After missing out on the mobilecity offer on the iPhone XS series I looked around and found a better price. Basically called up officeworks, told them that this site is selling it for $1449, and the lady on the phone price matched and beat it by 5%. I believe this is slightly cheaper than the mobileciti deal that was available a while ago as well.
I changed it to "is". Happy that I fixed my grammatical error over the almost $200 saving I found?
I think since you were recounting a phone call that happened in the past it was perfectly acceptable to say “was”.

I wanted to price beat an iPhone X a few weeks ago from the same website—I contacted a couple of Officeworks store but they refused to price match it :(

Well it still follows along Officeworks price match policy where it's within Australia and the condition and specification is identical to Officeworks (minus the part about the phone's being opened and re-sealed for checking)

Well within a couple of years you'll be paying 3g plus for something like this. This is not good value but hey it's just me.
Value is something you can only define for yourself. To me spending a few hundred more than others while getting much greater support, performance and a whole ecosystem is value. I wouldn't pay RRP, but happy to pay this much. My old ip7plus is still going so well, well my S8+ for example is slowing down and it's battery barely lasts a day. When the ip7plus battery starts dying I can get it replaced by apple for $99. That's good value. It will also get updates for another 3 years which is also great value right?

There are no stores that I checked that had it in stock. But i asked person the wait and she said usually 1-2 days
I ordered on the phone and was told it would arrive tomorrow (VIC). Will be very surprised if it actually comes that quickly.
I feel like it's because they don't want to publicly advertise that they have stock, for what reason idk

Went in store and they declined it since they had none in stock. Said they can't price match on an order. Did people call the officeworks general number to get the price match and order?
Like I said above, we got four iPhones today from OW for myself and colleagues from two different stores. Both had stock.
I had to call because I checked and no stores in my area had it. You legit pick it up the next day though (for me at least)
