Finally we got very small amount of iPhone XS restock

Is this because of Apple cutting production across all iPhones due to lack lustre sales?

you'll never be 15 and in love
lying on the grass on a warm summer night, watching the stars, carelessly chatting
not worrying about rent, bills, student loans
only worry in life is how you're gonna cheat on that history test on monday
you'll never take a young, tight, hot-bodied girls virginity, pulling out to cum all over her back and have her look in your eyes and say "I love you"
you'll never have a girl around every day after school, pretend to be doing homework together, but instead just **** like rabbits
        you're in your 20's now
        gotta get a good job
gotta be a serious man now
all the good ones are taken
maybe a nice girl will eventually settle with you
they have already felt all those new exciting feelings before, and are usually jaded and bitter
you missed what it feels like to have not a care in the world other than making your girl happy
you have missed out on teenage love

        • Like a poem

        • you missed what it feels like to have not a care in the world other than making your girl happy

In other words focusing on your own happiness? Fail to see how this is bad.

Is this a sick joke? 2000 for a phone?

    • +8

Cheap right?? You should get two!! One as a spare…

      • dO yOu NoT hAvE tWo IpHoNeS?

Good job. Now everyone is going to demand 2k for their flagship phones.

    • +1

It's already happening. Just look at the prices for flagships from other brands. It seems like they're being excused for having scummy prices just because they're not as scummy as Apple.

    • and many people buy these through their businesses so it's tax deductible , use for 2 years, write it off and claim it was sold based on book value and sell on gumtree for cash for higher than written off cost.

Android phones drop to less than 1/2 price after 2 years, apple phones don't.

who is dumb enough to buy a $2000 with after tax dollar from their own wallet …..

The millions of non business owners, if I was to haphazardly provide a guess.

  • Question with the TRS.

As I was reading through https://www.ausbt.com.au/govt-cracks-down-on-airport-trs-reb… - I just wanted to confirm about your personal experiences.
I'm flying overseas on January for a week and would buy gadgets to claim under TRS. If I claim say, a phone and got the 10% back - if I return to Australia, do I need to pay it back to them again?

    • +3

      simple answer - yes

      • Whats is the process of checking goods (those TRS claimed) on return and do the goods need to be in original package while claiming TRS?

        • +2

Hey MorningStar, I've read through TRS stuff and it says it does not have to be in the original packaging.

          • @DardyMate: Thanks, really comfortable now, more than ten gadgets, can't fit in my bag with original packages.

      • Righto. That's what I am thinking. Cause it makes me wonder why I see alot of "Claim it under TRS" comments here on OzB especially on bargain devices if they're going for a holiday (or maybe not).

But okay that makes it clear for me then. I won't be able to take advantage of TRS as I'm coming back either way :)

        BUUUUT Okay.

What if I bought a laptop and claimed in under TRS all under my name. Then have it carried on the way back by my partner (not same last names) or friend - would that work?

        • you won't be able to claim TRS if you are not flying out Australia.

          • @CharityCase: Sorry I didn't clarify well. I'm travelling overseas for a week then coming back to Australia.

So would that work? I would purchase and claim it under my name - then on the way back from overseas holiday, my partner or friend would carry it on their bags?

        • +1

If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD900 worth of general goods into Australia duty free.

If you are under 18 years of age the limit is AUD450.

          Families can combine these allowances.

          https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/duty-f…

          • @mrctan: This is the correct answer

      • simple answer - yes

        This is wrong.

When entering Australia at one of the ports, you are allowed a certain value of goods duty-free.
If you are travelling with other people in your group, you can also pool the amount for one larger amount.

    • +7

You have a $900 allowance of general goods to bring back without paying tax. So, if you buy a phone worth less than $900, you can get the 10% back when you leave the country, and not have to pay anything to bring it back into the country. If the item is worth more than $900, you can get the 10% back when you leave the country, but you'll have to declare it when you return, and you'll have to pay the tax again. However, two other important things to note

      • The duty-free allowance is combined and shared among your family. So for instance, if you and your partner are travelling together (assuming they count as a de facto), you have a combined allowance of $1800. That allows you to use the TRS for individual items worth more than $900
      • Giving it to your partner/friend to carry back into the country might not raise flags, but legally you are required to declare if you are bringing in more than $900 worth of 'general goods' (see https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/duty-f…). This isn't just for goods you claimed the TRS for, it applies to goods that you buy overseas (e.g. if you bought the laptop overseas) and also for gifts. So if you give it to your partner to bring into the country, while it is unlikely to cause an issue, they would still technically be breaking the law if they didn't declare it

As you can see though, with the $900 personal allowance, if you aren't buying much overseas, you can claim the TRS and benefit for goods from $300-900, and if you are travelling with multiple people, the shared allowance means that a family of 4 could claim the TRS and not have to pay anything on return for goods worth up to $3600. So in practice, if you go on a holiday with your partner, it should be fine to claim the TRS for items above the $900 limit, as long as you're travelling together when returning to Australia. That's why you see so many comments about claiming under the TRS, there are a wide range of circumstances under which you can 100% legally get the GST refunded when holidaying

      • Also depreciation of item which is no longer new is arguable to get under the 900 per person rule. Unlikely to check gadgets in full use with a case though.

      • If under 18 it's only $450 each

    • You know nothing John snow

Apple is doing everything in their power to destroy themselves it seems.

    I can't find iphone XS :(

  • +11

Weak deal, try matching this at the least https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416555

You'd be silly to buy now with black friday deals looming

    • +1

That deal was actually illegal according to FBI rules because only 5 were available.

  • +5

    $2000? Bargain?

  • +6

I don't understand what's so revolutionary about this phone that they can charge this price.

    • +1

Its a new iphone!! Thats all that seems to be needed.

    • +3

You too can get this phone and the associated dPoints. If you have a small penis it doesn't matter, because the dPoints more than make up for that! You will have women swooning and men plotting your demise because of your massively increased popularity once you own this device.

Or you can buy a real bargain and have 1600 to spend on an awful lot of other bargains.

  • +5

If I paid $2000 for an iPhone, it'd better come with 2x Russian hoes.

  • +1

no, it can be dropped to $1822+

    iPhone XS Max

Half of this phone is trying to tell me it's super small and the other half is trying to tell me it's super big.
Surely for that cost (>$2000!) it retracts between the two sizes lol

    • XS Max = Medium?

  • -3

Mobileciti sells other phones too please be nice if possible so they can keep giving us good deals.

    • +1

People in this thread are criticising Apple, not the seller.

Who really needs 512gb storage in their pocket for personal use? Do you really want to be carrying that amount of personal data around.

    • Yes, I like my FLAC collection local and keep camera vids/pics in high res to save redownloading later. (But I use Andriod because file transfers are so much easier).

    • +1

yes, 640K ought to be more than enough…

    • Game installations and data, along with other apps such as email apps and messenger apps can take a lot of storage, and quickly chew into 512GB. Also unlike Google that provides unlimited storage for photos with Android One and Pixel phones, Apple doesnt provide the same amount. So large onboard storage is quite useful, especially when taking a lot of high res photos and 4K videos.

if u can not afford, do not click in.

    • They don’t have anything better to do!

  • Lol at the daytime crowd crying that they can’t afford an iPhone

  • +1

So glad this deal came along, a needed a backup phone.

    • I'm getting it as a disposable James Bond style phone. No-one will suspect a phone this ordinary.
