dont do it. Its heavily discounted because no ones to go on the cruise. YouTube Chinese tourist behaving badly that should deter you from this cruise…

    What's with the yelling?

Seems cheap - tourist tour, ie taken shopping everywhere?

    • Shopping tour!!

    • Yeah to factories/stores which have deals with the tour groups where you pay exorbitant amounts for inferior products. Tour guides "urge" you to buy too. Fun!

      • Yep, pretty much.
We went on the Trip A Deal China tour in April this year. It was $2499 for two people (which includes an extra $500 for flying out of Brisbane) and much of it was shopping tours. That being said, you couldn't beat the value and the shopping tours were still enjoyable. A lot of extras are offered and up sold by the guides which is where the money is at for them. Funniest thing was - the Bund cruise in Shanghai, the cruise tickets had the Yuan price on them but the first digit was changed from a 1 to a 4 in pen.

The mandatory tipping which was an additional cost was interesting but still palatable yet Trip a Deal asking for äirport tax" for the second passenger (as it was a two for one deal) was interesting as no airport tax actually existed. I note that they now call it something like a second passenger fee so I'd guess someone complained. On my tour, someone questioned this and the tour guide explained it was a fee linked to the hotel rooms ???

Tour Guides were all excellent, especially Joe in Suzhou.

I'd still recommend Trip A Deal though.

In my experience with Chinese group tours, if you look Western they won’t force you to buy things. If they try, just stare at them with your barbarian eyes and they will freak out and let you out of the shop.

If you look Chinese, you’ll be locked in the shop until you buy enough to be set free.

  • Departure 27 or 29 may only.

Will be interesting to see if W.A ever pulls a brexit. I don't think the other states would cope very well.

WA will do much better if all our WA taxes remains in WA.
We have tried to break away on 2 occasions but the federation laws forbids it.
WA will be far better off without the Federation.

Warning read the reviews on these Asian based port cruise, they are really bad. Great ship when sailing from Sydney but from china, food, crowd, entertainment, nightlife will be all lacking.

    • +1

      Link?

      • +3

        cruise critic

    • Wouldn’t that be because all of those would be tailored to the Asian market?

      • +1

correct, though if you are expecting a cruise like one from Australia you will be disappointed

    • I went on one from Hong Kong. The crowd was divided into Asians and Westerners. So like 2 separate communities that never mingled.

A few of the restaurants have their menus changed to the same Asian one. Not necessarily a bad thing, just less variety.

Oh, and smoking is allowed in the casino during Asian sailings.

    • This ship is Spectrum of the seas. It hasn't sailed from Sydney - hasn't even been launched yet.

There is a similar ship that visits Sydney - Ovation - but you can't say they will be the same experience.

      • Yes. Royal Carribean change the food ,entertainment, menus, smoking rules, even the cruise staff are Asian. A different experience to cruising out of Australia. We did Royal Carribean in the Carribbean and it was different to Australia.

Pretty bad deal if you actually want to see the best of either country

  • A brand new ship from Royal Carribbean. Often hard to fill new cruise ships as they have teething problems and so some features fail to work as expected. Also the crew are all new to the ship. A good price but don't expect a normal cruise. Also as mentioned being an Asian cruise smoking is common outside and also in the casino. The food is changed to cater for the crowd. Karaoke is very common as entertainment as that's what the Chinese passengers like. Also the music played tends to be oriental as different style. If you read reviews on cruise critic you can get a feel. Being the price it is. Once you knock off the 700 dollars or more for the flight you can see that the hotels and cruise are just being given away.

  • Wow look at all those places, would be amazing to have a holiday traveling to all those sights on land, interested to see what an on ground tour of China would be like.

  • RIP to the tourists during the China parts of the cruise, especially Beijing "Zoo". Not enough eye-bleach in the world.

  • Mandatory $12/day gratuity charge not included bahahahaha

    • thats per person per day for all the days in China yea?

I am not sure if the cruise's gratuity has been included too.

  • From the thumbnail I thought this is another Lego set.
