Found this starter pack with 1st recharge for $10. You get 27 Gb data as well.

Standard data is 10GB. The bonus 17GB is dependent upon recharges.

However, this raises an interesting point. I bought a $30 SIM for $8 from Telstra online a few weeks back, which I have not yet activated. The standard data then was 8GB.

When I do activate in early May, will I get 8GB or 10GB?

    I can confirm this. 15 min ago I activated a $30 sim which was purchased a couple months ago. As part of the activation process you have to choose what to do with the $30 credit and it outlines the $30 plan as 10gb + 17gb
