Xiaomi 14T 5G (12GB, 256GB, Lemon Green) $712.80 ($696.96 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Kogan eBay

570
AUTOG10AUTOG12

I've been watching the Xiaomi 14T for about a month now, it was down to ~$708 before Black Friday, went up to $722 and is now down to an ATL (?) for $696.96 if you have EBay Plus.

I paired it with my HCF gift cards, and got it for $676.

There are probably other colours, I just like spew green.

EDIT: Lemon green is OOS but they still have:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/176666872296 (Grey)

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196785890510 (Black)

There are more expensive listings for the same products (happened just before Black Friday - not sure why).

There are also listings for the 512GB versions that have the same discount but they're obviously more expensive

It might be stupid to repeat the same question but the answer if this model is workable remained unclear as the current malfunction is mainly due to the carrier's setting rather than the device itself.

I have a POCO F3, and to use 4G VoLTE - After some trial and error - I think I used these codes?

      VoLTE ##86583##
      VoWiFi/WLAN ##869434##

I presume it'll be more or less the same.

I just found a random IMEI from a Youtube video for a 14T - put it in Telstra's website and it said it was fine. I'll run the risk ;)

      • +4

Why would it matter what codes you put into the phone, the telcos are wholesale blacklisting anything they can't "verify" falls back to E000 default on an appropriate setting, right.

There are obviously now 14+ pages of discussion on this point, but it has only been the last week some Xiaomis are starting to be unblocked, it seems. It has never been about the compliance of the phone, it is about whether they blacklist it cos "they dont know". Obviously this phone would presumably be fine (in time) but i wouldnt expect it to work on every carrier out of the box, that's for sure.

        VoLTE ##86583##
        VoWiFi/WLAN ##869434##

Ozbargain formatting screwed up your asterisks. *#*# in front and #*#* behind. Seems like the same numbers work for all MIUI phones, and also literally spell out the letters of 'VoLTE' and 'VoWIFI' on the numpad lol.

it is about whether they blacklist it cos "they dont know"

Eh at least with blacklists it means they know the model specifically doesn't work right? Versus Optus's supposed whitelist where they're simply not gonna be bothered adding in the multitudes of models out there that can actually call E000 4G VOLTE.

        • +2

          You'd need some escape characters

          VoLTE \*#\*#86583#\*#\*

          should give the desired output:

          VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*

I also have a Poco F3, it doesn't work on the optus network but works perfectly on the telstra or vodafone networks

        • Funny, my poco f3 still works on amaysim which uses optus

          • @tetra: Weird then I tested an Amaysim SIM and received that warning text and email before the October block.

            • @vawiyoci: Yeah, I got the texts and emails until early November, then they stopped and the phone kept working. idk why

              • @tetra: I just tried the Amaysim SIM again and it's not working, weird.

        • I'm really curious if your phone still has service with vodaphone. Mine just got terminated today.

      • +1

        I'll run the risk ;)

Pretty sure if you found it was blocked you can return since it's not fit for purpose.

        • I agree, I don't mind grey imports - I bought my Poco from Aliexpress, and my last Xiaomi was there also. Never had a problem with either, but you run that risk.

It might be Kogan, but I will probably have better luck if there are issues than Aliexpress vendors.

      • Hey mate does this still work for you?

  • +3

My 2 generation old Xiaomi 12T pro has better performance than this MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor.

    • The MT D9300 looks pretty good tho, shame it's not in this device

  • Other colors also available with slight plus in price but may be worth it if anyone looking for black or silver

  • is the Android Auto Google Suit and Google Wallet all working? if yes, this is a great deal.

Be careful with this device if you are now with Vodafone or Optus. I have one version of this 14T (Redmi K70U with Chinese hyperOS version) and immediately put my vodafone Sim card into slot and made the first phone call, a vodafone voicemail came in, it was like " your phone is not fully compatible with Australia Goverment requirement and would be banned from voice, message and data services".

Then I received warning message from Vodafone as well claiming almost the same content. After two-week grace period from vodafone, I was eventully banned from using their network on the 2nd Dec.

I was left no choice but to turn to boost mobile as part of Telstra network after seeing the explanation thread from Whirlpool ( https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/36yz4vrw ). Basiclly once you grey import some overseas phones, you would either be totally banned from Optus / Vodafone cause they are using "White list" that block any phone not on thir list. Or end up with Telstra which implements a more friendly "Black list " and thus allow some grey phones that are not explicitly and clearly banned otherwise

    • Thats very helpful information

    • I was on Lebara and using Huawei Mate 20 and was banned. I bought the phone from JB 4 years ago. Was getting the warning message every time I dialled a number.
Then i switched to Optus and no warning message since. Previously was on Boost and no issues.

I have an international sim which could have roaming services with all three networks one year ago, but after shutdown of Voda 3g it stops working.
Some of my friends' international sims gradually stop working and it became a pure matter of luck which could survive.
I don't believe it's relevant to the phone models as all flagships were tried. It seems like carriers now could ban any service at their own wishes rather than a given design like a band 28 or LTE requirement.

