Kogan 26800 mAh PowerBank, 60 Watt with PD, QuickCharge 3.0 $69 + Delivery @ Kogan

970

I haven't seen this one before, a 60W USB-C PD powerbank (Specs say 20V 3A) for $69 is quite a good deal. My email says this price is for the next 32 hours or so. For comparison the Cygnett 27000 which also does 60W PD is $140.

You can get free shipping with shipster (which all good ozbargainers should have gotten for free) - otherwise shipping to metro melb was around $9-10.

You can also stack with 10% off kogan gift cards

So you can potentially get this for around $64 shipped (10% off $50 gift card and free shipster shipping)

Quick specs:

Battery Capacity 26,800mAh
Input Type-C: PD 5V=3A, 9V=2A, 12V=2A, 15V=2A, 20V=1.5A
Output Type-C: PD 5V=3A, 9V=3A, 12V=3A, 15V=3A, 20V=3A

    • When it comes to heating up, be it while charging/discharging/hot climate, I am scared of it being exploded. Any idea how safe is this power bank?

After lot of thoughts I took a leap of faith and bought it.

    • Its heavy(615g) and big, can fit in pocket but not really portable.
    • Charged using QC3 and it took 10 hrs to charge from 2nd light blinking to full(all the LEDs light up and no blinks).
    • I was very skeptical about heating, didn't even warm at all when charging continously for 10hrs. My Anker desktop charger was warm(not hot) while charging the power bank.
    • Charged my Nokia 6.1 from less than 25% to 100% in 1hr 10min, its ok as phone doesn't support QC3. Yet to try with my S9.
    • I bought this even though I have no need for 60W PD. 😁
    • Really happy I cancelled my order for Anker Powercore+ over this, saved around 30$.
    • Time will tell its reliability, hope it last for long time.

As mentioned here, its marked as 60W. For reference, here is the picture of the spec printed on back of the power bank.

    • Charges S9 from 7% to 100% in 1:35 min, using QC3 port. Similar to wall charger and again no heat while charging the phone.

  • Hrmm looks like I got a dud. One of my USB-A ports doesn't recognise that a device is connected (80% of the time). Also had a strange situation where instead of charging my laptop (via type-c) the power bank was charging instead. Not sure what sequence of events causes it, but I have seen it happen multiple times. Anyone else having issues with their powerbanks?

Doesn't sound right, the Kogan rep did mention this as one of the features:

with PD 3.0 and anti reverse charge, when you charge your laptop via type c, it will always charge the laptop, not taking power from the laptop.
