows only)
-Office Home and Business 2019 (Windows or Mac)

So for Mac, make sure you purchase "Office Home and Business 2019". When clicking on the link in your confirmation email to download Office Home and Business 2019, it will ask you to login with your Microsoft account (to indirectly register your key, I'm guessing the key is somehow embedded in the email as it never asked me to enter a key). Also when downloading, the browser must have detected which OS you have as the download file is dependent on the OS you are using when downloading the file.

For anyone else having problems purchasing or installing Office, their chat support was pretty helpful. I had problems making payment and they were able to resolve the issue.

  • Just wondering, I bought the 2013 HUP: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 back years ago.

Had installed it on two unique laptops over the years. Is it true you have a limitation of laptops you can install i.e. 3?

What if one laptop conked and you needed a 4th new one? Is it tough luck and you can't uninstall one license off one of the other 3?

I was tempted to get the 2019 HUP but noted the 2013 HUP was 3 laptops max - I had started the installation process already so I assume I'm stuck as it's streaming the download already for installation? If you can't then uninstall and retain your 3rd laptop license then I might as well keep 2013 and just purchase 2019 but not install it yet… in order to retain the license.

Similarly with the 2019 HUP if one installs it on the one laptop it appears to be one time use?? So if you return your laptop for warranty and get a new one does this mean your screwed and need to repurchase another 2019 HUP, tough luck? Or can you nominate to switch your one computer license to another in these instances?

  • Just bought one! Thanks OP!

  • Can I get someone to help me with a work email and program code?

  • Just bought 1 but haven't used it yet because I need to upgrade to Windows 10…

  • Sorry to ask a dumb question, if I upgrade my computer do I lose access to MS Office or can I carry it over from one machine to another (one machine at a time of course)?

    • download a free thing called Belarc (Belarc advisor I think is the name)

It will copy all your serials on the computer and let you email it to yourself

  • IT asks for: Enter your organization's program code: Program Code required ???

  • I have Office 2010 (with a license that is forever)

Is there any point to upgrade to 2019?

I was using office 365 as I got it for free when I signed up for the Uni of Tasmania course but it seems to have expired once my student status finished

  • Free Office 365:

If it helps I used my Free for life Alumni email I setup for Melbourne Uni

    then went here: https://products.office.com/en-AU/student/office-in-educatio…

    Everything worked through that

The Alumni email is simply a redirect to my Gmail account (ie: You dont actually have a seperate email)

  • Ps if anyone could help I'd appreciate the ability to purchase as it also asks me for a program code
