Picked this model up at the Good Guys in Oxley, Brisbane and they had 4 left in stock on Wednesday.
It's still best to call in and ask for stock levels if your interested or even check online after choosing
your store, so don't order from the link provided above.
Try and haggle down another $20-$30 if you want :)

The closest equivalent model can found on staticice with the 640GB HDD but 2Yrs Warranty for $1023.52 before $99 cashback plus delivery costs $??. If you want the 2 yr warranty it'll be $898 after cash back.

8 hours battery life on a 15 inch?? i really doubt that. dedicated graphics too!

    • "up to 8 hours"..
Not that remarkable… Apple have been claiming around that for years.
Almost guarantee that the 8 hours is with everything (including the dedicated graphics) throttled right back or off (with graphics integrated into Sandy Bridge you can bet that the dedicated graphics is off to achieve anything close to 8 hours).

switchable to low power Intel HD graphics unit…..Up to 8 Hrs anyway.

I have a 14" 4810TG and it gets 6 hrs+ of heavy web browsing 10-20 tabs open and office apps etc.

      These are good machines.

  • Nice machines from what I hear. FYI though, it's successor the 5830TG is due out soon - whenever Acer gets their act together.

    Here is the new series:
    http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/series/aspiretimelin…
(Missing specs: 555M or 540M graphics (I think it varies))

13" and 14" versions exist, but I'm not sure if they're coming to Australia (Hence not being on the aussie website). afaik only the 14" (and 15"?) of the last generation came to Aus.

This is the forum thread I've been following with news on this new series (I'm Alzori there too ^.^):
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/553306-acer-timelinex-3…

    So yeah. Good notebook line.

    • So far it seems like the only model 5830TG you can buy are the ones with the GT 520M GPU.
You can see at this site it only tops out the entry level graphics range (class 3):
      http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-520M.43104.0.…
Although it does come with Nvidia Optimus which I'd prefer.

If you don't game then you get a couple of nice new features like sandy bridge, usb3,
inbuilt battery <—- this is a + Or - depending on if you like to carry an extra battery or would like to replace it later.

However I can definitely see people waiting out for the 540M or 555M versions here in Aus.
