What goes does ebay plus do?

    • +85

      Nothing, thats the problem

    • +29

It was worth it when I first joined. Stores were discounting their stuff by $20 and making Ebay cover it. Saved about $100 on $29.

These days, it does absolutely nothing. Ebay appears to maybe pay for postage but no one seems to know for sure. Those who are Ebay Plus offer free postage normally anyhow.

I don't get any vouchers, specia sales or anything of worth and wont be renewing.

      • "Those who are Ebay Plus offer free postage normally anyhow"

How do you tell? I feel like a sucker for thinking I was getting sweet free postage due to ebay plus lol

        • +2

Go to the listing on another browser so you're not logged in.

    • +15

You get diminishing rewards because they make deals exclusive to new members.

      • +14

Ahhh, so they went down the Aussie Broadband route

      • +39

You get diminishing rewards because they make deals exclusive to new members.

That's why you create 16 accounts, never 17 tho .

      SFA.

  • +1

I was looking for some porn bookmarks

    • bargain porn?

      • I see you have a WebCa 👌

    • All those are porn bookmarks. I use to bookmark porn under "uni timetavle"

      • right next to 'uni timetable'? one is your uni timetable, the other could be anything! even porn!

  • +8

Doesn't work for me. URL says " This page may have moved or is no longer available. ".
Either way, I'm waiting for the 1 year free trial, like Shipster. And even then I probably won't use it, like Shipster.

    • +1

I think I used shipster like 5 times, was a good surprise when it came up with free shipping!

    • My eBay Plus page says the same. I can't even pay and join.

  • LOL - needs to be 365 days to be worthwhile

    • +3

Not if it's a leap year.

  • +14

Its useless. Don't waste your time.

    • +1

I buy booze once a month, free shipping from Firstchoice or DanMurphys pays for the annual fee easily.
      So only almost completely useless.

      • ? Sounds like a deal.

        Confusing.

      • Looks like min spend $15 for free ebay-plus shipping.

  • +12

    $0 for zero service

  • +1

Sign up. Wait for an exclusive new eBay Plus customers only

  • +17

Doesn't give you anything. Not a bargain.

  • +18

    LOL dead already

Best thing I ever did was cancel it.

  • +46

This just reminded me to cancel my membership, thanx OP.

    • Lol

    • +2

Just cancelled mine as well due to this, I'e been meaning to do it for a while. Don't know what ebay are thinking of late. Amazon Prime is the far better deal. I've easily got my membership for that back in shipping a couple of times over and I get Prime Video as well.

  • +5

I don't see this as a bargain. Ebay Plus still hasn't justified its existence

  • +3

    EBay plus members right now

  • Thanks for the indirect eff you ebay!!!!

  • +3

This is what you'll see if you logout and use Incognito mode. Green banner on top says "Become a member for free for 180 days"
    https://i.imgur.com/z75jmnQ.png

It probably isn't targeted, more likely it's going to be for users who've has never had a eBay Plus subscription before.

  • +10

No 180 day free trial here, I am however being offered a 30 day free trial.. even though I'm already a member.. go figure.

Also love their current promotion "10% off* for Plus Members when you Pick-Up in Store. Use Code PLUSPICKUP." - even though one of the "perks" of ebay Plus is "Free Delivery".

Who the hell actually comes up with this shit?

    • +3

yeah but if u choose free delivery you dont get 10% off

theyre giving you an option to save another 10% for passing the savings on postage to u…how is that a bad thing

  • Still overpriced

  • +3

Not a deal, eBay plus is a failure.
25% on selected sellers (exclusive to plus members) was the only good deal. That’s it.

    • +6

I've avoided using eBay because of the confusion and negative impression eBay Plus has created.

  • +10

I very rarely neg any deals … but eBay Plus is pure sludge

  • +14

Time to finally put ebay to rest, complete disregard for ACL with its carefree ways of its users pricejacking its a no from me.

I for one welcome our new overlords from Amazon.

    • +4

Yes when was the last time ebay delivered a paxket of Tim Tams to work for $1.82? Never, that's when!

  • +3

Signed up for free trial and I haven't seen any value yet.

    • +1

free shipping from Firstchoice and Dans?

  • +14

Is it a deal, Yes because usually you would pay for eBay plus. But is the deal good, absolutely not, because eBay Plus doesn't do anything.

PS. I know my comment will attract a lot of neg but I had to defend OP. The problem is with eBay plus, not with deal.

    • +1

You were wrong, no negs yet :)

    • +1

The ebay bots are still hard at work upvoting these types of deals lol

      • -2

Or, your view is just unpopular.

This deal is free, so great. Paying for it is poo.

        • My view is unpopular…. the deal has 56 negs yeah must be awesome

          • -2

@solidussnake: Mob rule kicked in. All the Kool kidz Sticking it to the man, over a free deal.

