Cracker deal boys. I'd be buying this if umart wasn't holding my FTW3 hostage…

    • -1

Why would you get this over a FTW though?

      • +1

        I presume its cheaper?

      • Very close performance wise, acceptable cooler. Significantly cheaper.

        • FTW cards use binned GPUs.

          • @Diji1: I'd really like you to expand on this if you can, because it seems poorly understood by many. I am fully familiar with binning, but unsure what you mean in this context.

The card linked here is said to be an 'A-card' - or do you mean a custom PCB?

Still needs to be cheaper. Nvidia were absolutely greedy to think that they could charge $2000+ for this and it shows in their abysmal gaming revenue for the RTX lineup

      • +11

Are you talking out of your ass? Have you seen their stock price? Its almost half what it was 6 months ago.

Also their gaming revenue is down 45% thanks to RTX, is that what you mean by "do the right thing by their shareholders"?

Yes they have a no real competition, but I don't think you understand how supply and demand works. Just wait till this hits around $1000 which is what it should have been from the start

Have you seen their stock price? Its almost half what it was 6 months ago.

What does that have to do with anything being discussed?

          • +1

@Diji1: He brought up shareholders, I brought up share price . Logical step

      • Sales have plummeted because they're thinking just like you mate. It's more than the cost of a whole system. Market economics have limits and Nvidia haven't just gone too far, they've hurt their chances with a whole generation of gamers. Quote textbooks all you like lol

    • -4

      Its 1699 not $2000 lol

      • +5

Its $2000 when it came out and it still is in most pc parts shops…

      • +5

Have you clicked the link? It's $1999 before the discount code.

Gigabyte have so many models and this seems to be the budget option, is that correct? It seems to have smaller fans but a lower clock than the Gigabyte Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme that Hardware Unboxed found to run too hot. Is this really a card to buy, considering the budget config of the non budget purchase?

Edit: The model of this card is not even on the Gigabyte website. Maybe chips have poor binning so are stuck at stock speed. It appears to be the non overclocked version of their base card that has a pre discount price of $50 more.

The extra would have to be worth the spend if going for this cheaper card posted here, but I will be waiting for a higher end card, yet again.

      Model is here - https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N2080TWF3OC-11GC

      Core Clock
      1635 MHz in OC mode
      1620 MHz in Gaming mode
      (Reference Card: 1545 MHz)

You can get the newer BIOS here - http://forum.gigabyte.us/post/23648
      Ups it to 366W

I'll be taking the cooler off to slap an EK block on it anyway :)

      • The OP originally linked to the non OC version that has a pre discount price of $1949. The link has been updated to take you to the OC card now. Still, it is a bottom end card for silly pricing. I will wait for a higher end card at silly pricing. Sucks, the $500 price hike we copped after the TI shortages became apparent.

      • Can you share a video of replacing the cooler? I'm curious. Thanks

  • Gotta have that ray tracing🤣

    Rtx on
    FPS off

  • For 1700$ I can get 2 gaming PCs.

    • +6

Your idea of a 'gaming PC' is obviously different to everyone else's.

      • Indeed.

      • Depends what games you play. I’m old school

        • +1

So get a rpi and retroarch.

      • That aside. The price of these cards (without discount) is more then the cost of the PC I've been playing around with in PC part picker. It's rediculous.

  • +3

    More expensive than my PC.

  • Can't run 1440p @ 144 fps in AAA games. /s

    • So liquid cool it with a placebo instead of water

    • -2

Can't run 1440p @ 144 fps hz in AAA games.

      FTFY.

  • +2

My whole pc cost this much with a 7700, a gtx 1080 and 16gb ram
