    Also this: http://www.kingofknives.com/Cutlery/Brands/MUNDIAL/Mundial-T…

I've got a pair of these kitchen shears in my knife kit. Work well and easy to clean properly!

    • me too :D

      • …and now I've got more for the kitchen tool drawer at home.

  • I think that picture is a 10" while 20cm should be 8".

Excellent knives. I don't think I could ever justify ~$100 for a single knife but they're definitely worth $29. Anything Mundial is really. My Mundial cleaver is built like a f#@%ing battle axe.

  • I've had that same knife (wooden handle) for about 20 years, still going strong!

It is worn down a fair bit from HEAPS for sharpening, really needs a professional regrind. But for $29, probably better just to buy a new one!

  • Speaking of sharpeners, can anyone recommend a well priced sharpener for someone who knows nothing about sharpening knives?

    • +1

Don't bother with anything that involves passing the knife through some kind of slot. There are a few "sharpening systems" that involve a setup which holds the stone at a constant angle to the blade as you pass it over the thing. Though the ideal is probably to buy three whetstones of varying grades and learn to hold the correct angle with your hands.

Take them to a sharpening shop.. then keep the blade honed with a steele.
You'll never sharpen a blade at home anywhere near as good as a pro with the proper tools and experience.

    • The Furi Ozitech Fold Away Sharpener is also available for $16 at King of Knives at the moment.
(It is RRP $50 and $30 at Peters of Kensington http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Product/ProductInfo.asp… ) - complete with promo video.
I've been waiting for this to go on sale for a while so I got one but YMMV

    • The Cusineart professional is a great electric knife sharpener. I have one and use it on my german knives fortnightly. It even sharpens serrated edges. There are 3 sets of stones, course, fine and polish. I normally use fine or polish.

Well worth the investment but not cheap. RRP #199 but you can find it places cheaper.

Shame they don't have the wenger Giant Knife 2007 on sale. :-(

    • Holy! Do people actually buy/use that for camping?! Might need an extra mule to carry that around… :O

  • Thanks for pointing this one out.

I got a knife and a pair of shears.

I already have the same shears, but the old ones can go in the fishing basket….

    Shipping to 2077 was $9.95

  • Can you get these prices in-store?
EDIT: whoops, just re-read the bit that says "only available online"

    • I'm pretty sure i saw these prices in store last week…. the scissors were there for sure….

To give you an idea how good a special the Mundial knife is, it is $60 at Peters who are very cheap….

    http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Product/ProductInfo.asp…

  • Mum has Mundial knives and I found them to be heavy and clumsy to use.
You really want to know that these are the knives for you by holding them in your hand and feeling the weight and balance.
You almost can't go wrong for the price of course, $30 for a quality knife is a bargain…

    • Tend to agree. My primary kitchen knife is a 20cm Sabatier and I have a similar sized (perhaps 17cm) Furi East West knife that I use for less-than-precise vegetable preparation.

I do find the larger Mundial knives a bit clunky - but, yes, for $29 I'll bite.

  • Just bought one. Thanks for the reviews. I had begun to loath cutting and getting food ready to cook because of the knives I have. In the future I want to get this one http://www.kitchen-chef-knife.com/

  • Nice knives. I brought a block set of them 1 year ago, and they are still awesome.

They have this in at the shop in Chatswood Westfield , so it's not just online, but they may have limited stock.

    • Can confirm the Woden shop in Canberra has this knife and the kitchen shears mentioned at sale price, of which I purchased both.

Nice bargain OP and others who mentioned more goodies to buy :)

  • Gonna go check my local King of Knives as this would make a nice Mother's Day present ;)

    • None at Southland store :(
They did have a basic Mundial knife that retails for $49.95 for only $9.

I ended up ordering the $29 one along with the $9 shears. Pity shipping was $9.95 and I won't get it till well after Mother's Day.

      • In some cultures, giving someone a knife as a present is considered inappropriate, it implies that you want to "cut off" your relationship with that person. Hope it doesn't apply in your case.

  • None of the stores are close to my area. so ordered one($4.95 delivery as per OP)

  • is this really a bargain? here is the whole set of Mundial knives for $138.

its the same knife included in there right?
