My Moto X4 just received an update to Android 9 today.

  • I am fairly certain the base Moto G6 does not have NFC. As opposed to the Moto G6 Plus which does.
I have been keeping my eye on these phones for a while and have decided in my mind that it is worth stepping up in price a little for the G6 Plus for NFC and slightly better camera.
I am willing to be corrected if I am wrong?

    • G6 DOES have NFC, use it everyday with GPay…

      • What model number is yours? Officeworks version is XT1925.

      • Strange!
On just about every website, the section for NFC is either conveniently missing or "N/A" including the officeworks website!
But you have the phone so you would know.
        Many apologies.
And thanks - makes this phone much more appealing.

    • Don't know why you were downvoted for asking a question.

G6 Play, G6 and G6+ models make up the G6 series. Both G6 and G6+ have NFC and a dual lens rear camera, G6 play does not. The g6+ apparently has better camera performance/features than the G6. Sweet spot is apparently the G6 as it is only a few $$$ more than G6 play. You'd need to check reviews with camera samples to determine if G6+ is worth it for you personally.

      • True but the G6 play has a much better battery life if that's important to you

  • FYI I can't find the G6 in silver on officeworks website - might have to price match for the more expensive indigo one.

    • Indigo is only $5 more but nicer looking phone in that colour IMHO.

  • Looks like 2nd SIM is 2G only, so not much use.

Officeworks model is XT1925-7 single-SIM version. Will they still pricematch?

Officeworks specs are wrong. Motorola AU website has full specs that show it has NFC and Band 28, and is dual sim 4G/3G (Standby).

      • Thanks, local model looks good.

The TobyDeals does not say what variant. I (mis)read gsmarea to imply the 2nd sim was only 2G.

    • Sure it is 2g? Only useful for using that slot for phone calls only not data.

My x4 and wifes g5 plus have 4g and 3g for the second sim. If I get a deal for data, i.e kogan 32GB for 99cents, I use this in the 4g slot and 3g slot for regular sim and making phone calls.

  • How do I price match if that Toby shop located in Hong Kong? What do I need to show in store at Officeworks to get a price matched?

    • +2

Just show the price on the website. Office works new policy is to match grey and online stock as long as model number is identical and price includes shipping.

      • Thanks, will try to get one tonight. :)

  • How does the 430 chipset stack up vs the 630 of the Plus?

  • +1

Tried to price match the indigo on the phone with Officeworks.

Was told they wouldn't match because the Toby's website doesn't have the model number listed, therefore they can't confirm if it's the overseas model or same as the one they stock.

    • +1

It does have it listed though? XT1925. Toby's doesn't have the -X suffix on it though - maybe try in store? They may be more lenient.

TD also has the Moto G6 4GB/64GB version for $349, which is a stonking deal! Was $509 according to their site…

  • Just went to officeworks, they refused to price match due to lack of Australian warranty via tobydeals

    • can you give a bit more detail by what they mean by lack of aussie warranty? Did they explain specifically what was different or lacking?

I got my huawei nova3i priced beat a few months ago, and they only asked to see if shipping was free.

      link to TD warranty.
      https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/warranty/

      • The staff were looking for evidence that warranty would be honoured in Australia. As there was no mention of Australia on Toby's warranty page they wouldn't match. I also doubt their pricematch policy would apply to overseas web pricing - but I don't think the staff realised this was shipping from HK !

        • I showed the OW staff the shipping page to show it's free over $50. They price beat after seeing it. Interesting to see that different stores/staff do it differently.

I found the huawei deal when a few other OZB bought it

        • According to Toby's FAQ, they only ship to Australia and New Zealand, so what's the point of specifically mentioning Aus on the warranty page… I mean, where the hell else is the warranty going to be honoured OW!?

    • I thought they would price match grey stock as well.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399699

  • Could anyone get the shipping to be free?
    Mine comes up as $33.90

    • The website states free shipping to Australia for orders of AUD$50. What country are these shipping from?

  • can someone please share the officeworks link for this? I can't find the silver version on their website..

    • Looks like Officeworks only stock the Deep Indigo version.

  • will try matching at local Officeworks tomorrow morning and report back.

    • Officeworks at Bondi Junction were happy to honor pricebeat on the Indigo phone. Very professional and friendly service.

      • Interesting… Officeworks Maribyrnong VIC said no to a pricebeat on Tobydeals for the Moto G6 Plus but they agreed to do it for Catch

Apparently it has come down from the "head office" not to pricebeat products from Tobydeals

      • what's the staff name..

  • Are you sure Officeworks Price Guarantee now includes overseas purchases?

  • Would not price beat as it wasnt considered same product as its dual sim on toby and nano sim at OW

    • +1

Sorry BeRad, but you have been shafted, OW version is definitely dual sim. I know someone who got one. Go back and ask them to show you the box, dual sim version will have 2 IMEI numbers. Also check the link to Motorola spec in my original post, it confirms Australian stock is dual sim. OW website is incorrect, they need to correct it.

      • OH interesting. Having looked into it seems it is nano, and dual sim… so probably just a lack of understanding on everyones part there. Thanks for that @billy_bob. Hopefully get it tomorrow at OW and mum will have a new phone for xmas. Cheers.

  • Looks like toaby is out of stock in the deep indigo, so no price match.

  • guys..i'm looking at g6 plus and where officework in sydney area price matched? South western area like Liverpool doesn't do it…heard one guy around here OW at bondi junction do it.
