  • Playback movies from your computer via USB or Network

what formats does it support ???

    • +1

for movies, it plays most major formats. including avi, mpeg and mkv, as well as some others.

jpeg (photos) and mp3 (music) is also supported.

      • that's rather impressive. I have always though that TV only offers limited play back via USB (MPEG)(at least it's true for the older models). thanks

        • I have one of the new Samsung Plasma TV's. It plays anything that I've thrown in via USB so far (Though the GUI looks really shit, but who cares)

I love that it plays mkv!

  • 55 Inches?! Got any bigger ones?!

  • Guys, I have seen Series 7 and 8. got some really cool stuff. some models convert 2D free to air in to 3D, or 2D movies in to 3D. Samsung support most of commonly used video files. Also got in built PVR, but can be played back only on that TV. you can plug in a USB storage up to 1TB. And the TVs are so slim and can be hanged on the wall just as picture frame. Also if you have a Samsun smart phone you can control your TV from another room via home wireless network. 3D glasses use Bluetooth and you can via pictures from angles and still see very good 3D pic. I been kicking my self why I bought a SONY few months ago.

    • Regarding the Hard Drive compatibility, one of the things we sometimes recommend to people is to get a USB powered small external hard drive which can be velcroed to the back of this TV. Great for storing recordings in bulk. Also can be un-velcroed and taken to the computer to load up with movies, then taken back to the TV for viewing.

With hard drive prices tumbling, this is a GREAT way to improve an already awesome TV.

      • Or even better, wire an ethernet cable from your router to the TV. It supports DLNA - I've been able to play full 1080p movies on it via ethernet using a media server on my PC. Pretty great

  • Plasma, cheaper/better… enough said.

    • … till the Electricity Bill comes in! ;-)

fUNNY HOW THE prices of these has gone up since Xmas.

Between Xmas day and New Years day you could get one for $2380 and that was when Samsung also had a 3d redemption going so you got a second smaller 22" LCD and some blu rays for something like $65 postage and handling…

Wow, what a enormous price on the extended warranty: $349 for only two years extra. Is Eljo serious? Is this tv so unreliable that they need to charge $349 for 2 years? Profiteering may be.

It is understood that the cost price on these warranties is very little. Three percent of $2399 is $71.95 vs a sell of $349. I think Gerry Harvey would accept this profit margin. Gerry, I think you have a new competitor in the greed stakes.

Fellow ozbargainers, what do you all have to say?

Updated. Was old warranty price from when the TV was going $3500+.

Now get 5 year warranty for $249.

      • I think you need to clarify: that's "2 years extra (extended) warranty" for $249 - that's $125 per year. I guess, based on your experience with these models, you're estimating high probability of failure.

        • No, as was said previously, the correct price - as indicated now on the site - is $249 for a 5 year total warranty.

These Series 7 LEDs have actually had a fantastic run, very few issues that we've heard of.

Warranty pricing is based on the price bracket of the product, rather than its' likely longevity. The old price was higher as the price used to be much higher and it was on the previous warranty structure.
Our warranty provider, United Warranties, have JUST gone through a restructuring of their prices, so we are now able to offer a great price on the warranties. under the new price, the warranty on a $2000 fridge will be the same as the warranty on a $2000 TV.

          This TV warranty prices:

          12 month manufacturers - included
          +1 year extension - $139
          +2 year extension - $179
          Total 5 year - $249
