Long time lurker, first time poster. Everyone wants to have a go at the L plate so take it easy!

Greetings fellow OzFlossers. I hope this makes your new year's resolution easier to do, as has been the case with me. I believe this is cheaper than the last Pack of 100 deal that was $5.60?

Chemist warehouse lists it at $5.99 is the closest price I can see.

Bought this last time, these are great. Super strong 💪

    • +1

Yup. Never had one break in 100 pieces for me.

Not entirely sure why but these very similar Pikster eco ones with a slightly different shape seem to work better for my narrow tooth gaps https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865369

Using up a box of the ones in this current deal at the moment but the floss shreds a little.

    • +1

Yep, same here. I was used to the 30pcs pack from the same brand being very good, that I bought 3 of these 100 and they are not the same quality. I usually go through 2 of them every night and it negates any savings from the smaller pack. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have large tooth gaps.

      • I usually go through 2 of them every night

        Somebody got money to burn.

    • If it's certain teeth shredding the floss you might ask your dentist to polish those teeth.

I bought those "plain" eco floss pics. Loved those too. These SupaGRIP ones appear shorter, but are ribbed for extra strength… ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • What about water pic. Fast and not much expensive

  • Funnily enough I had to buy the blue ones last time, and about a third of them would break. The last box of these I bought not one broke. I still think the toothpick portion of these sucks compared to the old one, but the floss on this is good.

never used to floss until the dentist gave me a pair of these to sample after cleaning session, now im hooked on that after floss feeling lol.

    • +2

it's quite satisfying knowing all that gunk is out

These are good, you get leverage with the handle, instead of trying to stick your fat sausage fingers inside your mouth with normal floss.

    • +1

Same. Now that I've started, I can't stop.

  • +1

So sad they no longer sell the silk floss (not talking about the floss picks).

  • +1

Used to swear by these but found the blue ones to be better quality less breaks.

Had to discontinue using them, one time managed to break off a filling and lodge a piece of it in my gum line. Now back to silk floss.

    • Are you talking about these Blue ones?

never really found i needed the double string versions

i recently had 2 fillings in tricky spots (inbetween two very close teeth in two locations) - have had to get them re-done 3 times for 1, and 1 time for the other as just seem to dislodge between flossing (as the floss used to get stuck hard) - no matter how much the dentist etched and tried to ensure a stronger bond.

been having better times with satin tape as it glides wayyyyyy easier. like night and day difference in those locations.

Love these ones because the pointy part is perfect to clean a phone dirty usb c port.

    What floss is recommended?

  • +3

Very good floss picks. Many are crap.

Everyone should floss. It's the only way to 'brush' the inside walls of teeth. Dentists back in my day sucked and only now they seem to push it.

    • -1

Meh, my teeth are fine and I floss probably once a week or fortnight. The dentists also now promote tooth mousse. Sheesh.

Best to just eat less sugar.

    Big W if you can't wait - https://www.bigw.com.au/product/piksters-supagrip-eco-floss-…

Amazon showing me a delivery date of 7 Mar - 18 Mar.

    • At more than three times the price.

  • Are these single use?

    • +1

Depends on how far you're willing to take it.

    • They cost so little. I use one for top teeth and another for bottom teeth. If I were rich I'd use one per tooth.

  • Not sure if they can make reusable handles for less waste. Bought to try.

    • Seen some 3d printed ones that you can restring with floss/ tape

  • Any one got any Teepee flossers on sale link?

  • do these shed microplastics?

    • Just looked and still available.

Edit: Must have been a lag. Now showing OOS for me too.

  • +1

Still available, just long delivery time.

Anyone know if these floss picks are PFAS-free? I've seen PFAS-free regular dental floss but unsure about these picks

    • Description says PTFE and Google tells me PTFE is a PFAS

  • +1

    Wait, you guys floss?

  • My grandfather lived to 96. Never flossed a day in his life and had all his teeth. His brushing ritual was weird though. Before bed time rigorous brush 3 mins. Morning after waking up clean tongue and gargle only and after breakfast light 1 min brush. My dad follows the same ritual and I got into the same habit. Also we never use electric, only cheap manual tooth brush replaced every 2 months. All 3 of us have never gone to a dentist in adult life.

    • +1

More likely down to genetics than your routine. I take much better care of my teeth than my hubby and have a mouth full of fillings. His teeth are so good he could probably stop brushing and still be fine. His dad has no teeth though so guess he got it from his mum.
