For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • I looked into this more and I believe this listing is sadly now for the Global ROM version- I saw recent reviews this month stating they had Widevine L3 rather than L1 you'd get with the original Chinese ROM :(

    • That's disappointing. I got one late last year (Oct/Nov) and it's been great (shipped with Global ROM) - was thinking about buying another. Can I ask which reviews you looked at?

      • +1

If you go to this products reviews and sort by latest, there's a couple in March and Feb that mention it.

I received a coupon on spring and purchased it around 13.5 won. It arrived in 3 days and I am satisfied with Korean language and other things. However, the ZEI 16 version has arrived. I saw it on drm inpo, but when I checked on Netflix, the image quality was L3 level and SD quality. It's better than I expected. I compared the Xiaomi Pad 2022 at home, but I think it's because of the difference in ZEI version, and it feels like the Korean version is better. I bought it with the intention of using the navigation and YouTube split screen in the car, so Netflix wasn't that important, and when I used the navigation while driving, it worked well and was very good.

I am really satisfied and using it well. The disappointment is that Netflix is L3. I hope I can see it again as L1 when it is updated later.

Netflix video quality is l3 :(

Overall it seems other people are fine with the Global ROM and if you're fine with it, I guess it's no issue? Personally I prefer the Chinese ROM as it has OTA updates and Widevine L1. There's another listing for around A$220 at 70mai-goldway which explicitly says CN Rom, however at 50 bucks more it depends on your preferences.

        • Thanks for that - couldn't find how to sort by date on mobile but now on desktop I can see what you're talking about.

Tempted to take the punt and just return it if it's really not Chinese ROM….

          Or get the Alldocube https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/898294

[Edit: looking at bit further, I can see even the November review screenshots show ZUI16…]

  • Guessing this doesn't have widevine since it's not mentioned in the listing?

    • What does one need widevine for?
