  • Thanks for the post OP! Can you update the Stamford Hotel link, as it currently links to Bridge Climb? Thanks!

  • +1

The last two links point to the same address. Kindly correct it. Thanks

  • Thanks! We love the museum.

    • +6

Worth noting too for the non Melbournites that the pass can access other museums in cities in the other states like Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, Perth and Adelaide, even Christchurch! (The NZ state)

Oh thanks, I didn't realise that. Here's the list (also includes Perth & Brizzy).

        https://museumsvictoria.com.au/join-support/membership/#part…

I see membership has gone up from I think $85/yr -> $99 Zoo's went up by a similar percentage too.
Good value, but I wonder if the state Govt is cutting funding?

      • Free entry available only to Museum Members residing outside of NSW.

        • Australian Museum and Science Centre, yes.

        • Really it’s just the Australian Museum that has the exclusion, the sydney observatory, powerhouse and maritime museum are well worth it, also Canberra locations plus the Melbourne visits.

      • +1

Christchurch Museum is donation only anyway.

      • If I understand correctly T&Cs of the deal membership is not covered.

Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, in-person at Museums Victoria Membership or online at www.museumsvictoria.com.au/join-support/membership/. Offer valid at Australian locations and website only.

        Am I right?

        • I joined using that link and got the Amex email, guess we will see

          • @UberIsCool: Cool then. Please let us know when you get the refund. I'm going to visit Melbourne and that deal would be useful.

  • I wonder if using an Amex at IMAX would register as a Museums Victoria txn…?

    • Looks like no according to T&Cs of the deal:

Not valid at IMAX at Melbourne Museum, Touring Hall at Melbourne Museum.

      • I joined the museum membership at the Melbourne museum and the merchant appears as ‘Touring Hall at Melbourne Museum’, will that still work?

  • Already have a family membership for Melbourne… wonder if I can top it up and pay an extra year in advance? I'll check next time I'm in (with a small child and living within walking distance that's most weeks, sometimes several times a week…).

    • +1

You can. Just go online and renew.

      • Champion, thanks, now extended :)

        • Did you receive confirmation from Amex - something like "You’ve just used your xxx Amex Offer"?

Also Virgin Wines, spend $150 get $50. Haven't looked for deals yet, but this should stack well with the Velocity 10k points for 5 transactions with various partners deal. Anyone sees a good offer there let me know.

    • Did you find this in your app or on the website ? Can't seem to locate this offer!

      • Must be targeted; in mobile and and amex website (when signed in).

  • Heck. Didn’t know bridge climbs are so expensive

    • Better to just go up the south-east pilon for $15, take your own camera and have free time

  • Oh there's so many good AMEX deals lately, it makes me want to get a card.
Any suggestions on a good low cost card to start with? Basically just want to take advantage of these deals.

    • Amex Essential. Fee free

    • +1

Consider your options carefully, there are implications.

      1. Sign up for a card with a big bonus sign-up points with annual fee – then cancel after one year. Then possibly move to a free card. A bit of hassle and forking out fee, but potential benefit.

      2. Sign up for a free card - Essential, Qantas Discovery or Velocity Escape. Choice depends on what points you want to earn. More info on Essential and Discovery.

Option 1 - getting big bonus points is only available to new customers. Once you become an existing customer (say with option 2), you won’t qualify for future big sign-up bonus points on any cards, unless you are no longer a customer for 18 months. Therefore, worth evaluating before committing.
