Looking at getting a circular saw and saw the ryobi 185mm corded saw dropped to $49. Cheaper than the xu1 alternative.

Do ppl still buy corded? Wait a min…$49…I guess not
yes people still buy corded…maintains its power and consistency for a longer period. Cordless is good but depending on usage, you will lose power as the months/years roll on and as your charging cycle deepens.
Wish they could drop the price for the 18v one too.
I'm planning to do some work around the house but don't have much experience with electronic power tools - mainly used a handsaw. Do you need to mount this to anything or can you use it freely?

either
Mount hands to top, then saw to wood. Once steps 1 and 2 are complete you can use freely.
A straight edge for long cuts is super handy
Yes. Search Youtube on how to make your own.
How much is it usually
Good discount
Had, used it before, while decent, I would recommend getting this https://sydneytools.com.au/product/makita-hs7600sp-1200w-185…
It has a large base plate, (more surface area to support work on) and Aluminium, less prone to warping/dents
How about Dewalt 99$? https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-1350w-185mm-7-1-4-circula…
That dewalt has a steel plate which can bend/warp easy. Would recommend either the Makita or Hitachi both of which have cast aluminium plates.
cheers
Which bend just as easy if not easier.
I have the Hitachi one, its a cast base plate and feels like a "professional" grade product.
haha the ryobi Is 50 Bucks!!!
Dont compare…
Just be careful using it, we don’t want to see a spike in ozbargain related emergency admissions…
Yes!! It suit for my "friday the 13th with
chainsawCIRCULAR SAW!!!" Costume…
….
….
Hmmm…something doesnt look right….
Ahh..shit it is corded!!..
May be i need some extension cords?Just go as yourself. That will be enough
Good thing I didn't pick it up last week. Will do today.
Great! I can now slice my salami!!
I am doing at couple of DIY projects at home like installing skirting boards and laminate flooring. Is this circular saw suitable for these or will it be too powerful? The angled cutting option is what’s making me go for it than anything else.
For the laminate it will be fine, for skirting it might be difficult to get accurate cuts. A mitre saw would be an alternative for the skirting.
Thanks. Got one. Let’s see how it goes.
Have one.. few recommendations..
A. Change the blade. Included blade is rubbish
B. Calibrate it to cut square
C. Get a Kreg Accu Cut. It will make your life easier.
Nice, I don't need it but it's a good price.
