  • How do I unlock this pls. Anyone successfully able to do it?

Got it from the vodafone 40k qantas points deal. Really terrible phone and not even good for basic features. Call speaker is very quiet, phone is touch unresponsive at times and the screen fades from view when you dont look at it exactly head on. You can spend 50 dollars on a better basic non-touchscreen phone or get a used old iphone, htc or samsung for a little bit more.

perfect for locking in 7-11 prices.

  • Unlocking phone - ebay.com.au
just type the type of mobile & unlocking options will appear

  • Seems too good to be true. How much RAM does this thing run?

    • 1GB :-( specs down this page. Need 3-4 these days.

      • Depends what you want to do.
The Go edition does what it is designed for.

For general use on Oreo, 2GB will do, but with limited multi-tasking.

Probably the main thing i check when evaluating how worthwhile a cheap smartphone is, is how much ram.. Anything less than 2gb means you will be paying for something that may infuriate you when using it. Ram is not mentioned in specs above.

FWIW Huawei Y550 with just 1gb is still surprisingly good. Granted, you won't be playing games on it, but for day to day usage is fine. I don't take it with me anymore, it sits at home, but right now browsing through internet, and no lag.

      • Granted, you won't be playing games on it,

Why not? My kids have similar for games. It is web-browsing that seems to chew RAM the most, with multiple tabs.
I imagine switching between navigation, music and web would be a problem.

        • The ones that are popular on Ozbargain, that chew more ram than this phone can provide. I mean I can play games on my ancient Amiga :)

@bargainparker: You are not expecting to play Fortnight on a $49 phone, surely?

More like Minecraft or PvZ :-)
I guess my kids like the classics.

@bargaino: Your kids are gold :)

              It's Fortnite :P

On another note, you sure I can't play for a fortnight? I could do a marathon :)

The Optus X Start, Telstra Essentials Plus and the Vodafone Smart E9 all share the same 2000mAh TLi019D7 battery.

Camera on the Smart E9 has a manual mode with control over EV, WB, ISO and shutter speed which I find very useful.

Picked up one from Woolworths Runaway Bay yesterday.

  • These guys reckon the specs are

Android OS v8.1 Go Edition (Oreo)
    Mediatek MT6739WA
    1 GB / 8 GB
    5 inches 480 x 960 px
