HP AMP 120 Bluetooth Speaker Printer $48 @ Harvey Norman

90

For the person who has everything, I present a printer with built in speakers. Could also be speakers with a built in printer. Original rep was $179 so $48 seems ok. Gets ok reviews online for speaker quality, size and HP AMP app. Enjoy :)

Update: You can also make calls from your printer!

    • Inkjet printer makers are still mad at Nespresso for stealing their business model, though Gillette really invented it.

Lol I was expecting a long detailed critique but love that it's just:

          This is fscking stupid.

Love the idea but prefer having a scanner and copier

    • It’d be better if it also had fax.

Just got a Dolby Atmos receiver, so could use some extra speakers. Perhaps I could mount two of these on the ceiling. Oh, and no-one seems to have mentioned that the "built in USB charging point allows you to charge your other devices while still using the printer".

I will say that I have seen many people in the past shouting at printers - now they can can do that with the comforting thought that the printer can both hear them, and talk back. OOh. Imagine using this for a teleconference, and someone sends a print job to it…..

A vote from me, simply for insanity….

    • Perhaps I could mount two of these on the ceiling.

You could have instant made-to-order confetti….?

Because this is a Bluetooth speaker and you can use BT speakers with Google Home, imagine the integration.

"Ok Google, play Rihanna on Spotify on printer"

Imagine your dinner guests in awe as Rihanna blasts out the printer, while printing your tax return for the last financial year.

    • +2

On the flip side, it might start reading out your tax returns for the last financial year to your dinner guests while printing out the lyrics to every single Rhianna song….

  • Ok so this seems ridiculous, however, will the BT speaker work with the VodafoneTV box I got the other week to give me better sound than the 1W speakers in the Acer eyecare monitor I got last week?

    …OzBargain much….

    • in theory yes. but HP pushing its own app to play music might be a burden. but technically every Bluetooth device should go into pairing mode, and I expect the same with this printer.

      • Ok, thought it should but never owned or used a BT speaker never needed one. Might try it haven't seen anything else that cheap that looked decent

  • +1

    Thank f$ck no stock nearby

  • I’ve just installed and I am very happy with the printer. Very small. Haven’t played the speakers yet but will update. Will also update once I have made my first call

    • +1

Your first call will probably be to hp support. How ironic.

      • +3

I actually think it's not a bad kids printer. My daughter loves it - is playing music on it while on her computer.

    • Maybe the speakers are actually playing, but you cant hear them:)

  • +3

Yes I gave in to the insanity also.

Speakers are pretty quiet, but full volume is still more than enough for normal listening in a normal sized room. Obviously lacks bass compared to "proper" speakers, but bass is in the standard "crappy" speakers range some people are used to. Drops off ~200Hz and don't expect anything below 100Hz, plus there can be a slight rattle at certain bass frequencies at high volumes (which in hindsight I should have expected, but it's really not too bad). Mids are actually quite forward and pleasant. Highs can be a bit rough and a little in your face, but still not completely horrible. Overall it sounds much better than bottom of the range BT speakers I've bought for ~$20 (on sale), but there are plenty of much better speakers out there.

    Plus it prints stuff apparently.
