  • Has anyone tried? Does it work?

  • Mindfulness meditation is good for you in a lot of ways, mood, anxiety, depression, etc, there has been significant research confirming it.

It is a skill and requires deliberate practice to improve at and get the full benefit, kind of like exercise, the more you do it the better.

Headspace is a good app because it makes meditation very accessible without any additional spiritual or cultural leanings. The animations and narration are simple, helpful and high quality.

There are alternatives that are free/freemium like insight timer or even just YouTube guided meditations, these are good but can be a bit fluffy and inconsistent.

Bottom line is that headspace is a useful tool and quite a polished, well put together app, it is the best I have used but I admit to struggling to stay consistent.

At AUD 20/month I couldn't justify paying it and not using but at AUD 80/year its a good deal if you plan tonuse it everyday.

  • It’s good, but I paid for it during a previous special, and barely use it. Oh well.

  • ahh bugger, not for existing subscribers.

    • I'm an existing subscriber and successfully got the deal.

      • I get a "whoops you are already a subscriber" error and it tells me I should disable auto renew. So i've disabled and will see if I can get a better deal in new year sales.

      • How?

      • Any tips on how to do this? Getting knocked back as above.

  • would there be anything on headspace that would be suitable for kids? 7 year old with adhd

    • Yes there is a whole kids section. Use it regularly with my 8yr old. Helps her relax before bed.

      • thanks will definitely give it a go then

This is a great app and one of the best in my opinion.

I was fortunate enough to get one of the free annual passes several years ago via OzBargain and used it on many occasions.

However, I find that even the discounted rate of $70 AUD is a lot of money to pay per year and I am bewildered why they continually maintain such high subscription prices given that it is probably out of reach to so many people and yet many people would probably benefit from such access if they had an opportunity to try it.

I would perhaps consider $70 for a lifetime subscription but personally speaking I don't think its worth $70 AUD per annum.

For those who can afford it I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised by it.

    • Was that one of those free annual passes intended for those being supported by 'Kids with Cancer' foundation?
