    Landfill possibly? House Fire Possibly?

still salty about being electrocuted by a Kmart glass bench top oven… was an interesting experience

    • +20

      That’s shocking!

      Okay bye

      • +6

Oooh harsh, that's bound to spark some debate.

    • Yikes….did you get the model recalled?

      • +3

they revised the model with better insulation where the power cable meets the appliance

        • +3

Better that it shocked you (in a way) and it didn't happen to a young child or someone with health issues.

    • Best to keep away from any electrical anko brand even if it is free. Here is a sweet list for you: https://www.kmart.com.au/product-recall/?srsltid=AfmBOooH0ms…

        1. Not a long list, given Kmart's range and that it covers the last decade.
        2. Not many of these are electrical; lots of clothes, non-electric kitchen goods, edibles and even kids books (which are Scholastic's, not even Anko's).
  • +10

Better to just get the 2 slice one for $7.50 which also is of higher quality (mine has been going strong for 9+ years)

    • +6

How am I suppose to save money though?

No point starving myself with 1 slice if I am using enough electricity for 2 slices.

      • +6

I feel like toasters are a missed opportunity for power reduction in the home.

For whatever reason the appliance lords decided we all need extra wide 4 slice toasters, which use way more power than anyone needs for a regular slice of toast. But the whole toaster has been designed just in case you occasionally want to have a slice of inch thick raison toast (that you could have cooked in the grill in your oven).

For the doubters, the further away the element is from the toast, the more power it uses. Admittedly there is probably an ideal distance to get an even toasting, rather than the pattern of the element…so I welcome comment from an Breville designers/engineers

        • +2

Would two levers address your concerns?

          • @wisdomtooth: If you are only toasting one slice it's still using more electricity than needed

        • It's almost like they listen to customers… Some toasters allow you to heat just one of the four toaster slots as well

    • I've had one $7.50 toaster only toast one side of the bread and another one kept tripping the power switch. I got a third one cause they are cheap abd can't really justify to spend more money for the occasional piece of toast

      • I dont notice much difference my toast with butter, marmalade, vegemite, honey etc vs toast at cafe. Why they mark up so much

  • Also the mini jaffle maker $7: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/mini-jaffle-maker-yellow-43…

    • Product Details
    • Dimensions/Size: 7.8cm (H) x 2cm (W) x 1.4cm (D)

Hmmm… is that a jaffle maker for ants?

Better to just get the 2 slice one for $7.50

Ditto for 1.7l kettle and sandwich maker. Damn kmart is cheap!

Where do you get the mini breads from?

  • review seems decent?

  • +2

If you like proper bread (bakery or home made) you'll most likely want the longer 4 slice toaster for $20. (clearance)

    • +1

I have that toaster and its pretty good.

    • +1

Check the 1-star reviews. It is wide, but too shallow.

  • +7

Only toasts 1 slice at a time? How pathetic.

    • +3

      Landfill

    • +2

It serves a purpose. Its very small so its great if you like to keep your toaster out and you have limited counter space.

I also like my bread hot so I tend to toast my bread as I eat it.

And lastly, it actually cooks very evenly. Ive had $70 toasters that alywas toasted one side darker.

Has anyone noticed these Kmart toasters don’t fit a bakery sized piece of bread properly so you have an uncooked bit at the top of the piece of toast?

    • Try putting it in lengthways.

    • -2

Change your bakery. Then order a "square" or "block" loaf.

    • +2

Has anyone noticed that bakeries dont make bread to fit kmart toasters, so you have an uncooked bit at the top of the piece of toast?

  • Power source: 220-240V / 50-60Hz / 1370-1630W

Might be good for campers with a 1500W inverter.

  • +1

    Perfect for my 600w inverter!!!!!!

There is also a mini waffle block maker for $7
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/waffle-block-maker-red-4337…

We got last year's Easter egg one on clearance for $7 late last year.

They are great, just got to start cooking your batch of waffles the night before so you are ready by breakfast time.

What a joke of a product.

  • Buys toaster
    Immediately throws in landfill

    • Genius.

      • I know right. A few of them here on OzBargain.

        • Maybe we could install conveyor belts that go from the front of Kmart to the bin a bit further in front of Kmart. Genius club here I come.

          • +1

@Skatez: The dumpster diving OzBargainers will love that.

  • Who on God's Earth only eats one piece of toast?

    • +1

      🙋🏼‍♂️

      And when I don't, I only make a 2nd after eating the 1st.

    • +1

🙋 How much do people eat…

  • +2

    Microplastics beware!

    • +2

Plastic kettles may release particles into water when boiled, which could be a health concern. Gemini.

  • Unsure why anyone would want to just toast one slice of bread??

    • +3

Do single people not like toast? Buying a one slice toaster kind of resigns yourself to being single for a while though. Better to get the two slice and signal to potential partners that you want to share toast with them.

      • Except the partner is asian, and wanted noodle or rice for breakfast.

    • To avoid overeating?

  • Hope the mini rice cooker goes down as well.

    • +6

Waiting for the "who eats just one serving of rice" comments 🤣

  • +2

    Contrary to the norm, I only cook 1 slice for breakfast;
Fried eggs x2, chilli sauce, olive oil, s&p on cape seed bread.
    Cheers got one

    • So how do you eat the second 🥚🤣

    • This won’t fit fancy bread like that. Hope you like having one half of your bread untoasted lol

      • Maybe this is a toaster for pop tarts?

  • The question is this: given that God is infinite, and that the Universe is also infinite…would you like a toasted teacake?

    • and that the Universe is also infinite…

      Infinite, but bounded.
