Why is it so expensive? I didn't pay that much for my UM34C with USB,micro USB, USB-C, 1" coloured graphing display with internal data logging, and bluetooth data logging and control. Does it do anything apart from just display the present Voltage and current?

Isn't it just a rebranded generic cheapo unit? Why is it such a high price? It says it lets you monitor voltage and current over time, so does it really have logging and how is the data retrieved?

    • Agree. The most I would pay for something like this is $3-4. Which is how much I paid for a type-A version.

But you know, Mac/Apple people are used to being taken advantage of.

  • What's the point of this if you have a quality charger?

Is it mainly the same functionality as it used to be in magsafe connector LED - no light = not plugged, green = plugged, amber = plugged and charging?

Mostly for monitoring your charging, I think it can help you see how much you're charging (if you're interested in seeing how much power you're using). Its also useful for debugging purposes so you can see if your battery is charging like normal (especially at start of charge, or at end of charge), if its having issues in charging and things like that (I know some people use it for testing Nintendo Switchs)

For the typical person though, unless you enjoy knowing these values I don't think it helps you really.
