This mystery item is a ripper. The value is so good that we just want to surprise you - it’s something that’s normally worth about $30 everywhere else, and it’s also something that most people actually need. You’re guaranteed to find that some of your friends or family will have a need for this item, so feel free to spread the word - you can buy as many as you like! It’s not exactly a “gift”, but if you handed a few of these around, you’d definitely be in most people’s good books.

Now here’s the best part. If you receive this item only to find that you don’t think it was worth it, we’ll give you a refund of the full purchase price! There it is - it’s foolproof. $30 value for only $3.99 with free shipping nation wide, and it’s something you’ll most likely need. And if you don’t need it, you’ll get your money back. NICE.

  • Refund given immediately and don't have to return the product which would have been a hassle, so no complaints there. Now what to do with the disk - it's going to end up in the bin I think :-/

    • Give it to an op shop they may get a $1 so some good might come out of it. Got my COTD refund email response quickly/without hassle so credit to them for that at least.

  • Not impressed. As far as I'm concerned it's just a "demo" to trick you into buying virus updates once your included 1-year subscription expires. I'm perfectly happy using MS security essentials instead.
Get these type of disks all the time for free, and never install them. Besides, I would technically be violating the license conditions installing OEM on my pc. Asked for refund.

    Not blaming the poster.

  • at least the refund process is without hassle, and they refund instead of store credit.

  • Not impressed.

I guess there is not much franchise value these days in an online store, too easy to set up another site to care about a customer base.

  • I'd minus this too if I could, instead my "+" is up there - misleading, in the spirit of Joke-Of-The-Day itself.

The refund process may have started off ok for others, but other than a standard "we'll be in touch" auto-reply last Wednesday I haven't heard back yet.

    • likewise, I haven't heard back since a week ago.
I won't shop at COTD again.

  • +1

I did a paypal dispute - so we will see

    • was refunded via paypal, no correspondence from COTD but at least it was painless

maybe worth disputing if you used paypal

  • what rubbish if it was a oem cd!! i forgot all about it until today. is there a deadline to request a refund? their RMA says theres a 20% restocking fee. ill be angry if they don't give me a full refund. has anyone gotten a full refund back on to their credit card for this deal ? if so how did they go about it?
