        That's an interesting point about feelings. The ring novels are even scarier than the Japanese movies as they really do describe the feelings (touch/scent etc) that the person watching the tape experiences….aaaaaargh!!!

          japanese horror novels are scary
          i can still remember the novel

          like i think it was this guy had his body inside out when he was asleep—> this one is scary
          he had to keep himself awake

          another one was this possessed girl

          and its also in black and white, which makes it scary

          I've read two of them. Pretty scary. I actually find the books less scary because I can put them down. The mental picture I get from watching the film is stronger. Know what I mean?

        Jason is from Friday 13th, Freddy Krueger is from Nightmare on Elm St and Halloween has Michael. Personally I think creepy Japanese girls are scarier than all three.

    They need to remaster these movies. Nobody's going to find VHS tapes or VCRs anymore, needs to be replaced with unlabeled bluray discs for added realism :P

    I loved the jap version of Ring (owned it before they made the US version) - found it so much scarier than the American version.
    I think it helps if you watch the jap one first before the American one (and don't know what happens in it!)

    However, some people I've spoken to prefer the American version…. the Jap one is a bit slower and they struggle through it as they are more used to watching faster paced/flashier American movies.. the end is the best on the Jap version :) It's creepy through out the whole movie.

    One thing to note all, if its just my copy, but the disc marked "Ring 2" is actually "Ring 0", and vice versa. Don't know what happened here in production (didn't think this would really happen with an Amazon product), but be warned!!
