well, if it's going to save you almost $400……

      • Save you almost $400 in comparison to what? Buying an entirely new system with an OEM windows 7 disc? Why wouldn't you just find a retailer that sells OEM versions?

        • Why wouldn't you just find a retailer that sells OEM versions?

dunno, i get mine free via MSDN… can't remember last time i paid for an OS of MS product

    • I wouldn't recommend the OEM editions. You can only activate it on one computer - it lives and dies on that computer.

An upgrade or full edition can be transferred to your new computer. Or your second computer if you're feeling dodgy. :)

    • Yeah, I'd get the OEM copy myself as well… my PC gets nuked every 1-2yrs and I couldn't be bothered installing an upgrade over an older version of Windows. The normal security updates is bad enough as it is.

      • You can just do an image-based backup once you have all your stuff installed.

You also can't (officially) reactivate if you upgrade your computer, e.g. from a c2d to an i5. So if you see yourself upgrading before Windows 8 comes out, an OEM version probably isn't the best buy.

only $111.73 here and it says $140 is the RRP, is there a difference in the products ????

both are upgrades to WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM…

    • That one is definitely incorrect. That is their "Anytime Upgrade" which allows you to upgrade (if you could call it that) from their Starter version to Home Premium.

    • Yours is different.
It upgrade win7 starter to win7 home premium.
The one in this thread upgrades vista/xp to win7 home premium.

  • +1

    this price is normal

    • yeah - normal price

for example, DSE have it for $169

  • Normal price

  • Not a deal mate. There are about 10 stores all priced 163-170 on staticice. Now, if you add postage I guess that's a couple of dollars, but this is a JB hifi fail imho.

  • better off getting the 3 licenses for $199 whatever it was family pack

  • Not a deal..

  • no deal if this is just an every day price.

  • Not a deal, everyday price.

  • Once again for Uni students or people with access to education email addresses. I believe it is still valid.
