Part of JB Hi Fi's wacky Wednesday Specials.
These phones are coming up to 3 years old but still seem pretty capable - especially if you are already embedded in iOS and/or want a smaller phone.
Available in Space grey, Silver and Gold

Lol
And you've obviously no F idea.
Don’t pay him any attention
@stickymoo: Lack of sleep, hard not to take the bait! :-(
@stickymoo: Im a female. I only chuckled at the last sentence.
@Overcomerak: I thought I had pretty good odds. Figured most likely a female wouldn’t reply with “lol”
I was going to keep it gender neutral
Though you could be trolling me as well.. 🤔
@stickymoo: You have to admit it was a bit hyperbolic. The SE keeps small children alive? Can a 3 year old figure out how to navigate the phone and who to dial?
Supervision would work better.
@lostn: You've obviously never heard of CGM and Type 1 diabetes.. Google is your friend in this instance.
@lostn: Using compatible technologies to monitor & help with medical conditions.
Who cares that it happens to be an iPhone se that is the affordable, compatible, accessible and user friendly option.
The point is. It is helping the people that need it. Which is a good thing.
Blinded by bias
@stickymoo: Will it save every 3 year old or just the ones with rare diseases?
Pointing out hyperbole is not bias. You're making this phone sound like a cure for cancer almost.
@lostn: Every 3 year old
I really hope they bring out a new model in a similar size to the se so there is the option of a compatible & current mobile for people that want/ need a smaller size.
That's about as likely as an updated ipad mini.
I also have a mini- backing two winners 🤔
Mate which monitoring devices. Looking for a monitoring device
I had no idea that my current yet old 128gb iPhone SE would be upvoted to the frontpage at $499.
It's been a fantastic phone for me. The battery life has been 2nd to none of all the phones I have owned. I consistently get 2+ days out of it with ~7 hours screen on time. If it only had OIS in the camera it would be my perfect phone.
Bought a second-hand 68GB SE in September last year for about $300.
Been a superb phone, especially for travel when a big clunker is a disaster. I've been holding out for as long as possible on a battery replacement, knowing that the cheap replacement deal ends at the end of this month.
A new battery and clearing out 10GB of photos should have it running like new. Could see myself holding onto it for another two years.
This is NOT cheap. My business sells these refurbished for $180-200 each depending on capacity with 3 months warranty!
But this is brand new sealed in a box? Anyway I got one thanks op.
Sealed in a box for over double the price. Doesn't seem really worth it for a 3 year old phone. Sounds like a bit of a waste of money.
How about you post your refurb 'bargain'?
Only have 5 left, not really fair to be posting, but just emphasising that 400 for a 3 year old phone is not a good deal.
Best price around for identical item and almost half RRP of cheapest current iPhone (7) makes it s good deal for some people.
Don’t confuse opinion with fact.
SE is closer to 2.5 than 3 yrs old btw
Lol 3 months warranty for a refurb
These are brand new with 2 year warranty
lol only 3 months.
you'd have to be delusional to compare a brand new, sealed-in-box phone to a "refurb" from some random third party.
not that i'd trust refurbs from any source other than apple.
new is 2 year warranty and you can to genius bar and if under warranty and not working , provided no cracked screen or water damage get a swap over …..
Genuine question, coming from someone who has always been on Android all my life.
Thinking to buy a decent and cheap iPhone to be put in my car permanently, as carplay & spotify server. Only reason is my car infotainment system only plays along well with iOS device. Soo many restriction on Android app and no Android auto. Chalk & cheese compared to my wife's iPhone XS I tried, which makes me thinking on spending money just for this.
Important points:
- Don't care about screen quality, most interaction via car infotainment.
- Internet via Wifi hotspot from my Android.
- Heavily using google map, so this is ios 12 compatible means carplay with google map/waze is available right?
- My Spotify library is fairly small, 90% streaming, few songs not on Spotify to download, so 32 GB should suffice.
Any better recommendation? $399 on brand new device should be no brainer rather than 2nd hand iphone 6/7?
32gb se would be perfect. I wouldn’t buy second hand. Battery will be shot & performance will be poor.
There were 2 generations of SE phones.
The 1st had the internals of a 6 and The 2nd had the internals of a6s IIRC.
This is incorrect.
The changes in the later generation was bigger storage sizes. Internals are A9 in all. iPhone 6 has a A8.
Looks like I didn't recall correctly.
Thanks for the clarification.
Love my SE, but I got it for $250 more than 12 months ago, can't wait for SE 2
It has been discontinued so no SE 2 for the foreseeable future :(
Wait for $299 deals or $250

Just got a 128gb space grey from Joondalup. Apparently they have a 128gb rose gold left
didn’t even have the 32gb when i went to my local jb.
wanted one for jr …..
i called one store before heading out. they didn't have any 128s in stock but gave me a list of which stores might have stock. 2nd store i called did in fact have stock and they held it for me. salesperson threw in a $10 telstra sim for free. but i'm kicking myself because i didn't print out the extra 5% off barcode that was in the email jb sent out. cost myself $24.95 >_<
For all those going on about it being overpriced, you can get a lot of Android phone for the money yadda yadda yadda.
Recently I had to purchase a phone for my 8yr old daughter to pair up with her medical monitoring device.
As apple is the main manufacture on the compatibility list with minimal support for Android phones only covering the high end models.
I've never had an iPhone, was never going to get one either but for the circumstances and a small child the SE is perfect, due to size, not being made from glass and heaps of support for her.
At the time had to purchase a refurbished model as couldn't find any new stock.
There is lots of parents unfortunately in the same situation and I'd take the size and function of the SE over the other larger phones.
Just wish Android wasn't so fragmented and then maybe the manufacturers of these medical devices would have better compatibility with a larger range of mobiles.
As it is apple is the main one on the compatibility list. The SE is perfect for a small child even as an emergency phone.
I didn't have much choice but I sure as heck in my situation wouldn't turn my nose up at paying these prices if it meant my child being alive.
