Don't lose hope guys, I put my postcode in for Brisbane and it says

"Sorry, we do not currently deliver to this postcode" Notice how it says currently! I'm going to keep a vigil next to my computer and keep refreshing until it accepts me.

  • That sucks, miss out again

  • or Brisbane

    nsw and act only :(

  • Wats the life on Verbatims?? They're always quite a few dollars cheaper than the rest so was a bit hesitant to try them..

  • +2

    Pwns the Aldi deal.

  • Great deal. Funny how this is much cheaper than buying a raw 1TB drive.

Now just waiting for those USB 3.0 enclosures to come down in price so I can upgrade my current one…

  • bloody corporate express…. this deal is the only item on that entire site that is not a ripoff :D

got $5 of random shit to hit the $55 free postage amount

    • +1

Can you share any hints? I am struggling to find $5.01 worth of decent bonus goodies (effectively they end up being freebies, I guess).

  • +1

    I really want one.
Can anyone confirm this site is legit before I enter my c.c details ?

    • +5

      yeah its legit

i believe staples is the american version of officeworks

They have over 2000 stores worldwide. Should be fine.

  • Does this go into the normal usb2 port on my laptop or do i need a converter??

    • +1

USB 3.0 is fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports.

    • +2

I've been using a USB 3.0 drive on a USB 2.0 port for a while now. It is interesting… the USB 3.0 device ramps down to USB 2 speed, but is still about 10% faster than the native USB 2 devices. So it's great.

      • +1

Its due to a better memory controller being used in USB 3.0 devices.

        • Yeah, I reckon you're correct. What's happening is that the native USB 2.0 devices aren't even making full USB 2.0 speed of the ports.

  • +1

Spend extra $5.01 and get free delivery in metro NSW and ACT

    why not get these ?

    • Because I use Sennheiser.
      Sharpies it is!

  • Awesome deal!! Got the drive + a couple print cartridges I needed, with the $22 off + free shipping.

Another tax writeoff too makes it even sweeter :)

  • nice bargain, phantom!

  • I bought some of the duracell LSD batteries :)

$13 extra for 6 and a ream of paper… seems good.

    • GEEEZUZZZZ $12.45 for a 2 pack of AA LSD's. Everything in my bones is saying "don't buy, don't buy" - I can't see past that to get the $20 discount. Shit, that is expensive… LOL

      • after you buy them go get a pricematch ;)

  • delete

  • Is this powered by AC or USB?

    • +4

its not a 2.5 inch drive, it's a 3.5". All 3.5" drives are powered by AC current only.

  • Too bad it's only 1tb. I really need a good bargain on some 2tb drives for my NAS…

    • But for NAS drives don't you need raw drives, not enclosured ones?

      • +2

        Break the enclosures open :)

  • Deleted

    • +2

      no it's $88.

They were stupid/misleading in their calculation of GST.

      • I missed the original comment - are you saying that the $20 discount for a $80 spend is excluding GST?

      • Got it, ordered 2 x 10 ruled writing pads + 2 x 100 EXP sheet protectors as well, comes to a total of $69 with the code.
No wonder they need these loss-leaders, everything else is so expensive! (OW is much cheaper, on this site you can buy $45 Celco scissors)
Also, 75 left [Add 100 to cart and only 75 or however remaining will show up].
@llama yeah, it says you need to spend over $80 for $20 discount, I removed it after I realised that was without GST..

        • +3

The funny thing is that I can see what the other OB'ers are buying because it shows what other items recent purchasers have grabbed. All cheap rubbish LOL

I'm just gunna go for $55 and get free shipping. I simply can't bring myself to spend another $38 to get a $22 discount. The prices on most stuff is outrageous! Check out the USB Flash drives EEEKKK!

        • +1

          @ llama

          get a4 paper then?

          not overpriced at all!

        • +2

          Yeah exactly

          Wait someone bought this
          4GB USB $17.45

Shame on you Ozbargainer..shame on you

        • @ spawnpoint

          unbelievable

        • "@llama yeah, it says you need to spend over $80 for $20 discount, I removed it after I realised that was without GST"

Am guessing that's the US ownership, as everything is quoted excluding tax there.

  • +2

    GREAT DEAL!!!!!!

    Bought 1tb usb 3 drive
7 slabs of A4 reflex paper

total free delivery = $66!!! with the $20 off $80 spend coupon!

    VERY NICE!!!!!

the paper alone would cost me $32 at officeworks!

