If I thought they would honour anything or have stock, despite saying they had, of anything of reasonable value I would be all over this :P

    [Edit - speeling]

    • +5

Surprised there was no comments regarding the edit :)

    Does Jack work here?

    • +4

      Will be tomorrow!!

      • +1

Tomorrow morning:"JACK, wake UP to work!"

    • Sorry, cant say. You would have to use the FIRST and last name to get the right answer.

    • +3

More like Houdini, coz all the good stuff will magically disappear before the sale starts.

    • Good Guys shouldn’t jack. Big companies are larger targets for enforcement of Australian Consumer Law by authorities.

But expect lots of items to be out of stock or have supply issues.

      • -4

        Whaaat ?

Have you ever shopped at JbHiFi or Big-W ? Price jacking is their bread and butter.

As with all sales it depends on price.

Samsung soundbar (H-WK950) is about $1100 at the moment in Harvey Norman. Good guys want $1999.

20% off isn't gonna help that price much.

          • -3

@monk00: Not at lunchtime today they weren't.
            Maybe they are price un-jacking?

        • +1

Price jacking is illegal, and if they get caught there’s a huge fine (as Kogan found).

Usually brick and mortar stores don’t do it for that reason.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: If you truly believe that, your living in a fantasy world.
The next time JBhifi are having a sale write down the prices of as many items as you can. Then when the clock hits midnight go back on their website and be amazed.

Do the same with all the big name stores when eBay has 20% off.

Big W would do it when they offered free shipping. Miraculously all the prices would go up by $1 or $2.
And the reason they do it is because they never get caught. Look at the terms of service for JB, it basically translates as "we can do what ever the hell we want"

            • +1

@Noobist45: Capture it all in screenshots and send it to the ACCC next time. They'll be interested. But they can't act without a report from an affected customer.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: I guess no one has ever reported it even though price jacking is as common as sales, in fact they go hand in hand. Or maybe it just hilarious that you think the ACCC will actually do something. I would like to come and live in your world.

I've spoken to fair trading twice now and they told me exactly what I told you - because of 'terms and conditions' they can do whatever the f##k they want.

        • GG just price vanishes anything that would be too much of a bargain, can't prove what you can't see (just like god and the tooth fairy).

    • +10

Not necessarily. Depends how I feel tomorrow

    • the item i have been watching just went up by $100

    • Jack must have got fired.. Good on TGG.

$956 great price on this soundbar.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-HW-N950-XY-7-1-4Ch-D…

      • How good. Scored one!!!

        Pity couldn't click and collect..

  • +7

Chromecast Ultra will be $79.20 if they don't price jack or remove it

  • +17

Based on what happened with that Xbox One X fiasco about a month ago, no thanks.

    • +1

What happened? Did they not honour that really low price? Was it like $320 or something?

    • +1

      What happened?

    • +4

Agree. I’m still salty about that. They knew they were never going to fulfil the orders but still allowed people to order by restocking online. Then they handled it very poorly. I’ve avoided them since.

      • +1

I was one of the lucky few who managed to grab one at $379 but agree, the way they handled the who situation was pretty ordinary.

        • +2

So nothing out of ordinary then.

    • Yeah I’ve sworn off them after that nonsense and encourage others to not support these losers.

    • I had a quick look and it doesn’t look like they’re listing Xbox One X’s on the eBay page, at this stage anyway.

So, I’m not sure? Maybe they’ll put some in tomorrow.

At any rate, it doesn’t sound like they are doing well.

  • +3

FINALLY! Was worried the 20% off was never coming back.

  • +1

    Any bargains?

  • +2

Google hub will be $142.40 if they don't price jack or remove it

    • +3

      Ok Google….Come to papa

    • +1

      Google Home Max 359.20 :-/

    • Is this better then the link view? I am currently undecided between them.

      • link view sound quality blows all over this

this has similar tinny sound as home mini

  • No galaxy s10 on their eBay site

    • +3

      No iPhones or iPads either.

So in other words, an ebay sale.

      • I don’t even know why I wasted time checking

        • +1

It would be a pretty strange sales strategy to discount the s10 20% on it's launch day.

    • Very few things on their eBay site

  • Just bought a gopro black hero7 last week with 10% off. Think I can return and use this deal? Anyone have experience doing something like that through GG ebay buys?

    • Wait, last time I tried to get a 7 black it got jacked to 590 - 20% so cheapest I could get it for from another store was 470

      • Thanks for the heads up, will have to wait and see. Bought it for 471 last week so can't really complain.

