AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Why everytime I click on your links they come up as spanish?

    • +8

Because you've clicked on a link to the Spanish website at some point and need to change your region back to Australia.

    • must have had a spanish job

    • I assume you're using the website? It's pretty buggy, it's why I switched to the app instead.

Over the years I had the website suddenly and inexplicably display and get "stuck" in numerous foreign languages including Romanian (most common for some reason), Spanish, German, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and even Arabic. Only solution was to logout, clear the browser history, and log back in again. Really weird shit haha.

  • +5

After my last experience I am never buying an Aldocube again.

I dont expect much for the price but the rom/drivers on these is absolutely riddled with glitches. I got a tablet to use as a car GPS & it will often take 5-10 minutes for the tablet to realise it has a GPS built in, sometimes requiring a full restart.

Not worth it even at the low price.

    • +6

The Android Auto units designed specifically for cars (unlike this) are quite good and affordable now anyway.

And lets not forget this glossed over fact from last time when it was raised why phones do it better.

Phones also use data off towers as AGPS (Assisted) to help the GPS work better by getting a rough idea of where it is and which satellites to look out for.

Devices without mobile data tend to take a bit longer to get a good GPS signal and usually require an external antenna that goes to clear sky

      • Got any recommendations on the android auto units?

      • +3

100%. Cold start for GPS without a clear view of the sky like in a vehicle takes a long time.

    • +1

Can't say I have experienced the same thing. I have been using an iplay50 mini pro and it's worked very well for the last 3 months.

Much better than the Samsung A7 LiTE that it replaced

  • Yeah but I dont want the android auto units, too restrictive. I can put revanced youtube & other customised APKs on a tablet for music & other features, much harder on most auto products. I just want a plain old tablet I can mount to my dash & automatically connects via bluetooth to my car. Bluetooth link means all my steering wheel controls work without any re-wiring nonsense too.

    • +4

Gotta spend the big bucks then.

    • +2

I have been using Alldocube iPlay50 mini pro for about 3 months with this exact use case, it has been working very well.

I set up some automations with macrodroid and it does what I want it to

      • I am using the iplay50s & its refusal to just keep GPS active & take forever to make maps load is a massive PITA.

I can be 10 mins into a drive before it suddenly decides it has GPS again & tells me about the traffic jam I entered without knowing.

  • Dang I bought the Xiaoxin Pad 2024 last night then this pops up :P Appears this has less ram but a better chip. Hmmm.

That said, I can't seem to find a shockproof case for this with inbuilt screen protector (plastic layer in front of screen as part of the case). I could for the Xiaoxin Pad. For my destructive son, obviously :P

    • +2

      Xiaoxin Pad is heaps better

      • Sweet. Cheers mate.

      • @clear
        Hi mate,
Do you have the specific link of the product or the store?
Reading your past comment, seems you did not recommend it
So I was reluctant to buy and was thinking to buy Alldocube instead?

        Please give advice.
        Thanks

        • Sorry I thought you meant this

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/898175

          • @Clear: not sure,
my comment was based on what @bozzabear said as mentioned "Xiaoxin Pad 2024" not Pro and not 2025

          • @Clear: Nah I got the Xiaoxin Pad 2024, not the Pro. It was roughly the same price as this Alldocube one when factoring in discounts. It's got 8GB RAM and SD 685 chip. From what I can tell from reviews and benchmark sites, the G99 is better than the SD 685…

  • How's the screen on this? I'm after a reading device for mum. Something cheap with a nice screen.
Other specs aren't important. She was using my old Lenovo duet, which was incredibly slow and painful, but decent sharp screen for text. Until it got smashed.

Somehow she preferred reading on that over her Kindle paperwhite, due to size probably

    • Should be good enough, although I think Lenovo's screen might be better.
I find my m10 tabs screen better than iplay50

    • The screen is easily scratch able I have one to play some games in bed and I got it last month and there is already a scratch on it in the top right corner where I put the cover to hole the tablet. If you have a nail that is a little bit over your finger don't even think about using the tablet it will leave a scratch. I think the mini pc is better for viewing youtube as the sound that comes out of this tablet is terrible its like you have some headphones that are 15yrs old.

  • Do these run stock android? Also thinking of buying for my mum.

Can anyone recommend the Smart Keyboard? They seem pretty pricey

    • Runs stock. Any Bluetooth keyboard would work

  • Does this price include GST ?

    • What does the deal say? Yes always

      • Price does not include GST. Add $20 to total. Final price $190 plus.

        • AliExpress trade in USD with anything else fluctuating based on exchange rates. Report back the USD amounts and we'll see how right you are. Remembering what ~ means and the big ass paragraph in the deal explaining exchange rates.

As of the time of posting this comment Mastercard is reporting US$109.54 as A$172.72 still

  • How do these compare to Lenovo m10 gen 2? Bought a few for kids at $99 from aldi a few years back that they use for minecraft / roblox.
