  • How safe is this from someone hacking the system to unlock it? Excuse my ignorance as I would like to get one of these but have a bit of security paranoia.

    • Hi Eyetie,

Thanks for the question, these locks are not connected to a server so can not be hacked. The connection happens between your phone and the lock only when you touch the lock and enable the Bluetooth communication. Also no firmware updates as the lock is stand alone.

      Hope the above help.

      • Thanks so much for this!

    • One of the reasons I want a key over ride.

  • Thanks for the reply to my previous question. I've ordered one.

Just want to know what type of RFID tag is supported should I need to purchase more.

    Thanks!

    • Hi try2bhelpful

We use an industry standard 13.56 mhz RFID cards, companies such transportation or Banks use different frequencies.

You can order more cards from our website.

      Hope the above help.

  • Cool got it all up and running, everything works except for the eftpos/ATM cards.

Tried both my Mastercard and Visa too but no luck.

None of the instruction manual mentions it too but the video demo showed that it can.

    • I would be interested to see the outcome for this. Can you please keep us across if you get a resolution? I'm, also, interested in this one but I would like to be able to use my MYKI card.

      • Myki also doesn't work.

I'm not fussed though cause I bought it for the numpad.

Inside the box comes with 2 rfi tags and 2 keys.

Remember with this lock you can use your phone to open it, simply touch the lock and press open on the app. Alternately you have password option or cards.

        Hope the above help.

Why does the video on your website show a bank card opening it?

          • +1

@puffinfresh: Bank cards do use 13.56Mhz in Australia. I will test as soon as I get mine and report back

            • @munecito: Thanks

              • @try2bhelpful: Hello.

I can confirm it does not work with Bank cards or Opal card. Which is strange as they all are 13.56 mhz but maybe there are some encryption keys in those cards that make it impossible to register them.

Don't try to register your mobile NFC because it does succeed but then any mobile with NFC will open it. I had to reset it after trying that.

I am going to order a 13.56 mhz RFID ring to test.

Installation from scratch, including drilling new holes took me about two hours. The hardest bit was the chiselling. I didn't want to split the door or frame.

@puffinfresh: Yeah, that's a bit shady if it can't do what it does in the video…

      • Hi try2bhelpful

Transportation companies run on different frequencies even myki vs Opal in Sydney might have different frequencies not to mention other countries.

You see most of digital door locks operates on 13.56 mhz rfid which is what we supply inside the package.

        Hope the above helps.

You can order more cards from our website. Will add a note saying bank cards can not be used.

      Hope the above help.

  • Got three.

The whole family will have one.

    Thanks OP.

  • Looks like a good product and a good deal, so have ordered one.
    Cheers all and tks OP

  • These look great.

Does the lock work both ways (from inside to outside as well outside to inside)?

I want to have to use Cards, Keypad, bluetooth, etc to go out of the house, not just when entering.

Think I'm sold, just need to confirm this detail.

    Cheers,
    Abel

    • You just twist a knob from inside. Not sure if that was a serious question

    • +2

      Hi Abel,

The door lock works from outside, from the inside you need to be able to leave the house if there is a fire, if you require two ways verification then you need to check fire regulations and have an access control system as suppose to stand alone digital door lock.

      Hope the above helps.

  • Got the lock - it arrived super quick.
Overall pretty happy with it (I stopped bringing house keys to work!) - note that the hole required is a bit bigger than most standard door locks; I had to expand the hole with a router.
I'm tempted to buy another and put on other doors on my house.

Downside is that opening using a code or my phone does actually take longer than using a key :/

    • Still waiting for mine, can't see my order on the website, didn't get an email confirmation either. Did you get any?

I'm planning to use it with RFID/NFC tags. You get little stickers about 2cm in diameter. I plan to put it under my watch.

        Mine arrived.

I didn't get any confusion but they arrived via courier.

      • I meant confirmation.

I installed one already. I like it a lot.

  • Got mine too, I think the 'normal' price of $300 is pretty aspirational.

    First impressions:
The build quality is pretty good, but the app is very basic(hopefully they release updates). As mentioned above, it doesn't do credit cards etc. despite it showing that in the promotional video. I hadn't realised about the NFC issue @munecito, good pickup, but another red flag for this product in my opinion.

The slowness of the device is also an issue for me, it's very sluggish to detect touch, activate and then unlock. It's pretty frustrating if you've used other smart locks at similar price points which are zippy.

There is also some slop in the opening mechanism, so my deadbolt doesn't retract all the way all the time (approx 3 mm of play) so the door would occasionally not open until I wiggled it. I had to adjust the inset into my door so that the deadbolt didn't catch on the striker, luckily I have an old door with plenty of gap between the door and the frame so I didn't have to mess around too much.

The documentation it came with doesn't explain the locks features in much detail (no user manual), but it does a pretty good job illustrating the steps to take to get the lock going. It's very visual/diagramatic which is nice.

I don't think it's a terrible buy necessarily, but at $175 I did expect something a bit more refined, and the credit card/NFC issues are a let down (I bought this thinking I could use my credit card).

    • Thanks for the update. We have a Samsung one that allows us to use our MYKI cards to open the door but the later Samsung ones don't seem to have that ability anymore either. My other half has the theory they don't want to pay the licence fee to have this feature anymore. We are looking for a replacement lock which includes a physical key option; sounds like we might wait a little longer for another option.

    • Mickslan you can use other RFID tags.

They need to be 13.56Mhz Mifare classic 1k or Mifare s50 1k.

      • Yeah, it comes with two tags that work as well to get you started. I just didn't want yet another fob/tag/card.

        • PM me mate.

    • Also the NFC issue is pretty understandable as it would register the reader of the phone which basically is not secure. All the phones and NFC readers in general would be seen as the same device. The cards rely on serial number and the ability to be written to as well.

    • Installed it over the weekend, it's been great. I registered my work ID card and it worked fine.

Anyone know what the Magnet thing is? The installation manual ask you to install a wire that connects to a magnet on the door and door frame :S

      • If it is standard it is designed to automatically lock the door when you shut it.

      • yeah as above. I left mine out as I don't want autolock feature

  • The smart rings are not strong enough to register and unlock the door.

They are good to leave notes on peoples phones with the NFC.
