  • So…$67.50 for in game digital items being 'retired'. Wow. Game developers are really pulling a fast one on us.

    • stuff is worth whatever people are prepared to pay for it.

      • I know it's a mistake to apply my own value proposition to other people but c'mon, you have to admit this is ridiculous.

Blizzard is just a puppet of Activision now so they have to do these things to try raise the stock price after a year of dismal game sales, they never had these digital cosmetic items until just after the merge with Activision. You are right it's ridiculous and it will probably only get worse after game dev company shareholders seeing Epic making billions off fartnite cosmetic skins.

          • @Teh White Mamba: I think that's the danger with these sorts of sales. Soon, it no longer represents any 'added value' to the player but rather becomes a shameless way to squeeze as many dollars out of the player base as possible.

Again, applying my own value proposition is naive, but I think you have to call out when something seems fishy, and this does.

  • Blizzard's cash shop is pretty tame. There are over 700 completely free mounts to choose from, then 13 you can buy with real $$$.

They all do the same thing, no in game advantage. There's plenty to criticise about the gameplay but I don't think this is exploitative.

I read that somewhere it stipulates that these items might come back to the store in future. So if the only reason you're buying it is because you think it's your last chance, I'd say advise against it.
