I thought this was just a typical HS overinflated marketing but is actually a good price after a quick Google.

good price, but shipping cost $10

  • Nice price. $10 shipping or $150 min spend for free delivery. Should add the $10 delivery fee to title OP.

    Price match at JB.

I’m not sure if Tefal quality has improved or not but I previously had a Tefal, and uh, it was kind of cruddy. I am but a single person, and no doubt there are many, many people with great experiences, but I mean, who knows.

Lol what does your relationship status have anything to do with it? =p

Wife may have been more gentle with a kettle.

Surprised HS didn’t advertise the RRP as 999.95

  • Minimum volume of water isn't specified in the manual or spec sheets.

Not very useful that it is insulated and "energy saving" if you must boil more water than you need.

    • +1

Why would you boil more water than you need? Just don't fill it up as much.

I think, but I’m not sure, that certain products vary in where the element is located so they require a minimum amount of water so that the element is covered and the kettle will not burn itself out or start a fire, sort of thing. That’s my understanding. For instance, the manufacturer might say that it needs say 300 ml to cover the element, just as a completely made up example.

        • +2

These have a concealed element (like most Kettles) so the element is never exposed.

          • @spaceflight: Thanks for the info spaceflight :)

          • @spaceflight: The manual notes that there is a minimum volume - but doesn't indicate what that volume is.

            • @factor: There probably is, to make sure enough stream is made to turn the kettle off and also to absorb the heat from the element (without enough water the element could get hot and activate the boil dry protection)

  • Made in China still?

    • Country of origin: china

  • Online now marked as out of stock. Looks like a pretty tall kettle from photo but only 1.5L capacity (maybe worth including in title?).

    • 1.5L is normal isn't it?

      • Yeah but there's also 1.7L options.

      • +2

I think you’ll find 1.7L is the most common capacity

  • w00t, got one :D

  • Had 2 of this before, poor quality, it will rust in 2-3 months, not worth the $ unless u don’t mind drinking rusty water

I have this kettle, had for over a year, still works well no dramas. Just descale it once in a while. Stays warm for a long time, the exterior doesn't get scolding hot. Biggest design flaw however is the steam that escapes through the lid near handle when pouring. I would buy again, especially at this price.
