Thats a bid item, price is not final yet. Also not from a store.

      • +1

Lol it's at $1,800 with 3 days to go. Clearly not Ozbargainers bidding.

        • ops sorry! didn't notice that.. thanks for pointing out…

  • +3

Reply here if you look up for RRP after seeing this. Lol.

    • +14

Absolutely retarded price for a phone.

      • And a pretty restrictive phone that would have been pretty cheap to make at that

      • Yep, just found out it had only 4gb of ram, ik thats not everything but like what the (profanity)

        • +5

It’s lower than other top tier phones but honesty more than enough. It’s all about OS optimisation and Apple does it best.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: More than enough for the coming years, but at this price you'd expect it to be enough for way longer

          • -8

@[Deactivated]: along with a battery smaller than the standard Android of 5 years ago. The lite weight IOS is extremely restrictive, can't play common MP4 files and you can't even set a damn data limit for your monthly cycle. WTF? Okay if it's a cheap phone but it's not, it's the most expensive on the market by a country mile. You'd expect an SD slot with the most expensive smart phone on the market wouldn't you? Yeah well no too bad.

@Joey Jo Jo: Apple is definitely a rip off. No arguments there. But they have a solid device, even if it is a bit restricted at times. From a business standpoint, I get it. I hate what they do, but I get it.

            • @Joey Jo Jo: Don’t see why you need more than the minimum 64GB with mobile plans included data plus cloud and streaming services these days.

              • @zqipz: This isnt the first time someone say. But cloud storage and you can stream. Yeah. Until we get reliable amd unlimited plans. I still would like more local storage.

        • Phones have started to come with 10gb of Ram.

Good price for the top model. But I will pass as I still think it's overpriced for a phone, I wish the iPhone xr is discounted though

    • +3

U can literally buy a top of the line gaming laptop for that price (ok, ok the laptop is $25 more :/ ).
Can anyone tell me what this iphone can do that a $600 phone can't?

      • +6

        apple logo

      • +10

Anorexic insta wannabe models look retarded holding a gaming laptop in front of a mirror when taking selfies

      • get you laid just by flashing the apple logo

        • Good luck on your beta provider goals of 2018

  • +2

Hoping for a decent price on the non-max 256gb. This seller has the max as pretty much the same price as the XS (2219 vs 2199). Decent price with the 20% off.

  • +2

    Bloody ripper price

    • -3

If you were an eskimo you'd buy ice

      • +2

I don’t get it? I don’t live surrounded by free phones

  • nice price

  • Wow, less than the price of the 64gb version.

  • +1

Wow, that’s so cheap but not cheaper than selling your kidney.

  • shot, I missed it again

First iPhone, released only 11 years ago, chat just $499 US.
Apple sure know how to make more and more money. Smartphones in 2007 could have been considered spaceships, while they're just Corollas nowadays (ubiquitous). They should really cost around $200, no matter the specs.

      Inflation

      • Inflation is low in Australia and most western countries. According to RBA:

        https://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/

a $499 device would have cost $630 last year (2017), and that is still a lot lot less than $2000. Apple simply know how to make $$. There are lots of phones with better specs that actually cost $200, and there are no explores like it in any other industry.

        • it played a role not the role

    • +3

That price was with a phone plan.

      • There was no other way to buy an iPhone at the time, and the plan was indeed good value.

        • No way you can block out Steve Ballmer’s interview.

  • +1

Wow memory must be very expensive wherever apple buys it from, $600 difference between 64gb model and 512gb model. Could have bought multiple terabytes of SSD for that price. As if the price of the phone wasn't enough of a rort already.

  • Since OP didn't put original price here it is:
Apple store price for SX Max 512GB: $2,369.00
    Save: $593.8

    • -1

      Lol

  • -1

Probably HK iphone? But still $1800 for a phone!!!

  • If ur buying apple ur not a true ozbargainer. Much better value for dollar out there for android.

    • +1

I agree, despite the fact that a 5 million house can be a bargain. iPhones at $2k cannot, simply because one can buy a Samsung fur half that (still overpriced), and it's actually a better phone in every way. Before Apple zealots pounce, I've owned and used a lot of Apple devices over the years and still use them. Won't buy a $2k iPhone, I can promise you that. Writing this a Note 8, a truly fantastic device that can be bought for under $1k, while my iPhone sits firmly in my pocket. Yeah.

  • +2

We're all arguing here that apple are "expensive". Retail prices of Samsung and Pixel phones have also creeped up.
    Samsung Note 9 (512gb) is 1.8k and Pixel 3 XL (128gb) is 1.5k

So is the Apple really that much "more" expensive

    • +2

Everyone has a different sense of value. Some just need collective assurances theirs are more valid than others.

    • I dont think I know anyone who's ever paid "retail" for a Samsung product.

      • Point is their RRP is also getting close to 2k, which is crazy expensive but only Apple get the the backlash. Discounted price is quite irrelevant IMO as its passed on by retailers. It just shows that some product need bigger discounts in order to move the products out of the shelves.

        • Apple is getting the backlash because they are asking top dollar and features that other flagship include in the box like fast charger you have to purchase on top.

          • @xoom: That's fair call.

But if you can stomach the asking price, you do get looked after (as long as you're reasonable) with after sales service, and the resale value is better than other competing flagships. And TBH, an iPhone has a longer useful life with software updates than others, as long as you don't break it!

          • @xoom: I think Apple is getting backlash because Apple are notorious as pioneer of expensive price tags. But I reckon all other manufacturers secretly cheers them on because that means the price margins go up and so they have perfect excuse to raise the price happily behind Apple..

            • @John: Of course they are cheering. If it's overpriced for the consumer then they will get higher market share.

Also Apple are continually screwing the customers over which they are also cheering for.

  • Has anybody who received their xs max 512gb, verified the actual capacity of the phone?

    I ordered xs max 512gb

The one i received has model is MT726CH/A, whic according to a website is 256gb model.

I am looking to go to Telstra store tomorrow to verify.

My one seems like opened box and repacked as there was bit of dust in the box.

    • just received mine. Mine shows MT582X/A model A2101.

Box says 512gb and it looks unopened. You dont really have to go to Telstra, just open it up and check it. If it is wrong it is a paypal issue with the seller?

Anyway, not sure if this is locked or not. Only way to try is to put a sim card in i suppose.

    • MT726CH/A Doesn’t look like an AUS model, would’ve expected X/A.

What you can try is go to Apple’s website, select your config and either look at the URL or the shopping bag for the product code.

If it’s a CHinese model, I suspect the numbers after “M” would also be different as they have a dual SIM model, not eSIM.

  • Yup, will check it. Thanks

    • And please come back and let us know on this :)
