    Kudos! +1'd already

  • +2

I've been burnt before so I just won't up vote until it's true.

  • Will wait and see if it works on eBay gift cards.

    • Generally, gift cards don't work on ebay US. Only UK.

      • Oh well then I'll pass. Thanks anyway chibot.

  • ebay US will troll us again?

    • +1

yeah, someone making US great agin right now,lol

Op history has interesting results for eBay related sitewide discounts

I don’t understand why sometimes people go “searching” for these things.

    • +14

Yes, I do monitor for these. Reason being because I don't like eBay AU's system of x% off after $xx minimum spend. But that's me and by no means am I asking you or anyone to adopt the same thought.

You can easily just look past these posts if it bothers you.

    • Username checks out.

    • Yep username really really checks out!

  • +10

No minimum, hear that eBay Australia?

  • +1

It might be time for me to make a US eBay account. Do you just make up a registration address when completing your profile and address-book details?

    • +1

You can go to google maps and max zoom in on any property in the US. Click on it and you get it's address ;-)

      • Thanks, I don't remember eBay ever needing to send anything to a "registration address", so it should be fine I assume!

        • Creating a US account you have to use some persons US address.. is this not illegal.?!
If you were to use such an account and purchase something in the US then how do you account for GST duty.?

          • @Hipalastic: Use eBay US to buy stuff from eBay Au at 10% off, otherwise, yes you will have to pay 10% off GST and shipping if applicable.

            • @Mel-waukee: GST is payable on anything shipped to an Australian address from outside Australia, no matter where the purchaser 'lives'.

      • zooms in on the white house

Good time to get a discount on our normal category exclusions.

    • +2

      +1

Good time to buy car parts as that category is always excluded now with Ebay AU codes.

  • What sort of things are people considering buying?

I dont know what to get in the US store I cant just get in the Australian store. Any ideas?

    • You can buy stuff from Australia too… This just has better terms and conditions.

      • Do you have to create a new ebay US account, or can you use your normal one and go to the US website?

        • Create a new one. Safer as eBay may close your account.

          • @follow: I don't know why they would close your account for visiting the ebay US site - changing your address to a US one, yeah I get that, but not for visiting the .com instead of the .com.au ???

            • @sssx: They won't just for dusting my visiting, they might if you purchase

Note: There will be no local warranty

    • +5

You're purchasing from the same stores as eBay AU, just through the US domain instead. It's no different in terms of warranty, unless you specifically buy items from US sellers.

      • -8

It is different. Australian laws wouldn't apply

        • +4

How so? If you buy from The Good Guys for example, all you are doing is using eBay as a middle man to pay, your warranty rests with TGG and ACL still.

Same as if you use eBay AU to pay, the company you're buying from offers the warranty, not eBay.

        • +5

Sopzo… if you're going to make a claim like that, you're going to need to elaborate.

  • So how does this work? I just make myself a US Ebay account, log in and can buy stuff from AU sellers?

    • +2

      Yep, simple as that.

  • Does ebay usa automatically tag on 10% gst if u ship to an aussie address?

    • If you buy from an Australian seller then there is no GST.

      • Yes there was for me, unless they stated item sent from within australia falsely.

    • Only IF you buy from a seller with a non-Oz address.

    • +1

Ebay global shipping charges more than 10% even when you takes into account shipping charges. 10% GST only suppose to apply to the item price.

      • they definitely gouge more than the 10%, even if you include 10% on shipping with their sneaky "import charges"

that's why i send any US stuff to my US forwarding address, and i pay the more honest 10% on item + shipping to Australia.

        • Who do you use for forwarding?

          • +1

@tolkaNo: currently it's myus.com since i had a free 2year premium membership signing up with my amex card. it also gives you a small discount on some shipping costs

  • What is the go whhy buy from ebay us

    • 10% off

      • yea but why, what

        • See other threads about this for full details.
          Very basically -
Set up a new ebay.com account with a fake US address, and add your real shipping address when buying. Add code at checkout.
Also ebay giftcard works as more discount.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yea but what about shippin

            • +1

@Budju: Shipping is normal cost as stated at checkout.
It will be shipped to your Australian address if you have it stated as shipping address at checkout.
The item will be sent normally, but you just get 10% off by going through ebay.com, instead of ebay.com.au.

You can buy anything you find on ebay.com.au on ebay.com, by just editing out the .au in the url.

              Good luck.

          • @[Deactivated]: eBay.com.au gift cards won't work I thought?

            • @atlas: I think they do, but I'll be trying it tonight so will comment here if sucessful.

              • @[Deactivated]: I stand corrected. Just tested and it worked… stoked!

                • @atlas: How did you get it to work. I tried on my eBay US account with some random items and it gave this error message when using an eBay AUS gift card. "You can't redeem a gift card for orders in other countries". Hoping to get it work so i can save even more later tonight.

                  • @Monty1089: Getting the same message

                  • +2

@Monty1089: My apologies everyone - it doesn't actually work. When I tested it earlier, I was on eBay.com but was unknowingly logged into my Aus account. Then tonight when I tried to use the discount code it of course did not work, so I then realised I had to switch accounts. The gift card didn't work with my US account.

                • @atlas: how………..

  • Is this working? Is there a code or anything? I'm not getting 10%…

    • +2

Starting 10pm tonight. I'm keeping my eyes on this.

      • Ah cool. I swore it was last night!

  • +1

Can we buy eBay Digital Gift Cards with this to use later on ebay.com.au site?

    • +1

No, they are excluded. Plus gift cards are region specific e.g. you can only use AU gift cards on AU Ebay.

      • Okay thanks

  • Not working for me. Says "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again."

    • Doesn't start till 10pm tonight.

      • Ah, I see that now. Thanks!

      • thank you .. I will have to wait too/

  • CashRewards should still work on ebay US too, right? Only 1% but better than nothing.

  • +2

Perfect, finally a discount on car parts!

    • I'm about to try it on an alternator!

  • Not working for me. “This code cannot be applied to your order”.

    • same here with my US account

      • It works for me. I just tried it. I haven't bought anything yet but logged into ebay.com and went to checkout with a random item and it deducted 10%.

        • Worked for me

        • was trying with ebay.com.au…with ebay.com trying now but can't find my product even with the exact description

    • not working for me either….same error

    • So I made another US account, this time with a US phone number and the 10% discount applied. However now I can’t use my ebay.com.au gift cards like some users reported above.

      • I haven't figured out a solution yet. Hoping other's that have had success can report back a workaround.

  • Code works for me. Australia-located item, via ebay.com

  • works 100% with my USA a/c :)

  • Works for me guys. If you fail just do it again. I have to do it again 2 times

  • pity this cant be stacked with the ebay gift cards… "you cant use gift cards for purchases in other countries"

    • this guy claims to have gotten it to work…..

  • Only one redeem per account !

    • Usually is with the eBay US sitewide sales.

  • +1

registered with a US address on ebay.com. It says this code cannot be applied to your order.

  • Thanks chibot, just registered an account and it worked for me. Had no idea it was so easy!

    • It's very good when it works.

  • Thanks chibot, finally got the car part I was after 10% cheaper!

    • Great to hear. It also gets 10% off Target and Officeworks too which are usually excluded from sitewide sales on eBay AU.

      • Is it possible that Officeworks limits their range for the US site? I can't see any phones through eBay.com but there are numerous through eBay.com.au

        • Go to the .com.au site then remove .au