  • Beware of these magical Chinese drives: http://blog.jitbit.com/2011/04/chinese-magic-drive.html

    • looping is new to me

Normally I have heard only of overwriting!

      • +1

It's the same thing, all the file names are saved (icons are not)
Seen this like 3 years ago..
But to Bryans, I don't think Staples will be selling fake stuff haha

        • overwriting doesn't give you last 5 minutes
if file size is more than the free space, it won't overwrite
With looping it only writes till file is full from part of a file. Thats bloody amazing if you ask me

        • @Spawnpoint
Basically the controller has been warped to read as the specified amount.
Very similar to the fake MemorySticks used in PSPs haha

    • +2

Fake. The dead giveaway is 'copying a movie but only playing back the last 5 minutes', since the headers required for playback of virtually all major video file formats are at the start of the file.

      • that's an idea..

You can order more than 1. I added 2 to the cart, plus the $80+ coupon and free delivery, =

    2 x 1Tb external drive, delivered, $77.98

I just bought a 1Tb from JB for $79 a few days ago which is annoying…

    • OH POO POO POO!

I just wasted an hour of my life searching the site for decent items to build an order up to $88…. and you just dropped 2 HDD's in the shopping cart. GRRRR, not happy - I am gunna go and sign up another account now

    • I saw that too… but not sure if they'll cancel your order so I didn't risk it D:
LIMIT OF ONE PER CUSTOMER ONLY

    • Grrr - I can add 2, but it won't let me do checkout and pay on the new Account I just made. It's not the deal - even if I delete the HHD's it still won't let me buy any more (must be an IP check).

No OzBargainization possible from me :-(

      • Can confirm the order went through, they didn't cancel it.

  • +1

    THANKS YOU PHANTOM !!!

    1 x Philips Lightweight Headphones (sku 18707083)

    2 x Sharpie markers 0.3mm tip

    Total $67.37 delivered.

Yeah, the headphones will be crap, but I was getting bored searching through the overpriced rubbish

EDIT - HOW am I making that line large and bold LOL?

        LOL - but I didn't use # :-D

    Can I say Ozbargained!

    • +5

I dunno if you can…. their server didn't crash =\

      • +2

deal still has 8 days to go
If this deal started today then I say
        Ozbargained

      • +2

The server was outrageously slow and clunky for me. I'm interstate and tethered to my phone via Bluetooth, but that Staples site was taking like 30 seconds to display each page (and I'm on here and surfing eBay without problems).

So, probably just a mild case of Ozbargaining!

    • +3
  • Sorry, this item is currently out of stock or you have exceeded the quantity limit.

    • +1

      DAMN YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
waits for Verbatim 1TB USB3.0s to appear on eBay

  • yeah i was too late on this one. damn so cheap, plus the $20 discount from over $80 is awesome too.

  • great deal, i missed out though no stock :-(

Does anyone know what the RPM of these drives are?

  • Seems to be back in stock now - it lets me add one and proceed to checkout.

Damn postage spoils it for me though. It's $26 delivery regardless! (Regional NSW)

    • Yeah, I was so happy when I discovered this deal was reinstated!
Just bought 1 HDD and a pair of TDk ear phones for around $56. Great bargain!

  • Hi, does anyone know of a Parcel Forwarding company in Aus that could be used to get this deal shipped to the other states?

  • Out of stock again :( I came back having decided to pay the $26 shipping and now it's out again. That'll teach me to procrastinate!

  • Just ordered 1 (12:20PM) with 3 Sharpie Permanent markers SKU 86512757 Total Inc GST $55.54

  • Hdds sold out :(

  • well it's about time 1tb prices are @ this price considering 2tb drives have been around $100 for a while.. i bought a seagate 1tb from HN for $50 like Q3 last year (used a $50 coupon though)

  • I managed to get one at 12:20pm today with free delivery for order over $55. The $22 discount for order over $88 was not working, they must have fixed it from yesterday. Anyway, I can't complain, still great value with free delivery.

P.S. They removed this HD from their site, so it seems the offer is closed for good now.

      I've got mine now.
      It's a Samsung F2 1TB in an enclosure.
      Despite being Samsung… uberprice.
Will be my first Samsung [Strongly advised against by my friend] drive after always using WDs and Seagates.
One of the cons is that it's only 5400RPM, where as most 3.5" drives nowadays are 7200RPM.
Could be faster, but for its price, it's great :)

  • +1

got mine as well :D very very fast service!
