    Can you do 250$?

  • Pre-sale ?

  • Goodluck with:
    1. finding a case
    2. OTA updates
    3. Bugs
    4. everything else that comes with Chinese no frills brands

    • It comes with a case.

For updates, just flash a new ROM. That should take care of 2, 3, and 4.

Has Android 9 so they're already ahead of most Androids.

For this price, hard to complain. The body looks premium, as does the RAM and storage. No idea about the CPU. And B28. Huge battery also.

      • Can't really flash anything if the bootloader is locked.

It's a mediatek chip, so good luck getting the source code.

Due to above, there's hardly any development in xda or other russian webs nor security updates.
I may be wrong but had this problem with past mediatek chips.

Even there are existing bugs, umidigi just ignore them and moves on to the next "Flagship Killer".

    • Sadly, you are correct

Got badly burnt with a imported ZUK2 [Lenovo], never again orphan phones

  • +2

NFC, band 28, USB C, 3.5mm jack and a huge battery. Not much of a notch either… This phone has everything!

    • Almost as good as the pocofone F1. Not sure why you would buy this over it unless you needed NFC.

      • +2

$100+ dollars in your pocket? Pocofone F1 is min $400.

      • +1

Pocofone is more expensive, doesn’t have Band 28, Smaller Battery & NFC of course.

        • +1

Significantly better camera, updates, and sigh battery is smaller it is one of the longest lasting flagship killers. Also Snapdragon 845 is far better than this Helio, by leaps and bounds, it's one factor why this is so cheap. And I'm taking a stab, but the build quality can't be great on this at this price. I know the poco is more I guess it just depends what you use your phone for or how long your want to keep it.

          • +1

@onlinepred: Pocophone also lacks band 28 and NFC. I have the Pocophone as my backup with Pixel 2 as main. It depends on what you use it for, but for me Pocophone isn't a flagship killer unless gaming is what you want out of a flagship. It's because, as GSMarena pointed out before, it lacks half the band that US have. So it's instantly out of the picture for the US market. One thing I do appreciate from Umidigi is that they have all the global band, like my Pixel 2, and NFC on top. That would make it really useful for travel.

            • @Bigboomboom: Agreed. Just do some Reddit searches and you will see that loads of hardware issues arise over time as well as software bugs from patches. I'd get a redmi note 6 right? Better track record

              • +1

@onlinepred: Both of you have good points. I would say for most people, having B28 is a bonus but not a deal breaker.

Having great specs and all bands including B28 does not guarantee a great user experience, nor does having the latest version of Android. NFC on the other hand is more of a personal preference, some don't need.

The quality of the signal strength does not only depend on band support but the other components also matter that make up the mobile radio. Just like the amount of pixels only does not make up a great screen including digitizer.

Not really comparing "flagships", but just the quality/usability of phones in general. A phone does not need to be/operate/look like a flagship to be a good phone ( especially if bought at much lower price ), rather be a nice and trouble free to use for the most part that ticks most of your required boxes/fills your needs.

As Xiaomi is a quality and proven brand ( had a Redmi Note 4 and really impressed ) I have faith in their products and quality. On the other hand after reading many poor negative reviews on Umidigi in general, have absolutely no credibility yet for that brand.

    • +1

But no reviews yet, hard to take a punt on it.

  • +2

Helio p60 isn't really on an 845 performance level.

But at least this isn't plastic

    • +2

      Helio P60 is only SD660 level. Not even 670, 675, 710 or 821/835.

      • CPu wise, just slightly lower. Gpu wise, 660 is much better. But p60 is very cost effective as evidenced here.

    • 845 performance in a $300 phone?

      • Got a manufacturer refurbished Sony xz2 from Sony au on eBay for 320…so yeah?

Ps the comment above was in response to someone comparing this to pocophone.

  • Non-removable Li-Ion 5150 mAh battery

That's a big battery, probs the biggest battery I've ever heard of in a phone.

I'm really surprised none of the big players have ever released a phone with a selling point of two or three days battery.

My first android, a Note II, I bought a aftermarket ZeroLemon 9000mah battery, it was about 18mm thick afterwards but I had it run for a week once.

  • Got the one pro for 200. Installed a custom rooted firmware. All good for daily use. Comes with case and screen protector too. I wouldn't waste any money on so called flagship or 'better' brands for my use.

  • So tempted, has a lot of gear for $300.

  • +1

This phone does have impressive specs but no decent reviews yet and Umidigi are not the most durable phones. A mate has been interested in it for a while. Gearbest was selling it for $299 recently as an introductory price but it must have just gone up to $343 just this week as I am sure the last time I looked was last Friday.

Please do not buy a UMIDIGI phone!

I had a UMi Z and my experience was horrible:
    - really really bad software, updates made the phone even worse (all grand total of 2)
    - battery is good for a few months, then it starts to drastically run low. further in, the phone becomes hot quickly
    - camera is really bad, dual camera on the later ones are also fake.
    - there is zero support, which isn't a surprise
    - the phone became extremely laggy for no reason (wiping & rooting to remove any possible bloat didn't help either)
    - mobile signal was very poor (rooting helps a little bit)
    - being "unverified" by Google (check in the Google Play app) caused apps like Netflix refuse to play content. I also had issues with the Opal (NSW) app.

My experience was really horrible, I switched as my Nexus 5X started bootlooping and sold my free replacement. I've switched to the S8+, the software has minor issues but it is no where near as bad as my UMi/UMIDIGI experience.

  • Great bodyspecs, shame about the faceCPU.

I think is a great phone by looking at the specks.

    Specks. LOL.

    • +2

Who cares about the specks, its the flecks that count😀

  • I won't neg the deal as I have no experience with this phone model and if it works as advertised then it is indeed a good deal.

I do however have experience with the manufacturer and will continue to issue this warning whenever I see one of their phones on here.

Pre Purchased a Crystal from this manufacturer last year. Awful phone, ROM releases stopped almost instantly and before they were stable, random restarts at all times including during calls, atrocious GPS accuracy, high battery usage even when not being used, OTA update that perma bricked many of the phones.

All around shitty experience, has put me off buying phones from overseas, will never recommend this brand to anyone that isn't a frenemy.

Your mileage may vary, good luck!