        • my roaming sim has met the same fate. Would connect to Optus 3G but now it is dead

    • +5

Telstra blocked my xiaomi redmi note 10 pro even tho it has the correct bands & volte I even sent the phone specs to Telstra when I was on a 3hr online chat they couldn't figure it out morons it's just a blanket block of grey imports they are a disgrace .

      • +1

Yeah same here with my Xiaomi 11i

        Absolute scum Telstra move hey.

    • +1

This shit really pisses me off. Instead of working with manufacturers we will just ban any phone we want and the telcos will love it because it forces people to pay exorbitant Australian phone prices. This government is truly cooked. So many insane laws passing over the last 20 years. I literally have to have a new phone ready for a family member travelling to Aus.

  • +10

This is same CPU as Poco X6 Pro - why would you pay more for the Xiaomi version of the phone with same owner.

I have had X6 Pro since a month after it came to market and works brilliantly - admittedly I have 8/256 version but never had an issue with Telstra on mine of my better halfs phone (we are with Boost which is full Telstra network). I did enter the dialler codes to enable both VoLTE (which is actually to disable the carrier check) and VoWiFi.

I absolutely hate this new whitelist/blacklist stuff with the Telcos - while I understand the need for E000 to blacklist a phone because they haven't tested it and therefore render the device effectively useless is bad - how are tourists supposed to bring their own phones with them and use them in Australia?

    • +1

The Poco X6 Pro is solid. The main differences are the cameras, IP rating, and RAM

Enough jammed in for an extra $200 if those things are a priority… Especially the camera sensors.

  • +2

Dose that mean when people visit Australia, there is a risk that their mobile phone could be come a piece of brick?

    • +5

Apparently yes after 2 weeks grace period. Thats a shame specially for those who visit regularly and may bring the same phone every time. Horrendous TBH.

      • +2

My experience was that 2-wk period doesn't exist as roaming services are almost down.
It has to be a local model with local sim.

    • +4

considering 516,000+ mobile phones in Australia have already been bricked since Oct 28, the answer is yes.

      • Unfortunately when the roaming services are off, regardless being iPhone or Android flagships you lose connection when entering Aus.

        • However, iPhones won't be banned by the AUS provider regardless of whether they are grey imports.

  • +6

Rather than blocking the phones, they should simply ban the import of these phones unless those comply with the requirements. Why poor customers have to bear the burden of their own slackness.

    • +1

Because even if they comply with the requirements they will block it anyway, they did with myself and others.

    • +3

Many if not most of the phone DO comply with the requirements.

They're blocked because carrier doesn't KNOW they comply.

  • +1

    Looks like an iphone

    • -1

I am sure it only looks like iphone, but when it comes to usage …..

      • +3

        … will be better

        • -6

          hahahahahahhahahahahaahhahaha

          • @yanlianglee: let me guess Apple fan boy ?

          • +1

@yanlianglee: It probably will be better, certainly than the standard iphone. I have owned both Xiaomis and iphones. For a start Xiaomi kills iphone for battery life. Many times my wife's iphone was dead after half a day or so when on holiday and I had loads of charge left. She also asks me to take photos as they came out better.

But you always get people that have never used an android just assuming that iphones are better at everything.

Not a deal after the moto edge neo at 400 roughly

        1 off limited run

    • This phone's chipset is much faster no?

      • +1

        Much faster.

  • -2

Isn this phone pretty much same as moto g85 but just with diff brand?

  • -1

So its the "global" version, ie, a grey import, sold to you by Kogan.

You've got to be brave or crazy, or you've never bought a grey import of a global model from Kogan and you think that's the way to get an OzBargain.

    • The pro version whish is global

  • -1

Most Xiaomi phones come in three different versions, viz: Chinese ROM, Global ROM (which is rooted Chinese ROM) and Global ROM. Only the last version is actually manufactured for the foreign (to China) market and the one you should be buying. You can't use a rooted phone with NFC on an Australian bank so that knocks out the Global ROM even if its 'whitelisted' for Australia by AMTA. If you're buying any of these phones be sure and buy it from a trader who will take it back for a full refund if it fails carrier connection (or NFC function), like Ali. Edit: No commercial connection with Ali, just a customer!

    • i think you meant to say global VERSION as the last one. You need to ensure you are buying global VERSION, not just global rom. AliExpress normally differentiates these clearly enough.

      • Not to mention in this case the OS and software versions aren't going to matter.
This really does feel like the end of importing grey flagship-killer phones since even if all future models include 4G/5G/6G etc VOLTE E000 as long as they're not sold here then the big 3 probably simply won't bother whitelisting them.

  • +4

I'm going around in circles with Telstra concerning Poco X4GT and Volte being disabled when phone is powered off. Works ok after a few hours of using the code but annoying. Advice from Telstra since 4/11 has been conflicting, in accurate and downright deceptive. Why hasn't a class action been activated. Device is compliant against all checks including IMEI and Telstra text hotline.

  • -2

Wouldn't pay $100 for this tbh. Not worth the headaches.

  • +4

For anyone who comes across this and is interested. The phone works perfectly on Aldimobile (Telstra).