    • I'm in the same boat, ordered a camera with the 10% via the store directly and just received and opened it up yesterday. Not sure if I can return my opened on, or if I can buy it cheaper via ebay and return that as the store purchased one? (or if the hassle is worth the extra $50 saved.. sigh).

      • I was thinking to return the new one too but reading their T&CS it looks like they only return for damaged goods and not change of mind, I could be wrong though

        • +1

Spoke to someone at a local store - they suggested that yes, I could buy a new one and return that on the old invoice given the first I bought has been opened and used (needs to be in an unused, saleable condition for a return).

For me, the challenge is getting to a B&M store - I opted for delivery for a reason, so might all be a bit too hard basket in my case.

          • @Finner: Oh interesting, thanks for the info. Cant seem to find the hero7 black on the page anymore anyway

  • Premature upvote on my part :(

Some items have increased and a lot taking out of the store. Hopefully it changes tomorrow

    • +4

      Revoke it.

  • +6

Yamaha YAS-108B $349 makes you laugh lmao rofl

    • +2

haha… It was $225 for a long time. Now its suddenly $349 just before the sale.

    • Picked it up for $199.00 a couple of months ago from Todds Hifi sale advertised on here on ozbargain obviously. Very happy with it - amazing sound. I hope to add an external subwoofer sometime down the track.

      • El cheapo compact option here. if you are on a tight budget (still has all the advanced controls to properly cross-over with your soundbar).
Or another cheap option here. if you have the space for it (40x40x40cm).
Unfortunately there needs to be a valid eBay code to get the prices in the deals, and eBay seems to have gone a bit quiet with the codes.

  • +4

Ebay should should steal the slogan 'Jack lives here'

  • Waiting for a TV deal

    • Me too

      • What tv you have in mind?

        • Hisense 55p7 or Sony 55 inch x7500. Lets see

  • +2

Gopro Hero 7 Black is currently $524. 20% off would = $419.20. Let's see if that price holds tomorrow…

    • +1

The price will hold. The advertised price is $524 until 13 March. They will not change the price upwards, but it can be lower if they price match another store.

  • +2

This LG Fridge is RRP $3799 (on LG website), but regularly $3299.
Currently marked down to $2,995 on TGG eBay:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-GF-V570MBL-570L-InstaView…

With additional 20% off, comes down to $2,396 = great buy!

    • 2.5 star energy rating. No thx

      • +3

Correct, 2.5 is low - I looked at my energy bill, and the difference between a 4 star & 2.5 star is $29/year. Most fridges with ice makers have lower star ratings.

    • Assuming Jack calls in sick tomorrow.

      • +9

        cough cough Ugh sore throat

    • +1

I'm also looking to buy a LG slim french door fridge. I'm don't need the ice maker and glass door. So this one will do:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-GF-B590PL-594L-French-Doo…

    • +1

Ok - so they have removed all stock for "local pickup", this unit is OUT OF STOCK all over Australia for pickup - BUT you can pay $159.89 for postage.

      • I just pulled the trigger and bought one. Postage is $54.94 to Sydney, which is quite cheap, considering the poor delivery guy got to carry a french door fridge to the third floor.

  • +1

Reckon the 30 day guarantee they do will work for their own store? https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/30-day-price-guarantee

    • +1

No unfortunately, people have tried and TGG cannot match or beat its TGG eBay store
The policy only applies to competitors which have a physical store
Apparently TGG dont act their eBay store as competitor

The only thing that work is to buy an identical product in TGG eBay
then use the old receipt to return the "new" product

      • +1

Also just noticed in the T&C's "It does not apply to items sold on marketplace websites such as eBay, The Good Guys own pricing…"

  • Got my eye on a couple of things will be interesting if the current price stays the same ….. don’t think so 😬

  • Finally, lets see some jacking boys!

Lets see how hard we can jack!! Cmonnnn!!

    • +10

      Let's keep this site PG.

    • Have you heard of a game called Soggy Biscuit? Sounds like you might like it.

      • +5

I've only recently heard it called that. Every time I've played before it was called Soggy Sao…

        • Point to be noted Your Honour.

    • i already jacked

  • Do Good Guys invoices show the price pre-discount? Just wondering for TRS purposes if you make a purchase that is just under $300 (after discount) you can still claim the GST based on pre-discount price? Pretty sure that is the case but if someone can confirm that would be good

    • +1

Yes, it shows the price before discount.

    • I've purchased from eBay (from TGG and shavershop) with an eBay code. The invoices from both stores had the price pre-discount.

    • Do Good Guys invoices show the price pre-discount?
      yes. full price

BUT, the docket include a information "Tender:docket total"
It was the amount after discount.

I posted TRS form at the airport because no one attended and they calculate using this tender amount!
