    Weight capacity?

    • +2

Hmm interested in this as well.

Looking through the other Odin shelf variety, I found one with weight limit info (200kg distributed):
      https://www.stratco.com.au/au/storage/garage-shed/odin-black…

I wonder if this will be the same with this one?

      • That seems to be a rivet lock whereas this is a slot lock? Not sure if that makes a difference but I suspect that it does (also given price difference).

Just called them before, so here is what they have advised:

I have just ordered one :D

            @HmrW: Flat pack size around 1 m x 0.5 mm

You mean 1m x 50cm? Must mean the vertical beams are split

          • @HmrW: This would be the approx Bunnings equivalent.

$40 delivered is not bad at all.

            • @[Deactivated]:

              More like this or this

As for the equivalent of the OP, this $39 one.

@CVonC: No i'll stick with what i've said - your first two are much wider (1200mm instead of around 900mm), and the last one has only 4 shelves instead of 5 and nowhere near the weight loading.

@[Deactivated]: sorry mate thought you were replying to his first comment (with the bigger dimensions) not the second one :)

  • Silly question
If I go for click and collect
How easy to transport it in hatchback car ?
Will it be in boxed pack etc ?
    Any experience ?

    • +3

should be easy bro, go ahead.

    • +6

      They're in a flat pack.

      1. Get pool noodles and lay them on the roof
      2. tie shelving to the roof using rope through the side windows
      3. have mates hold it
      4. Drive slow down back roads
      5. Don't listen to anything I say and measure the size of the box vs your car interior
    • +1

I transported a full-sized digital piano in a Yaris once.

There was only a 3cm gap between my chest and the steering wheel, but it worked.

But my advice, just find out the package dimensions and measure your car.

yesterday i was driving behind a guy transporting a fridge in a Ford Falcon EL and because it wouldn't fit lying down, he had it upright in the boot.. i was following him out of curiousity and waiting for a disaster (actually went out of my way for about 10mins) but alas, no dice

        imagine if the airbag deployed

        • +3

Yeah, I won’t be doing it again.

It wasn’t smart, hence the advice to measure the car.

    • +1

the bunnings one was easy to carry in a small hatchback (its slighlty larger than the size of the tray)

i found this not much of a deal if getting delivery (which is cheaper to do item by item $10 each rather than $25 together - save $5)

Odin, hammer. These key words are speaking to me.

    • +2

Someone got confused with the naming. Odin's weapon was Gungnir … a spear.

    • +2

Odin's son, Thor the god of thunder, used a hammer, not Odin

How much is the normal price? Good quality?

    • +1

If the 4 vertical beams are split into 2 pieces each, don't buy it as it won't be nearly as stable if it was a single beam. Can't tell from the photo or description, I'd check out bunnings instead.

      • Can't tell from the picture, too pixellated. Anyone who has this/ bought this - can you weigh in?

        • Not sure about this brand but i have numerous shelves larger than this where the upright joins in the middle loaded with plants in terracotta pots with no stability issues at all. This one looks a bit cheaper quality though (i think it is always this price). I am sure there will be one set up in store to see if it is a bit weak at the joins you could put a shelf there to brace it and possibly add a couple of screws.

      • one of the bunnings ones has the vertical beams slit into 4

  • +3

These are wayyyyy better than the cheapo ones Bunnings sell that have to be bolted together. PITA to assemble.

    • Obviously

  • Any deals on hammers?..

    • +2

We have a bunch of great hammers starting from $7.99, see https://bit.ly/2GP5oTG

Ordered the shelf units & that hammer. Hammer time soon.

        • U Cant touch this

  • Something not right with their credit card payment page, perhaps the chrome prefill. Took me 3 attempts to get it to work.

    • I'm from Stratco, sorry to hear you had trouble submitting payment. Could you send some further details on the error via https://www.stratco.com.au/contact/general-enquiry/

We're not aware of any issues with the payment page, I'd like to look into this further.

      Rob

      • Hi Rob,

I'm assuming the vertical length is in two parts, so it can be packed into a smaller box. Is that right?

If so do you have anything where the vertical section is just a single piece? Bunnings used to sell one years ago, but they all have a join now as well. Not a big fan of the join.

      I'm getting $10.

  • Can I use it for shoe rack? seems sturdy enough for shoes

    • +1

      Yes Imelda.

  • Does powder coated steel = can be used outdoors under a patio?

    • In my experience, yes the powedercoating will protect the steel quite well for a number of years (assuming it doesn't get soaked regularly) However, the shelf itself is MDF which may not like heavy moisture. I would probably give the shelves a quick clear coat for longevity.

My patio gets a bit damp due to condensation forming and dripping off the purlins so I have lines where I don't leave sensitive items.

  • Can these be secured to the wall fairly easily?

  • +1

Interesting delivery cost: $10 for 1pc but $25 for 2pcs. Better split an order for 2pcs to two orders.

  • says "Not available in your state." but then says "Available for delivery in ACT" & "Click & Collect Is available in your store" and no option to order or costing?

    • hey @robfunk any ideas?

      • I just tried this myself and can see the issue, looks like it's available at Fyshwick, I'm looking into why it's showing 'not available in your state' when it appears to be available in Fyshwick. Quickest way to get it sorted out would be to call the store on 1300 185 185. See store details at https://www.stratco.com.au/stores/fyshwick, they're closed Sundays, best to call on Monday, or send me a message with your contact details and I'll let you know if / when you can buy online.

        Rob

      • Thanks for letting us know, this problem has now been resolved, you should be able to buy online now, let me know if you have any further problems.

  • Can anyone comment on build quality yet? Are the horizontal metal shelves as sharp as a razor or smooth?

  • The Bunnings Equivalent is better but a little more expensive at $44.50 for the 5-shelf unit holiding 150KG per shelf. The Bunnings shelving is thicker and stronger than the cheaper stratco unit. The stratco seemed flimsy and the box indicates 175KG distributed weight which was misleading - my take is its 175KG distributed over 5 shelves - avoid stratco unless you only need to store small/light things.
The bunnings one I have is quite good - just the middle join between bottom and top section joins could do with bolting or reinforcing somehow - Maybe a few cable ties for now.
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-…

    • Thanks. That's useful - i'd suggested something more expensive was the equivalent but i'm not so sure now.

The pricing for both the Montgomery and the Pinnacle seem fairly stable.

  • So i bought 2 of these and finally got around to putting them together. They are awesome, however they smell and its been a few days and the smell has not subsided (an over powering woody smell, and no not like mahogany)

Anyone else had the same issue, any solutions?