            • @Ulysses31: If you want to support a company that turn s a blind eye to the ACL and that have these awesome 20% off " marked up deals" and forces people to sign up to get free del even when it is free most of the time you need to wake up simple man… 87 v 63 negs must be the worst deal of ozb history must be a great deal mate !!! 😂

  • +1

I went from using ebay 100% of the time to buy online stuff to maybe like 30%
It's like the past 10 years of being a loyal customer doesn't mean jack and I have to watch them fleece new members, where you give them 5 years and they'll become just as jaded as me

  • +2

Have not seen this many downvotes for a freebie.

It may do nothing, but at least it's not a virus.

      • +2

Give it time. We can beat that.

      • +1

        Bahaha good one TA!

      • -4

wow there's a lot of self entitled people in there taking advantage of it, and proudly so.
Sucks to be LGBTQ with these kinds of people still around.

      • Wait, that was meant to be a pun?

      • We've beaten that record now.

  • +2

The stench of desperation from eBay. 😂😂

  • Signed up from this deal but never had the chance to use it.

  • +6

One of the worst subscriptions ever. Do not get conned

  • +2

Thank god my husband didn’t let me pay for this crap when it first came out

    • +10

      username doesn't check out

    • -2

was he a bargain?.. coulda sent him back on the free postage!

  • +2

I hate to use my first OzB neg, but ebay staff need to know how much they're burning their community. I've spent $15k during a reno on ebay in the last year, and pretty sure I've had zero value from my Day 1 subscription to Plus. Losing a cash rewards rebate was the final straw too. Good concept, badly executed.

    • In case you don't know, you can still use Qantas instead of Cashback, for eBay.

    • +6

@bonky you did the right thing posting the deal. Sorry you're copping the backlash in down votes. We know it's not your issue. Keep up the deals matey!

  • +1

    Wohoooo 3 months brahhh

    • +8

      Maths fail

      • +1

It's three months for extremely large values of month

  • +2

On this page there is an option to send them feedback https://www.ebay.com.au/ebayplus/home

  • +5

this means there is not going to be any great worthy eBay plus discounts in the next 180 days :(

  • +5

Waste of time. I cancelled my subs during the free trial.

  • +2

I had to do a return (item defective) recently, seller was not exactly helpful, eBay Plus gave me peace of mind that I would get my refund no matter what.

    • +2

What did plus have to do with it?

      • free postage on return of product.
Usually the buyer has to pay for the return postage.

        • +1

          No they don't

          • @Quantumcat: Sorry, for change of mind the return postage is free for eBay Plus items.

            https://pages.ebay.com.au/returns/#faq3
            Who pays for return postage?
Many sellers offer free returns if you changed your mind about an item, but sometimes you'll have to pay return postage. Check the seller's return policy in the listing.

Sellers are responsible for return postage if the item doesn't match the listing description, or arrived damaged or faulty. For more information, see our eBay Money Back Guarantee policy.

            • +1

@exidez: True, but nfr said his item was defective

              • @Quantumcat: My item was defective, I think it's bad form to return for change of mind, but if seller wants to argue about it, it's good to know with ebay plus you can just return it defective or not.

        • +1

You get free return postage with paypal even if don't have ebay plus

  • +5

Agree with the neggers. This is absolutely not a deal. Especially when a bargain to be had might have its price jacked.

    • The deal is you get free shipping on a small number of items. And it doesn't cost you anything for that privilege whether you end up buying any or not.

  • One thing eBay Plus is useful for is free shipping from Firstchoice and Dans. As they have normal shop prices on Ebay, this one thing will pay part of the annual fee.

    Haven't found another use yet.

All eBay Plus orders are covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee*.

Also, I got an instant refund as an item was past delivery date (Handy). I did get the item the following day but it was broken so didn't tell seller.

  • +1

What happened to the plus deals like Amazon lightning deals.

    • Yeah, that's what I figured would have happened.
And I'm surprised simce free shipping doesn't seem to happ5 they don't offer to upgrad5 you to faster/express shipping, like Prime does.

  • I signed up for the last free trial and the is zero value.
    Avoid!

  • Any ideas what would result from getting a second eBay Plus trial (first almost expired), on a second existing ebay account?

  • +5

As a paid plus member who cancelled, I never got the value of the subscription.

  • +4

I also used to be a Ebay plus member but did not find any benefit.

  • Had it and didnt use it once. Its free but almost not even worth the effort

  • +2

Just cancelled mine at the end of a 3 month trial…wtf is even the point of it?

Amazon prime at least has video streaming.

    • +2

Amazon prime at least has video streaming.

      And Nivea deodorant deals :P

    • I thinking of cancel it only after half an hour of joining. I joined for free trial, thinking of making purchase to take advantage of 10% ebay plus discount code.

      Many items are not in discount or ebay plus/ ebay plus was not the cheapest even after 10% discount;

  • Hope eBay is getting the message. Nothing against the OP.

  • +7

"Maybe if we give them SIX MONTHS free, they'll forget to cancel the renewal this time"
