I remember when 1GB use to be enough for the kids… Now it's for your parents/grandparents.
Use it for HeyYou.
Create new HeyYou account for free coffee, lunch, etc.
If enough people do this then HeyYou will die…
Hey, I'm not "grandparent" but 1Gb is pretty much enough for me. Use it for google maps, sometimes googling something.
Yes, I do not listen to music or watch video, but fore rest it's ok.Grandparents? You got to be kidding…
Late 60 old man plays apex legends like a godlike player, don’t stereotype elderly!

Great SIM to throw in a phone for the folks
I doubt 1GB will be enough for them to play Fortnite…
Mobile data is just for when you’re out of the house.
For my (gaming) parents, that’s just about never. A few megabytes would do.
Will I have to sign up for a new number? Can I use an existing Amaysim number that I got during the $40/$35 cashback deal?
This is in their terms:
Not to be used in conjunction with an existing amaysim service.
New customer only?
Can i use the existing email account/or email address to purchase to receive $3 cash back?
Same rules as always for amaysim cashback. But the offer itself (1FOR1) requires you to be a new customer:
Not to be used in conjunction with an existing amaysim service.
Use a new email
Amaysim share prices recently dropped from 90cents to 65cents - after having to raise fresh new capital. Must be painful being Amaysim shareholders. Constantly paying for these marketing cost and probably getting very little margin after all the other operating costs. Hope OzBargain doesn't kill this business - the retail industry is already pretty dead. Manufacturing is halfway there. Not sure what's left? Investment advisory just got wiped out by Banking royal commission. Aged care royal commission might also do some damage there. Rod Sims will have nothing left to veto.
Having said all that - upvote for a profitable deal!

For the purposes of comparison, under the previous Accounting Standards, the equivalent range would have been $33.0 – $37.0 millionI hear you. And we dont even ask pollies about local industries and effect of offshoring jobs. What are local Australian gonna do?
I read somewhere that 70% of Australians work in service jobs, so we basically all just go round serving each other coffees.
@moar bargains: My local shopping malls definitely shows this. Clothing details closing down everywhere and replaced by eateries. The whole mall feels like a giant food court
When we need to activate the card by?
Stated in the Terms & Conditions:
The promotional code is valid for redemption until 11.59pm (Sydney
time) on 31 March 2019.Promotion code redemption deadline is not the SIM card activation deadline. Previous amaysim deals specified activate within 30 days, but since amaysim SIM comes pre-activated and defaults to automatic renewal, customers had been stung with an unexpected automatic renewal 28 days after the SIMs were issued.
Only for the first month.
Yeah, it’s not a deal. Just your standard introductory offer.
Every man and his dog offers “first month free” deals.
amaysim SIM comes pre-activated. Strategies previously suggested to stop this: 1. Pay with PayPal and delay verifying your account & ID, 2. Port-in a number, 3. Chat with customer service to ask for adjustment.
A variant on 2 is to say you're going to port in a number when ordering, then choose a new number on activation.
Or just call them once you insert into phone. In fact it tends to recognise that it has been added to phone and after a day or two one will receive a TXT saying they have reset start date.
Sidenote:If you want to port, you need to do at time of ordering.Start date resets had not worked for my last 4 amaysim deals. I don't care as I get paid to take the SIM cards and they overlap each other.
Do you remember how many days it was between placing the order (and thus activation) and actually start using the SIM? Based on this comment it needs to be within 10 days for auto-reset to work.
@Magic Mirror: Sorry I did not take note of the days elapsed as I didn't care, since my SIMs overlap in validity.
@alvian: OK, no worries. I just thought it would be another good test case for the 10-day reset rule.
when you mean by pre-activated? thought of get 4 of this for my cousins who gonna stay few weeks and over 2 months…
Pre-activation: amaysim starts counting the 28 days as soon as the SIM card leaves its fulfillment centre. Say it takes 3 days to get to you by post and another 2 days before you put it in your mobile. You'll only get 23 days.
It's simple. Don't verify your ID until you are ready to start using the SIM. If you do this then the SIM will only activate after this time. I have done this on multiple occasions (more than 8) and this has always been the case.
amaysim is satisfied with credit/debit card as ID. I cannot delay verification because I paid by CC.
Is the limit of about 6 prepaid SIMs per person actually checked and enforced? If so, this deal may be a waste of the limit.
Not in my experience, I would have over 20 but still never an issue.
Thanks, AFP notified.

If worried about number of SIMS. Call the supplier and ask them to delete the SIM from your account once you are done with it.
What does it mean by new customer? I ended amaysim 1 year ago, but I’m keen on getting this for a free burrito and Hey You meal
I’m probably not considered a new customer as I already had an account ages ago right?Just use a new email address like [email protected] or [email protected]
Can I use different email address but the same shipping address?

Generally you'll need to activate within 12 months of purchase.

Only one Cashback per Cashrewards account is permitted
I got cashback from previous deal am I still eligible for this deal or do I need another cashreward account to get cashback?
Of course you are. Totally different promos :)
Hey tightarse, can you answer my comment below about when this SIM card needs to be activated after purchase?
Thanks for posting TA! So weird how you forgot the Shopback cashback for the same promo ;)
Belong is better, $10 for 2GB. Hope to get a deal from Belong TA.
But this one is $9 cheaper.
But this one is $9 cheaper.
They pay you $3 to use it.
Tightarse, how long do we have to activate the SIM after purchase? If I was to purchase it on 31st March then what would be the last day that I can activate it?
It comea pre-activated… Read the above comments
Incorrect unless Amaysim have suddenly changed their policy in the past month. I have ordered multiple SIM cards from Amaysim and on only one occasion hsa it been pre-activated. For these SIM cards I verify my ID when I want to use the SIM card (not when I order it). Also when porting to Amaysim there is no way that the SIM card can be pre-activated because you port when you want to not at the time of ordering. For the one SIM that was pre-activated, after inserting it into my phone I received a text message from Amaysim to say that they would be restarting the time period. Plus reading through past deals people have asked via Amaysim Chat to reset the time period and there have been no problem doing this.
Tightarse can you help?
Just purchased one. Thank you, it’s a good deal :)
Anyone else got charged 2x $1 on their CC?
Activated mine today (porting from Voda) and after porting, received an SMS saying that my As You Go is below $2 and that I need to rechrge. Logged into my Amaysim account and see 2 plans active assigned to the same mobile number - As You Go and 1GB Unlimited.
Anyone experience the same thing?
Hi Everyone, from the other old deal when u purchase $10 plan and $40 cashreward, it is still pending in cashrewards as approval date 23 April.
Has it happen to anyone else?
I activated SIM and have used it for a month and auto renewal turned off..
Will this work on an expired number (haven't used my old Amaysim number for a year)? Or any offer available for a recharge voucher?
Looks like this one is now closed - Ended 31st of March judging by the current "April" deal
@tightarse any replacement for this deal?

Promotion terms and conditions are subject to change without notice and promotion may be withdrawn at amaysim’s discretion without notice.

Promotion Benefits may be withdrawn if payment fails at any stage.
How is that the killer?
Almost all other postpaid services not offering Endless Data or a similar feature have a $10/1GB option automatically enabled. Not a new concept here.
As a better example Kogan does recharge data packs instead of allowing you to keep incurring debt by continually downloading extra data.
So they stop you from incurring bill shock but this provider / plan seems to let you keep using data and does not stop you which is deadly to your wallet say if this is for a kid or somebody unaware of data caps (you would be surprised not everybody is as ozbargain as us here).
Could mean the difference between a $10 bill and $100 bill sometimes if left unaware especially with kids or the elderly I have seen it before.
