iPod Touch 4G 64GB $399 Instore/Online Kmart

240

$399 for a 64GB 4th generation model iPod touch is probably the cheapest I've ever seen.

Price match with officeworks and get a further 5% off, price match (or should I say price beat) with Dick Smith and get 10% off:

PM Officeworks: $379.05
PM Dick Smith: $359.10

The price beat at Dick Smith is 10% off the difference.
Dick Smith's price is $438 making the price beat's price to be $395.10. Better off at OW.

I'd be all over that like a rash if I didn't have a 32gb version already.
I wouldn't be scrambling for small price cuts either lest I miss out altogether.

I could cry when I remember what I paid for my 16gb 1st gen! :o

      don't remind me :(
oh well this little baby still gets through at the end of the day even though Apple dropped support for it (around a 2 year life span).

But if anything, they'll do another redesign sooner or later, i mean they already added a camera and bluetooth whats next?

      • Yeah, definitely; they're bloody well made though, I'll give them that! Mine won't die, it gets used every day too!

I was filthy with Apple back then though, just days after I got it they released iOS/FW v2 with some new apps etc…they gave it away free to US buyers, but wanted $26 out of us Aussies for the same thing…cheeky bastards! I actually phoned Apple Aus to ask why, they had no real answer, so I literally told them blatantly that I was gonna jailbreak it & download the new software/FW & then teach everyone I knew how to do the same! :p

I couldn't justify upgrading the old beastie whilst it's still powering on! ;)

  • Dick Smiths website only says they price match:

    http://dicksmith.com.au/help/price-matching-content

Where did you hear they refund 10% of the difference? Would be useful if I had that info in the future.

    • I'd also like to know this, not finding any evidence of this 10% price match.

      • It seems to be very inconsistently applied in various stores too! I've known of a few fairly reliable people who've claimed to have used it, but not found a compliant store myself! ;)

    PM Officeworks: $379.05
    PM Dick Smith: $359.10

it'll be really cool if you could pricematch a pricematch, as in

    PM Dick Smith: $359.10
    PM Officeworks: $341.15
    PM Dick Smith: $307.03

    etc Pm each other

lol, if only that worked, you could in theory continuously price match, until you approached infinitely close to FREE

  • Should i wait for the new 1 in 2 months? or buy it now? gah soooo confused

    • i would wait. the prices of these will drop futher when the new models come out.

      • iPhone 5 is (most likely) be pushed back to September, the normal release month for iPods, therefore any new iPod touch 5s will be pushed back even further. A wait of 4+ month….

Besides, the current generation is pretty well rounded already, any improvement will be in the CPU and graphics, and do you really need that dual core to surf the web and listen to music?
