With RAM it's always best practice to check your motherboard's manual for a compatibility list, but AFAIK the Z170 thing is just marketing-speak from when DDR4 was a new thing and Z170 was Intel's top chipset.
FYI, Newegg's "GST-inclusive price" as shown on the product page or shopping cart is NOT the full amount they'll charge you. There are additional fees added upon checkout.
I can't work out how these fees are calculated. In this case the actual check out price for me is $163.20 so it's just $1.5 (1%) more than the product page price… but on a $1845 GPU for example they add $87 (5%) more at checkout.

I noticed some of the RAM sticks on Newegg have the "Intel Z170 Platform Memory" as part of the title. I haven't bothered to research this in detail, can any tell me if this has any implications for performance? I'm thinking of putting a computer together
