Reddit review of MX Ergo vs M570

M570 was the predecessor of the MX Ergo

  • +1

Has anyone used one of the Elecom trackballs which have a very similar form factor to the Ergo/M570? Been using my M570 now for about 3 years and thinking of whether to upgrade to an Ergo or try some other kind of trackball.

Like this or this? This review of the first one doesn't seem great though

    • This is the best: https://www.clearlysuperiortech.com/l-trac-product-selector

Buy it from Amazon is usually cheapest.

Made to last a lifetime. Only trackball with self cleaning stainless steel rollers.

      • Damn - I won't lie.. I can't say I enjoy the look..! LOL

    • I've used an Elecom EX-6 wireless trackball for about a year now, every day at work. I've had no trouble with it and find it very comfortable, however I think with trackballs the trick is everyone has their own preference for shape, even more so than normal mice. Would recommend, if you know what sort of trackball you prefer.

I have one at work as I get rsi in my wrist from too much mousing (mainly late night pc games).

These are great but take a little getting used too. I am tempted to get another as they work well in the loungeroom. You can use the track wheel where a mouse would not work well (think glass table, couch etc.)

    • These are great but take a little getting used too.

Yep I agree. From memory it took me about 2-3 days to get properly used to it. However, once you get used to it there's absolutely no issue at all, and it's still fine to use "normal" mice. It's not weird to go back.

You mean trackball..? Like this kind of mouse?

Yep, sorry, the trackball. Also battery life is awesone and with bluetooth it pairs easily with everything. A wifi dongle is included but I leave that in the bag. Aaand it also swaps between devices fast with the 1-2 button. Be nice if it had more than 2 but I only need 2 devices per location.

Overall I am v.happy and am going to buy another just so I don't need to take the work mouse home with me. It is large though so doesn't slip into small pockets easily.

  • Is anybody out there?

    Oh hi skyva.

    • thanks for the deal. I needed another mouse for home and wasn't looking for this but it made me remember how good it was. Also, I run an evoluent vertical mouse at my other work due to same rsi issues, and the mx ergo is better in many respects, as well as cheaper.

This is a good alternative to a vertical mouse for rsi.

      • thanks for the deal.

Oh I didn't post it. I was just saying hi to you because I was the only one commenting hahaha

but your contribution on pricing and reviews was valuable in any case. It is how Ozbargain should work: deal posted, price history reviewed, independent and user reviews provided.

  • Thanks for posting this deal - just pulled the trigger on 2! Brings it down to $75.10 each by splitting shipping. Sadly no p/up stock in Casula :(

    Happy bargaining!

  • Thanks OP,

been having some RSI pain over the past two weeks so will give this a go

  • this or mx master?

  • +3

Have the M570 and hands down the best mouse i have ever used.

Had rsi in my forearm and shoulder and was in serious pain from editing photo's as a professional photographer.

Tried the Anker vertical mouse to no relief. More like holding a vertical bar of soap to me.

Fast forward to designing in cad as a new profession and the old issues arose again. After some specific stretching to relieve the pain I then switched to the M570 and wow, i will never go back to a standard mouse again. I can however jump on a pc with a standard mouse and still use it without even thinking then jump back on to the M570 but will always stick to the trackball mouse from now on.

So for anyone looking at this mouse to relieve rsi i would recommend to the highest level trying out a track ball, whether it be the M570 or the MX.

  • I currently use the 570 and bought the mx ergo as an upgrade and hated it. It's massive in my hand. And I have fairly big hands. I also wished it had the speed scroller like the mx master. That feature is sorely missed.

I'm using one right now. Upgraded from my Logitech MX Master. Takes a couple of days to get used to, but comfort levels are way better. Would recommend.

  • How's the middle button?

The thing I dislike the most about my m570 is the stiff middle click, the cheap switches for left and right aren't great either but they can be replaced kind of easily.

  • Sold out?

“Consider these similar alternatives as this Logitech MX Ergo Mouse is no longer available online or in store.”

  • Missed it :'(

I own this mouse. I paid full price for it, I would still recommend it at that price. I had never used a trackball before, easy to migrate to, can even play monster hunter easily on it. It is very comfortable to use, however may require popping the ball out once in a while and cleaning out the lint in the socket like you used to have to before laser mouses became a thing. (Still not a big deal and have only had to do this once after a whole year of use). Charging is fast, last for ages, can be used on your lap, in mid air, etc quite easily and comes with some cool software allowing you to use it across two computer/laptop screens at once. (This includes file migration I believe). One small negative is that the software often says it requires an update when it doesn't actually. Another issue is that the micro usb port is a little hard to plug the charging cable into because it's slightly recessed into the mouse and quite a tight fit. Also port is located at front of mouse making it a little stressful on the cable if you don't have usb's located in front of it. (Cable still very high quality and strong).

Definitely worth grabbing one or two of these if another deal pops up. 9/10 rating from me. Love mine even though your friends will make fun of you for using one. ;)

Awesome review. I like how you shared the negatives as well (just as a good review should be!)

Love mine even though your friends will make fun of you for using one. ;)

LOL. Can totally relate to this. I use the predecessor and yep I get laughed at. I'm just like "p!%s off guys".

  • Keen on one of these. I have had 3 M570's over the past 5 years or so and I basically have used them to death. As a long time sufferer of RSI - I can definitely say they are worth it. I only wish there was a left handed model that I could also use to rotate my hands.

Sadly my most recent one has started to have the middle mouse click die. Since I do lots of 3D modelling, the middle click button is used for panning and rotating - which means it's actually used more often than the regular buttons and gets a fair workout. One of my earlier ones had the same issue.

    Pity I missed this deal.

  • I love the trackball… use it for more than 3 years and still working for most of the time, but the left button is a bit malfunctional sometimes. still strongly recommend this one….

  • Clearance? New model available soon? Ergo 2s? :p

  • Did anyone receive their shipping notice yet?

    • nope, at this stage thinking of just getting a refund.

  • ROLLERBALL

  • They failed to deliver or update me regarding my order, but still charged my card. Check your statements as this looks like they are scamming some of us.

    • yes, i didnt receive mine as well, they took money from my credit card

    • They have responded to my online enquiry and indicated they have cancelled the order. They promise a refund soon.

Seems pretty dodgy that they take the money, confirm order via email, then do nothing whilst allegedly "cancelling"the order. No notification, no refund.

Great way to make money, should be illegal.

      • Bit reactionary. Ever thought that things could legitimately go wrong unintentionally because us humans are not perfect?

You're reacting as if they're refusing you a refund that you're entitled to.

        • Really? At best they:
          1. Took money for a product they didn't have
          2. Confirmed my order was in their system and would be fulfilled
          3. Cancelled my order without any notification or follow up.
          4. Did nothing for 40 days, and there is no indication they would follow up.

Once they changed their mind about supplying me, and changed my order status, they owe me money. By failing to pay the refund for 40 days, they have in effect refused to refund me until I complained.

I am certain I am not alone, even given posts we have had here about no delivery. That means it is almost certain they profitted from this as others will have forgotten. They have provided no apology or indication to me that this was a one off error, so safe to assume it is not.

They profit from their failure, plain and simple.

From my perspective I have lost an oportunity to purchase elsewhere, lost time to follow up and sort out their mess, and lost money on credit card interest for 40 days.

Not having the product you are selling is an acceptable mistake, provided you don't take the money until the order is processed. Not notifying me that order was cancelled and the refund has been applied quickly is an acceptable mistake. Selling stuff you don't acknowledge you don't have and keeping the money until someone complains is not acceptable business practice and should be called out every time.
