    Perfect for Black Friday.

  • Which service is cheaper & do combined package to reduce volume?
There are diffent stories for extra charges for all different providers.

    • ShopMate offer a consolidation (more than one package into one box etc) and/or repacking service to reduce volume and shipping costs.

They repacked for me once and the fee to repack was just below the amount I saved in shipping (according to them) so was worth it but not by much!

  • How do these usually work? Do you buy the item as usual on the US website and just ship it to the designated forwarding address?

  • I've had good experiences (two) with ShopMate. Latest is here for price comparison/info:

    Chargeable weight: 7.5kg
Package value: USD 249.00 (AUD 336.15)

    Base charge: $22.95
    Weight charge: $74.25
Voucher discount: - $14.58 (code found on OzB: 15OFF)
GST for value of good: $33.62
GST for ShopMate shipping and service fees: $8.20
    Total: $124.50

Took 2 days for me to pay, give invoice copy for GST and for them to put back in the mail. 10 days postage from US (5th-15th Oct).

honestly, $125 isn't particularly impressive. Nor is 10 days after spending $125. I get it though, compared with the BS AustraliaPost offer locally, it may not appear too bad. But, if you can get the US address sorted, folks like Fedex and DHL will do a far faster, cheaper and all round superior job. BTW, i wouldn't be surprised if it took 3 days to get to Sydney and then another 7 days to deliver to the 'burbs.

      • All of the freight forwarding services are extremely expensive, but of course most people don't have a mate in the USA who can send stuff over here for cheap, so there's no other alternative ever since Amazon US stopped delivering to Aus addresses :(

      • But, if you can get the US address sorted

        Easier said than done.

BTW, i wouldn't be surprised if it took 3 days to get to Sydney and then another 7 days to deliver to the 'burbs.

Shipping information received by Australia Post: Fri 05 Oct • 02:11am
Arrived at facility in destination country SYDNEY (AU): Thu 11 Oct • 10:14am
Onboard for delivery QLD: Mon 15 Oct • 07:41am

I'm never fussed about delivery times as I usually have the item in my cart for 2 weeks as a method of curbing impromptu spending!

Just posting this info for people to better compare to the other forwarders.

  • Is it 20% slower too?

Yeah I know, not too sure AusPost could be any slower but hey, they keep exceeding expectations!

What the shit! Was looking at a fair few things on Amazon USA and wanted to take advantage of the CR cash back

  • laptop shipping with lithium batteries ok with shopmate?

    • Yes, no issues so far.

Running a test at the moment.

      Shopmate vs Shipto.

      Same parcels, 20.00 " x 15.00 " x 13.00 "

      Shopmate $200
      Shipito: $250

Let's see which parcel gets here quicker. I'll report back.

  • Ordered a backpack and handbag from Michael Kors and it came back as actual weight 2.3kg but chargeable weight 7.3kg

Based on the shipping table I was expecting $40 shipping so I asked for a repack but it came back the same!

    $100 + $40 GST

I complained last week and they gave me a code WECARE to drop it 25% off to $75 postage (not sure if it's single use)

It shipped on Thursday and it has no tracking status it just says "on its way"

You have to upload an invoice otherwise they threaten a $55 fee

Will never use shopmate again! - Wish I'd read the 1 star average reviews on Product review https://www.productreview.com.au/p/australia-post-shopmate.h… and then I never would have used it!
