Notable features:

QLED for improved colors/contrast

1440p @ 120hz (not entirely sure if applies to AU model)
1080p @ 120hz (not entirely sure if applies to AU model)

Fast response time (5ms avg?)
Freesync 2
Fantastic input lag

Edit:

Just realised the American model has 240hz motionplus (120hz panel) but Aus model is 200hz motionplus… so not sure if that means it's a 100hz panel or what… Gah! Not sure if I should cancel my order as the 120hz is an important feature for me :(

Anyone got the TV and able to comment?

The 100hz/120hz is only valid based on the tuner output, and is required because the euro/Australian tv is broadcast at 50hz.

US tv is broadcast at 60hz.

Only the tuner us different, so if you are playing from Bluray/Chromecast etc you can still get the 120hz.

    • so ill be able to get 120hz @ 1080/1440p via my pc?? :D you sure??

      • I would think the TV would need DVI or Display port to do it via PC..

      • HDMI 1.4b can do 1080, 120hz. 144hz or 1440p, 120hz- you will need HDMI 2.0. But this tv doesn't support either anyway.

But considering that 1.4b will do, just rock in
to any store with a normal laptop and see how high it will go.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

  • Jalif is correct on the frequencies etc. So you are not confused - motion plus is just a technology that just creates artificial frames to smooth the image and or reduce blur. It doesn't allow your tv to accept higher signal frequencies from other devices, however the tv may be able to accept higher frequencies anyway (e.g. 75hz, 120hz etc) but usually this depends on the resolution being displayed - please check the manual it should have the specs in there.

Also google motion plus, there are plenty of good explanations of it.

Just a reminder to all that QLED is closer to regular LED backlit technology then to the superior OLED.

Still good and no risk of burn-in :P

LCD generally still has better brightness, colour accuracy/reproduction and is less prone to damage from burn in.

    Isn't this 2017 model??

    • +1

      What makes you think that?

      • Q6 is last years isn't it? Maybe not.

It is probably not a 120hz panel

    • The American model definitely is, rtings test all that stuff ;)

  • if it's 120-144hz ill be buying

    • Yea, exactly… I'm trying to get confirmation but Samsung is unhelpful >_<

American model definitely does 120hz at 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. Just not 100% clear if the AU model does as well… I hope Jalif and MrFishy are correct.

      • Did you look @ manual from au website?
It has the specs… with all supported resolutions and frequencies..

        https://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/QA55Q6FNAWXXY/

        • I did but it says:

"This function may not be supported depending on the model or geographical area"

Now that might just be referring to the 49" model as that is only 60hz… but… who knows :(

          • @hexedhavoc: Yes even last year there were Samsung models that were 120Hz but it was only the 49inch was 60. Trust me this TV is native 120Hz. All high end flagship models are now.

I’d consider this but videopro doesn’t even ship to my area

Thanks, a truly worthwhile and meaningful comment!

      Ps. No one cares.

There are 60 Hz TVs and there are 120Hz TVs.

There is no other framerate despite the lies marketing.

  • Trying to decide on whether to pull the trigger on this (well, the 65 inch version of this) or the Samsung UA65N8000. Similar price.

I've spent plenty of time reading reviews and looking at rtings.com, but just feel overwhelmed. I know this is QLED and the other isn't, and that this is "entry level QLED" whereas the N8000 is mid range regular LED, but beyond that I'm struggling. Is anyone who knows the Samsung product lines inside out able to give me a few pointers?

    • Was in the same situation yesterday. I ended up going for the Q6 65" as it is QLED. Pretty much the only reason. Was thinking the entry level QLED should be better than the mid level LED as newer tech? Anyway ordered from good guys ebay for $1,795. So a good price in my view. The website rtings has done a comparison here https://bit.ly/2rVQUZJ

From what I could gather from other discussions/ threads is that the Sony x90f is the best but that is more than I wanted to spend. For price/ performance I think I got a good TV

  • Well I cancelled my order and now it is sold out… guess I'll get it in the future if I can get confirmation on the 120hz thing >_< lol sigh

Can anyone who purchased this please test it with a PC and let me know if it does 1080p 120hz etc :)

  • It is 120Hz. Samsung don't change the panel for the displays in Australia. Even the NU8000 is native 120Hz. Which is actually very close to the Q6 in every department. Q6 has better local dimming and slightly better brightness but not by too much. Better black levels is the main difference compared to the NU8000 (which also means enhanced contrast levels).

  • Got the TV delivered today (1325 from a local HN) and can confirm it does 120hz @ 1080p :)

    Is freaking awesome :D

  • Can someone please comment on the upscaling of this TV particularly with over the air SD and HD content?
