  • Thought students and teachers can get Adobe Creative Cloud free? Not anymore?

    • Seems not. Wish I knew about this, the missus has been jumping through hoops for Photoshop for ages, meanwhile my little .edu workers email has been wasting away.

Only if their school funds/buys it. My wife used to have it but due to budget cuts its restricted to strictly art teachers.

    • +1

I can only see Office on the list, not Adobe. Maybe it depends on the institution?

    • Might depend on the state, it's free for all government schools in Victoria.

  • Isn't this a better price: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879549

    • It does look like a better deal. I am still trying to figure out the early termination fee on this one. If I can get away with a couple of months, it could be decent.

  • Student perks on Unidays will give you exactly the same offer not really a Black Friday sale.

  • If you're only wanting Photoshop, the photography plan is $14.29 a month:

The photography plan can be bought from Amazon at around $116, combined with the gift card and cashback ( normally nil for this category, but during promotion yes) is pretty good.

  • not alot of student can afford $87.99 a month. No wonder they have to sell their soul to sail the seven seas.

  • why are people still paying these greedy (profanity)? there are objectively better softwares that not only is a one time purchase and costs less, they don't brasanly announce they will own and use everything you create

    • Mostly due to using Photoshop and other Adobe apps for years so really used to them. As a result, able to work much faster with Adobe products.

I bought Affinity v2 suite recently (~$50 for the lot is a great deal, and can't stand the crazy cost of Adobe Creative Cloud subscription). However, I am still much faster using Photoshop and Illustrator. I've been trialing Affinity products for 4 months now and finally decided to purchase them.

If work pays for it, then I would still prefer Adobe apps (because I am still much faster at using them to do work).

    • Adobe apps are genuinely amazing. I used them for over 20 years & though there were bugs here and there, they were still the best in class for functionality & ease of use point of view.

It's a shame that the subscription model has taken over the world but ultimately, businesses will do what they can to make more money.

For budget purposes, I use Affinity & DaVinci Resolve. However, I do believe it's only a matter of time before they also jump onto the subscription bandwagon.

Just to be clear, if I was rolling in cash, I'd use Adobe but unfortunately, they're no longer in my budget.

On a spectrum; everyone is greedy, everyone is selfish & everyone wants the best deal or the most money they can get.
